Yeah, 4m for Sorin to upgrade Baines is fair. You need to strengthen your team in a few positions and Baines is probably by far the weakest fullback in all the remaining teams.

I disagree with this BTW. With Del Piero cutting in, Carlos would have been one man wing. Having Davids on the same side would have helped as well to cover when needed.

I disagree. I don't think del Piero ever had an attacking fullback to connect with, it was mostly Pessotto or Iuliano and it was never a problem, especially with Davids in midfield, who was no mug on the ball and made runs down the wing to overlap (not often, but when necessary he could do it). If you have an inverted winger, who still plays mostly against the fullback and wants to connect with someone out wide, I'd prefer a more attacking fullback. With inside lefts, who play more inbetween fullback and centerbacks and who stay further up the pitch when you're defending, I'd much rather have someone like Abidal. Del Piero will much more try to connect with Davids, Veron or Nedved moving inside than create something from the wing.

It also would change the style of the team. With Carlos there, you would play much more advanced. You would want way more possession. That's not how the rest of my team is set-up to play. I don't think Carlos as a fullback fits in there. If I moved to a back 5 with Abidal - Cannavaro - Thuram as the 3 centerbacks, then Carlos would be a brilliant wingback addition of course. That's why antohan said, if I bought Carlos, I definitely should keep Abidal as well, because he's a brilliant LCB in a back 5.

Great choice going for Rui Costa over Kaka as Eto'o and Henry already have that directness and pace. Rui Costas brilliance as a playmaker will be more important to find the strikers than Kaka's pace would be.
