He is replacing a Torres/Villa for the Spanish NT set-up/Tikinaccio and I think he will do that job well. His high press and defensive work-rate is nowhere near a Messi. In the offense he will be slightly different of course, more and better runs behind the defensive line, better counter-attacks but not as good in the tightest of areas to be fair. He will get a lot of the through-balls from Silva, Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets though.

Second best option after Messi.

I would listen to offers for Giggs. I also would listen to offers for Overmars or Cocu, in case someone needs a quick and cheap fix on the wings, midfield, leftback. Could probably be convinced to sell those for less than 10m each.

Depends on how you will utilize him. If you are going to to have specific instructions of him bombing up the right wing every time the ball is on the right side then you are getting maybe the optimal fit. Can't think of someone who can provide the same amount of width on the right as Beckham in theory then could.

Of course if you want a CM who plays a regular box to box sort of game without any special role of providing width then I don't think Beckham is good enough for the role. I think you are better of using a midfielder who specialized in that role then.

Didn't Figo play in this role when Zidane won CL?

I don't see any point and don't like him in a diamond, particularly if you have someone as defensively weak as Pirlo there. You need the CM's to protect him the middle, not push up down the wing.

I don't see much wrong with the Ballack/Cambiasso thing you had going. It's not amazing but okay. If you wanted to improve it then Seedorf and Gattuso are much more suitable picks than Beckham for me.

That's a terrible shout. You'll be hard pressed in these drafts to get away with that with Makelele there. With Pirlo there is no chance.

He has Cambiasso in the DM role though? A destroyer DM not a deep lying playmaker. Unless I am completely missing something. In which case I think he needs his RCM and LCM to provide offensively. Or swap to a DLP and use your idea of course.

How does the new time limit work? Aldo's bid on Keane is the only one that runs 12 hours, right? So it ends at 01.10 while Edgar's bids on Pirlo and Carlos still run 24 hours until 11:30 tomorrow?

That would make no sense IMO, I suspect they would all end on 01.00.

There is no reason to give the newer bid a shorter deadline than the older one.

Yes bids made before noon today get 24 hours while the ones after that get 12.

I also think Edgar's timestamp is wrong, he made his bids 10 minutes before mine.

Probably just an oversight, I'll ask him when he comes on. There would be no reason to keep the older bids running longer than the new ones.

I think the reason we started it at 1.00 was just so that people had notice.

I remember being back in Southampton and questioning my understanding of "influence". He was no leader but certainly inspirational and you could tell his teammates couldn't believe their luck to be on the same pitch with such a genius.

In later versions he shot up to the late teens, which was really weird. One of those players I always tried to get, much like good ol' Wilmer.
