After a decent amount of ales - and watching Enzo strut his stuff to distract me further - I was just about to call you a twat for labeling our debate "plastic". I thought that was uncalled for. But spastic is another matter, obviously - it clearly is spastic.

I am of that idea as well. The only difference is we all have slight differences in how big of an advantage it is.
 
The point of proven partnerships is purely there's evidence of them working (or not, but you would have to be pretty thick to put together Keane, Scholes and Veron in the same midfield). Beyond that you have an argument to be had. In some cases the plaers will evidently work well together (Rio-Kohler), in others you could ramble on arguing forever, e.g. Iniesta and Boniek instead of Platini. If you said Iniesta and Romario instead of Laudrup, I'm sure that works, not as effective simply because I rate Laudrup higher, but that's all. But Iniesta is no Platini, Platini was like a perfect storm of Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.

Some real gems in there you probably didn't even notice: the peno that ruptured the net and looks like he had ballooned it, and his goal in the 1983 finals against Brazil.

That was awesome, I remember it clear as daylight. Enzo scores but the bent ref whistles for a foul just before the goal. "Bent ref, Havelange has you in his pocket" and other less articulate rants. Then we find out he isn't even giving a peno, the f%&$##g b$##%d. Throughout, Enzo is unfazed, he places the ball for the free kick, and scores anyway. :drool:
