All of them seem to have some issues tbh. This11 was great if you had a formation which had players concentrated in a particular area, for example a 5-3-2, etc because it had small kits and more room to display your formation, but the white fonts did my head in. Footballuser is sorta neater but huge shirts that take up the whole pitch. I'm just going to draw it on my own from now on, might not look all fancy with the kits and all but I'm fed up with the constant interface changes, etc.

That's a good call, actually. I think you're on to something there. The huge shirts are definitely annoying. I'm checking out lineupbuilder now - but what bugs me there is that you get these position abbreviations ("FC", "AC", etc), which can easily be misleading.

I have a free copy of Photoshop I hardly ever use - think I'm going to have a crack at creating my own thing...

My heart says Vidic, as he's the one who actually formed one of the all-time great partnerships with Rio, but he'll only get torn to shreds in the match threads as per. He's treated about as kindly as Koeman in these things in my biased and bitter opinion!
 
I would have Vidic as well over Kohler there. The skill difference at those levels is rarely enough to make up for a proven perfect partnership. But then again Vidic is slightly damaged due to his performances against Torres especially so Kohler will win more votes.
 
It's bizarre enough. The only conceivable argument against Vidic is that he isn't quite as good as Stam or Kohler. But who is? They're right up there in the all time category - and the fact is that Vidic in his pomp isn't miles off, not at all. The Rio-Vidic partnership was pretty much the best in the business for several years.
 
Problem with Vidic is that he had a glaring weakness against players who could run at him with pace that was exposed in some high profile matches.

Also all the proven partnership stuff is getting a bit overrated here and also missing the point of a draft. Whole point is to form a team with players who normally would not play with each other due to being from different eras, clubs, nationality etc. Kohler is a clear improvement over Vidic and it is bizarre to suggest that Rio-vida would have been a better option.

You are wrong on that. Vidic wins a lot of scan votes, sure about that. On caf a good number still consider his peak equal or better than Rio

That is a very fair point. If the proven partnership argument is brought to its logical conclusion, the ideal fantasy team is...a real, historic side down to the last water carrier. Which is absurd, given the very concept itself. It should be about using players in roles which are plausible - and come up with combinations and partnerships which make sense. If not, what's there to prove for any manager? We all know who actually played alongside each other - replicating a historical set-up isn't much of a challenge.

So, yes - in principle a proven partnership shouldn't be rated more highly than a hypothetical partnership which makes sense - er, if that makes...sense.

I think proven partnerships make sense when you are using two players who individually may not be top tier but collectively proved themselves to be. A good example of that is Dunga-Silva from 94
 
I'd go Kohler - Rio. You're bringing together the best of both worlds.

Aye - or Bruce and Pally (whom trippy sported against me), say. The problem arises when such a duo gets more credit than a combination of players who are clearly better individually.

I think it's fair to use a proven partnership as a device, so to speak, to make up for a lack of individual brilliance, if you will - that's creative and shows good "managerial" skills in the context of the game.

So I was onto something with my player pictures one :smirk:

Anyhow, you CAN change kit in this11, just hover any shirt and you will see a cog on the top left side, click that and it gives you shirt options, whichever you choose is applied to al players bar the keeper. If it weren't for the font it wouldn't be worse than before.

Ah...I will try that. It's not exactly intuitive, though, is it? Or perhaps I'm just bloody stupid - a possibility I'm starting to consider more and more, truth be told.

Maybe I'll try my hand at some caricature drawing for the player profiles...Valderrama should be easy to nail down.
 
One thing which bothers me slightly...and I repeat slightly, it's no big deal but I mentioned it early on as well - and it could be a point worth debating with an eye to future drafts...and it is this: If a TP trequartista/playmaker will cost you six points, I think a central midfielder/playmaker should cost you six as well. That sort of player is much rarer, granted, but he will be of immense benefit to any team that use him in his orchestrator role: Pirlo, Xavi, the later incarnation of Scholes. Going back in time there are others - think of a player of Didi's ilk, for instance.

Well, I mention it - for future reference, not as an attempt at moaning over the present state of affairs.
