We've lost all our posts though. All that time and effort
That's not the point. Tackling is far from the main attribute of Meireles. Point was that neither is that theirs. With the way the team pressures the opponent you don't need to be a very good tackler to win the ball.
Could Mereiles leaving be down to the fact he was a Hodgson signing and not Kennys. It wouldn't suprise me
That old chestnut - give 100% or more - a typically English footballing attitude that gets us nowhere on the European or World stages. You obviously know far more about the player than I do, but Chelsea have England's most solid defence and best goalkeeper, they have a midfield that includes Essien and Ramires. As I said a moment ago, Oriol Romeu is a name that will become very familiar in premier league circles this year, and despite not playing in England yet you could put him on an extended shortlist for young player of the year and just about get away with it.
Basically my point is Chelsea is not Liverpool, we do not need him to charge around the pitch like a maniac and we do not need him to stifle the opposition. If he makes one killer throughball, one cross, one run through the defence in a game and is successful then he has done his job.

You know this how?
We conceded less goals than you last season, therefore Chelsea as it stands has the best defence in England.

Good point and now for the fantastic bit of news you've been waiting for.
This transfer window we've managed to expunge (other than Meireles), wait for it:
El Zhar, Pacheco, Jovanovic, Poulsen, Cole, Ngog, Degen, Eccleston. Of the Bodgson signings only reserve keeper Brad Jones remains.
So, to reiterate, you will never see these players don a Liverpool shirt for any rotation we employ. Ever. RESULT.
I think Meireles is a pretty good signing for Chelsea. Villas Boas'll probably use him as a holding midfield player (where he's played for Portugal) and he'll be an upgrade over Mikel at that position.
He might have tattoos but I don't think he'd be any sort of defensive midfielder.
So excited, still buzzing so thought I'd bump this already and also mention....out of all the sh*t Bodgson bought INTO Liverpool he never took OUT with him to West Brom. Ask yourselves why?
He could have taken Konchesky and Poulsen at the very least.

He's played there quite a bit for Portugal and Porto, no?
Dalglish is old fashioned. He likes his players to give 100%. More if possible, definitely not less.
So, has Aquilani stayed at Liverpool then?
SWP doesnt look very enthusiastic.
Dalgish is doing a really good job there.
Does Rory Smith have a printscreen of Liverpool's accounting?
I also can't see how Liverpool have earned money from transfers.
Meireles 12m
Aquilani loan
N'Gog 4m
rest less than 4m.
Whilst Henderson, Adam, Coates, Downing, Enrique and Doni are easily more than 50m. Why are you reading tweets from twits you twat?
Still, they might argue that he hasn't been putting in the effort defensively and that he's not good enough to totally neglect that side of the game.
I don't know if that's true - I don't think so, if you're interested in my opinion - but there's an argument to be made there.
I guess he's splitting the transfer spend across the length of the players contracts and counting the wage expenses of the sold players in the same year.
He chose money over playing time for the important part of his career.
More interesting facts emerging. These are rough figures obviously but paint a picture:
rorysmith_tel Rory Smith
As far as I can tell, #LFC have cut £30m off their wage bill and earned about £25m in transfer fees this summer. Net spend.
The £30m wage bill is crucial I think. Part of the moneyball strategy no doubt. Hopefully clearing the way for a better midfielder in January (Hazard)?
