Will they at least buy him some dinner before doing him? It's only fair.
Uhm, we've just got one of the best young midfielders in Europe and one of England's most talented young strikers. Some things are not ideal, but it's far from a 'mess'.
Without Sigurdsson and Llorente the pace of our play should improve markedly. Counter-attacks were not existent last season because we couldn't stretch anyone or move the ball quick enough. We ended up resorting to lumping it into the box for the big man. Just kept us up, but it was painful to watch.
Again today it looks up in the air: Aurier will slot straight in but looks risky, Barkley and Llorente again are squad additions rather than nailed-on first teamers. Either way it'll be interesting to watch you today, more so than United for sure .
From Chile - # Manchester City , last attempt for Alexis # Sanchez : offered € 75m at Arsenal! Wage of 12m € per season. # DeadlineDay !
From what I've seen of him they'd be mad to turn that down. I wouldn't take the guy on a free, he's absolute trash.23 pounds might be a decent price for Janssen, especially with today's market, but I'd rather spend it on a decent lunch than on Vinnie
But it's lacking a squad depth of quality that has cost Spurs in recent years, and with Champions League football, squad depth is probably more important to Spurs than chopping about with the first XI
Maybe they wait til last minute hoping to get a cheaper deal from clubs wanting rid but were hoping for more bids that didn't come earlier. Gotta be some rhyme and reason why so many players move in one day. Can't just be desperation although I think that's the case in a good few of them. The overinflation of the market (not that it wasn't before) has made the deadline more packed and excited. Clubs seem to have left things more to the last minute.
That's a good point, squad depth is definitely something they need to work on. However though I know there's obviously a place for signings you know aren't going straight in your best XI I've always thought the best way to improve a squad is to try to displace a first teamer with most of your new signings. If you're signing a guy purely as squad meat, barring perhaps a second choice keeper, it's worth questioning whether the guy is at the level you're at or aiming to reach.
Southampton’s position over Virgil Van Dijk remains unequivocal. He is going nowhere today – not to Liverpool and not to any other top club. Liverpool have been unable to initiate any talks with Southampton in recent weeks, after the warning they got from the Premier League for tapping up Van Dijk earlier in the summer, and Southampton have certainly not gone to them. There has been zero contact between the clubs and that will remain the case today – it has to, in light of the sensitivity over the tapping-up – and it means that there is zero chance of a deal. Southampton remain confident of reintegrating Van Dijk into the team after the window shuts.
Anyone fancies a quick guessing game, will those players end up changing clubs today?
VVD - stays
Coutinho - goes
Lemar - stays
Alexis - stays
Mahrez - goes
