Transfer Deadline Day - 2/2/2015

Had no idea Wolfsburg had that sort of cash. I know he's now a world cup winner, but even so, hard to see how his value has shot up while he's been warming the bench.

Chelsea could sell sand to the Sheikhs for £100m so it wouldn't surprise me.
I believe City included the cost of sand for the construction of the Etihad Campus as being around £100m in their FFP calculations.

Schurrle and Luiz for £100m, yeah that's not suspicious at all

They're probably funding the deals under-the-counter to make FFP look kosher.

Demerai Gray the next/better Redmond, £5 million is a lot of money to reject for Birmingham. Would be surprised if PL teams dont get involved. He's the type Wenger usually buys

They're owned by Volkswagen, so they're pretty loaded.

Doesn't really matter anyway as the Schurrle thing'll be including the wages over the course of his contract too. Chelsea'll only be getting around £20m odd of that, which is still a pretty hefty chunk considering he's not played too much for them. I guess it's just that when Chelsea sell players they seem to have loaded clubs interested - PSG in Luiz, Wolfsburg in de Bruyne and Schurrle.

The biggest deal in England will be Huth to Leicester on loan

Dunno how it's being done, but the Luiz deal stunk to high heavens, IMO.
Well Chelsea are involved in dodgy business like this, giving ample opportunity for making secret payments etc....

'Chelsea Football Club appear to be involved in the funding of "third-party ownership" of players outside the Premier League, contrary to the Premier League's and Uefa's strong official condemnation of the practice. Company documents in the UK, Jersey and Ireland strongly suggest that Chelsea are working in partnership with José Mourinho's Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, and the US company Creative Arts Agency, who buy "economic rights participation agreements" in footballers playing for other clubs outside the Premier League.

Roman Abramovich's Chelsea appear to be partners in the Quality Sports Investments and Quality Football Ireland network of companies, which operate via a complicated series of companies and several different funds in the tax haven of Jersey, to buy a percentage of players' "economic rights". The QSI funds seek to cash in by making a profit when the players are sold, operating via companies in Ireland, where corporation tax is set at 12.5%.

Peter Kenyon, the former Manchester United and Chelsea chief executive, who is now based in St Helier, Jersey, has been reported to have helped set up this Quality Sports Investments and Quality Football Ireland operation, with Mendes and CAA, shortly after he left Chelsea in 2010'.

Coincidentally QSI also stands for Qatari Sports Investments, the owners of PSG.

I don't get it. Chelsea manage to extort others for ridiculous prices and pay absurdly low prices for players themselves. It's incredible, really. It's like The Devils' Advocate featuring Keanu, only football negotiator instead of lawyer.

I'd hazard (no pun) a guess that Roman is giving these clubs the cash to buy the players, so they break even on the FFP stuff.

Has anyone pointed out that Mata has wished Anderson luck on his blog as he leaves the club for Brazil.

Looks a good fit for them too, with De Bruyne pulling strings centrally. You want goalscorers around him to finish off plays and Bost and Perisic don't seem to be on Schurrle's level.

Thought Wolfsburg was smaller, didn't realise VW own them.

There's something dodgy going on there I reckon!

It's quite funny to see Sky utterly stumped as to what to report, given that the square root of feck all is happening, If there's a positive to be taken from our quiet window, it's that.

Aston Villa have made an inquiry for Rickie Lambert but Liverpool showing no signs of wanting the forward to leave.

I'm hearing Ings has not agreed a pre-contract agreement with Real Soceidad and that he wants to join Liverpool in the summer.

Richards set for Inter switch?
"I am told it is still possible Micah Richards could join Inter Milan before the deadline, where he would, of course, be reunited with his former manager Roberto Mancini.

"The defender is currently on loan at Fiorentina from Manchester City and the lack of time and complications around paperwork could be an issue with City initially needing to recall him and then complete a new deal. Both loan and permanent deals are options for Inter. But time is against them."

Schurrle's dad is now leaving the Wolfsburg ground!!!

Meanwhile, the Wolfsburg branch of German tabloid Bild has posted a photo of Schurrle's father and agent leaving the grounds of Wolfsburg's stadium.

What is it with Liverpool buying shit strikers? I know they can't compete for top tier players but they are still bigger and better than the likes of Ricky Lambert and Danny Ings. I don't get it.
