Transfer Deadline Day - 2/2/2015

You know transfer deadline day has really jumped the shark, when the BBC have a "Football Manager computer game expert" giving updates throughout the day on their live feed

Maybe it's just for us? So our transfer muppets can get an early night instead of waiting until midnight to find out whether we really are going to sign a deadline day double of Mats Hummels and Kevin De Bruyne!

Did you just answer your own post?

zzzzz.. nothing happening ... ?

Edit -

"West Brom are back in for Darren Fletcher, whose move to West Ham from Manchester United appeared to be off on Saturday. The Baggies also look like signing Carlton Cole from West Ham on a free transfer and are trying to land the defensive midfielder Etienne Capoue from Tottenham.

"Burnley have lodged a bid for the West Brom midfielder Graham Dorrans of around £1.5m and the two clubs are still talking. Neil Taylor the Swansea left-back may also be joining West Brom today while funds could be generated by the sale for around £5m of striker Brown Ideye to Qatari club Al-Ghararafa. In short, a busy day for Tony Pulis et al."

Football agent Eamon Mcloughlin, speaking to BBC Sport: "If at 11 o'clock on deadline day a player doesn't know that he is being seriously considered then he should probably get himself a cup of tea and get ready to watch it all on TV tonight. If you're not in touch with a club at this stage and well into negotiations, a deal isn't going to happen.

"Also if a club says we didn't get things done because we ran out of time the club needs to have a look at itself because they have had four or five months to plan this. If they left it right to the wire it's because they thought they might save 5% on the deal by trying to be smart."

That is really embarrassing for BBC

Spurs have signed Dele Alli from MK Dons ... but probably a loan back until end of season

Some Manchester United news up next...
Turns out that the news is that there is no news!

Januzaj staying put, Fletcher due to train
Posted at 12:42
BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "Adnan Januzaj will not be leaving Manchester United today. Rumours had been growing on Merseyside that Everton were looking to sign the Belgian on loan for the remainder of the season. However, United sources have said there is 'no chance' of that happening.
"They have also confirmed that, as yet, there has been no developments regarding the future of Darren Fletcher. The Scotland midfielder has been told he can have a free transfer despite having half a season remaining on his contract. A proposed move to West Ham collapsed on Saturday and Fletcher is expected to train with his United team-mates this afternoon."

Here me wishing LVG has kept all incoming top secret and that we bring in a top CB today as that could be the difference between a Champions League spit or not!!

Think we'd be making a mistake if we don't bring a CB in. Even if its a short term/loan deal just to add a bit of experience to our back line. Not confident with what we have to cement that top 4 place.

I'd be incredibly surprised if we ended up signing anyone. Might be a mistake, but our squad should be able to finish in the top 4. Would be a major regression if we miss out on the CL second season running. We won't sign the players we want if that's the case.

Yeah it seems unlikely we could bring someone good enough in at this stage and we need to get some consistency from a number of current players who have had choppy seasons with injuries etc.

and Harry Wheeler-Dealer was already in top form on Friday too

On selling Jordon Mutch to Crystal Palace: "We had an offer for him, it was a money-back type of deal. Jordan's a good lad and I like him a lot but he hadn't got up and running."

On potential incoming transfers: "I'm sure there's plenty of potential with Jordan but we're looking to bring in one or two so we had to bring some money in. But we're still struggling to find someone to bring in - that's the problem."

On whether he is looking to offload wingers Junior Hoilett and Matty Phillips: "I would rather Junior and Matty stay here. Les Ferdinand said there has been some interest in Junior from a German club. But we're not overloaded with players and we're looking to strengthen not weaken."

On speculation linking Dutch winger Leroy Fer away from Loftus Road: "Absolute rubbish. Nonsense. I've had no offers for anybody."

Emmanuel Adebayor?: "I don't see that happening. He's an excellent player - you don't play for Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Tottenham if you're not. I wouldn't see him leaving Tottenham - it's too expensive a deal for us. We're looking for loans. I' don't know if he is available on loan."

Dani Osvaldo?: "No. Nothing there. That's not because of the baggage of his history at Southampton - he's a good player. We couldn't afford him basically. He's on big, big wages. I think there are options in Italy for him."

Bakary Sako?: "Made an enquiry and that's as far as it went. Les Ferdinand spoke to the people at Wolverhampton - it's not gone any further."

Yann M'Vila?: He belongs to Rubin Kazan, that's not going to happen.

Rudy Gestede?: No, not going to happen.

Aaron Lennon?: Good player - not spoke to anyone at Tottenham about that.

More from Harry: "We can sit and talk about players all day, but you need to get them over the line. We're nowhere near yet."

Did he say all that from the window of his car?

Images would be appreciated

Charis Mavrias has moved from Sunderland to Panathinaikos. It's all hotting up now lads.

Danny Ings apparently is wanted by Moyesy at the end of the season on a free transfer. Didn't realise he was as young as he was. Reckon he'll stay at Burnley till the end of the season. They sell him and they're chances of staying up are slashed

Surely this is bollocks from the BBC?

  • Schurrle to cost Wolfsburg £50m?

The Wolfsburg branch of German tabloid Bild tweets a picture of Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs, who is reported to have said he was "relaxed" as negotiations over the transfer of Andre Schurrle from Chelsea continue.

Allofs was present at a press conference this morning and German magazineKicker (in German) reported him as saying Wolfsburg "have done everything" to conclude the deal for Schurrle. "It's about money and we are waiting for Chelsea's decision."

Meanwhile the Bild website (in German) is reporting the total cost of the Schurrle deal will come in at close to £50m...

Chelsea could sell sand to the Sheikhs for £100m so it wouldn't surprise me.

Assuming they must mean total cost including his wages over the term of the contract but still seems fecking expensive. After the Luiz deal, anything is possible I guess, they are out-Levy-ing Levy.

Yeah. Bild reported that the transfer will cost €32m + additional bonus payments. Then added his wages on top and came up with that 66m story, which equals around £50m. Doubt it's true though, I've read different numbers every day and the way Klaus Allofs (Wolfsburg's director of football) talked about the transfer, I can't see Wolfsburg paying that much.

I don't get it. Chelsea manage to extort others for ridiculous prices and pay absurdly low prices for players themselves. It's incredible, really. It's like The Devils' Advocate featuring Keanu, only football negotiator instead of lawyer.
