Television Top Gear

So the previous plan to bring in a couple of celebrities who did well on the track didn't work as planned.

But if at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Jodie Kidd and/or Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, please.

Get a boring guy who has a philosophy of how he can make the show great again in 3 years. Sack him after 2 seasons then bring Rowan Atkinson:p

Harris is quality but not sure if he is leading man material. I'd have Le Blanc, Harris, Reid and one more guy.. Jenson Button? someone really cool and compliments the others.

In his brief part this series Button looked really good, I know he's probably got more pressing matters to attend to though.

Ha ha ha ha ha. I have loathed Evans for donkeys' years. He has always been a creepy no-talent to me.

Likewise. Only better news from the BBC this year is that Robot Wars is coming back.

They've got to decide what they want. If they go down there revamp road and turn it back into a petrolhead show them get some serious drivers/motor journo's in.

If they want a 'banter' show like the last one, then have trials until you find 3/4 guess who all get on together. They don't have to be celebs at all - intact it's probably be better if they were unknowns as they'd get more slack from the public than celebs who comes with baggage.

Chris Evans was shite though.

Didn't think CE was right but I was certainly warming to Matt le Blanc (strangely against all my better judgement), hope he stays along with the German chick (if that's still allowed after BREXIT), Rory Reid and the internet guy … although Jordan can take a hike as he offers very little. The camera-work and the format is top class and needs to carry on if only to keep JC and the Amazon mob honest!

At least he fell on his sword. Disagree with many, I thought matt le blanc just as shite as chris evans. The german bird rocks though.

Evans was way OTT so glad he's gone.
LeBlanc was fine, as was Sabine.
Poster above is right. Try out a few new lead guys/gals with those two to see who has the best chemistry.

Harris is quality but not sure if he is leading man material. I'd have Le Blanc, Harris, Reid and one more guy.. Jenson Button? someone really cool and compliments the others.

I liked Button in his appearance this season too. He considered F1 retirement last year, but was talked out of it, if I calls it a day after this season, I'd like to see Top Gear approach him.

Weird! I don't even have him on ignore.

Maybe caf has started filtering stuff from shit posters automatically for me, considering everyone I ignore tend to be perma banned after some time.

I'd like to see Guy Martin, James Martin or Jenson Button part-time alongside Harris, Reid and le Blanc.

Won't they just make Le Blanc the main guy and give Harris and that Rory Reid more prominent roles? Think there's potential with those three, maybe keep Sabine on too and dump the Stig.

Le Blanc is a charisma vacuum. People only like him because he's 'the guy who wasn't Chris Evans'. Now there's no Chris Evans, MLB has nothing to fall back on.

I don't see what others see in LeBlanc either. He seems tired and disinterested whenever he's on. I hope he's not still doing that gag where he pretends to misunderstand British culture, they were cringey since the first episode.

5live just said BBC aren't gonna replace Evans. Keep it as is. I don't mind that, thought Le Blanc, Harris & Reid were all good. Keep just those 3 and get rid of Eddie Jordan too.

They need to stop with the over the top, orchestrated segments. The old show was at its best just doing simple little challenges and having down to earth banter between the three hosts. This series seemed like they were just trying to stuff a load of big ideas into it as possible.

They won't scrape Top Gear because it's such a money spinner (well not for much longer) but they really need to have some serious changes to the format to get away from the comparison with Clarkson. The reason Clarkson's Top Gear worked so well was because it was his format and his ideas, and they worked it to there strengths.. It was never going to work sticking in another lot into that format.

Thought the show and Chris improved as it went on. I enjoyed many of the segments. Very well shot and some nice but safe ideas.

I tend to skip through the celebrity bits with them announcing each other, the long winded audience voting and the random rally cross. I cannot listen to the wehay each week on the stupid jump. The old car star in a car lap did mean something, people like Simon Cowell and Le Blanc stood out as being good drivers but now its just a meaningless pot shot on this stupid rally cross thing.

Not sure how they can pull the ratings back. I think they're destined to be lower now. It's very hard to have a new team create the magic, very hard to come up with a new formula, takes time to form the relationships that the old crew had. Those early reboot Top Gear shows with May and Hammond took years to craft.

One thing missing which is understandable is the new crew didn't really put themselves in tricky situations. Very safe and the more car geeky the more I see the floating audience turn off.

I like Chris Harris, he's a car review veteran and good to see him get the big stage, his segments have been great to watch but I'm not sure he's up for the hijinks or has the comedy side to make it good TV for others. Perhaps they see Chris Evans as surplus and they'll go with mostly the same crew and just try to build from there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember Top Gear being shown in the summer, seems like early and end of year thing. Light nights, Olympics, euros, World Cups are going to get in the way. Even I decided to watch France vs Iceland.

PS Chris Evans looks to be wearing the same fecking clothes with those sweaty boots in each episode. No way were all the studio bits filmed at once. The others had a change of clothes.

So what is the deal with this Chris Evans guy?

I don't know him and had never heard of him until this whole fiasco with the show started.
