Television Top Gear

I really liked this week's episode. It just jumped in class from the first. They've focussed more on the actual cars and less on the entertainment which I thought would be a turn off for a few, but I still liked it.

I don't know who Rory Reid and Chris Harris are, but their segments were excellent. So much passion in both of them. I especially liked the production value and narrative for Harris's piece on Ferrari tfd. The guy is a natural.

Matt Le Blanc's segment felt OTT to be honest, but boy watching Ken Block drive around London was brilliant. I'm assuming people from London must have been fuming for when they closed the roads. I think I saw some CGI as well in that.

Even Evans was bearable in the Audi segment. Sabine is a beast isn't she ?!

Love Kevin Hart btw... You could tell he was disappointed that his time wasn't quicker.

Also, Le Blanc feels more like Joey from Friends rather than Le Blanc from Episodes. It's fun at first, but the novelty will soon wear off.

I like this direction they are taking it in. I won't mind sticking around to this even when the other one comes on. (Btw, some one should really start a thread for that).

They really need to stop the celeb reading off the auto-cue to tell us why the other celeb is on the show, just doesn't work. Ep over all was good.

Really enjoyed it. The addition of Rory Reid and Chris Harris to the show brought the whole thing up another level. Those 2 are the future of Top Gear. Not Evans and LeBlanc.

Watching the repeat of the latest episode between the football matches... it's pretty good I reckon. And I know nothing about cars.

If they combine the best bits of this week with the best bits of last week they're on to a winner.

I really enjoyed Rory Reid and Chris Harris' segments, like everyone I think (oh and Kevin Hart was good fun) but I thought the other two segments were awful. I've liked Matt LeBlanc up until now, but what preciously was the point of that segment? The car was loud and makes smoke and... what was that about?

People saying Le Blanc is boring or something, don't get it. Would you prefer if shouted like an idiot? Like the other one?

See: Rory Reid (or Chris Harris)*

*I actually don't mind MLB - I feel kind of neutral about him

If the BBC listen to public opinion, then surely these two will have the main gig soon enough. Natural charisma and screen presence and you actually listen to what they have to say rather than wishing they weren't onscreen like Evans and LeBlanc.

On another note, Evans really, really needs to stop trying to be Clarkson's Mini-Me. He's a 50 year-old man who has yet to attain an identity of his own by the way he's acting on the show.

I reckon Clarkson and Co's new gig will get mad ratings to begin with before fading off to obscurity as it no longer has a prime time slot on terrestrial television and people soon remember that they're no where near as good as they've been built up to be over the last 12 months.

They're the equivalent of an injured Nani.

Maybe they really are that good and we just set ridiculous standards for them.

They're very good presenters and the new Top Gear has highlighted how much personality they had. Doesn't mean they weren't also pretty annoying though. This was emphasised by the horrible TG scripting which will hopefully but probably not disappear.

Evans is still shit.. Xtra Gear blokes are good.. Clearly getting better but still missing something.

Think so. Do we know when it starts?

Rory's great. I'd go so far as to say he's the best presenter from both the current and previous roster. If he were to replace Evans as the main man, the show would improve several fold.

Well after probably the best episode so far last week looks like tonight's episode is aiming to return to the crap tedious celeb driven guff we saw in episode two. It might turn out better then expected but I seriously doubt it, Eddie Jordan is on the show again and I'm sorry but I just can't stand the guy.

Also does anyone else have any ideas as to why they didn't call the other show 'top gear extra' as opposed to 'extra gear'? Firstly, it just sounds a bit naff, but also the fact it has no real connection associating it with the main show makes me wonder if it was purely a vehicle for Chris and Rory to find their feet and will be cancelled after the first series.

I'm sorry but I don't see how a thousand names on a petition is going to do anything. Number seems really low.

The only thing that will make a difference is if the viewing figures continue to fall to a point where the show is no longer profitable or cost effective to make.

Again this week, all the best bits are from Rory Reid and Chris Harris.

New lads are ace. Hopefully they'll go next year with just them and LeBlanc or find a better third foil for them.

Bit meh in truth, the latest episode. That Tesla Model X though, what a car!

Becoming a fan of Harris though.
