Television Top Gear

I'll disagree with that, I think it has been quite funny the past few years as well as all the other years it has been on air. And even when it's not funny, I still think they come up with good ideas and the chemistry between the 3 really is pretty great.

Can't deny the chemistry the three have with each other; they make for a solid team. James May in particular was always pretty good. Whilst there were a few good laughs in the past few series, I found myself cringing too much, which I didn't in the old ones. I guess it also doesn't help that I used to quite like Clarkson but now find him to be too much of an arse.

TG hasn't been funny in years. It became far too scripted towards the end, to the point where it was neither particularly informative nor was it all that funny. At its peak it was hilarious though, where it wasn't so obviously scripted.

Yeah I agree. I've just had a look on Wiki at the series' overview and I'd say about 2005 to 2010 was when Top Gear was at its peak. Series 10 (2007) which included stuff like the second amphibious cars, the Botswana special, the 24 hour endurance race and the race across London was quality. Hopefully their new series will be able to match it.

Apparently, Chris Evans was taken round a track by Sabine Schmitz a few times & threw up

Also, they keep chopping & changing the production crew & no one knows anything about cars.

This show is going to be a total mess, I can just feel it. Meanwhile, on Amazon Prime...

I watched that James May's cars of the people at the weekend - reminded me just how affable all the proper top gear presenters are and Im genuinley looking forward to their new show - I'll even fork out for amazon prime to get it.

Couldnt care less about the chris evans show - though he has a pretty high success rate with shows so there is a decent chance they will cobble something passable together - hopefully heading straight into argentina show one in maurauders with we sank the belgrano and we dont care painted down the side - might watch it then

So sarcastic LeBlanc is teaming up with satcastic Evans? Great dynamic.

I've seen him in various interviews and he's disappointingly humourless. It confirms their demographic though. It already turned into the One Show with Karl Pilkington grade "this is honestly a real scenario that is happening here" scripting and humour. It's not aimed at blokes anymore, it's aimed at your girlfriend, your mum and the sort of people that find Russel Howard and Jason Manford funny.

thats who they should have got for a presenter

Julian Assange to complete the lineup.

Pity much agree.

I think Chris Evans will be a good host. They should have scoured the country for a someone with a genuine passion for cars and created a new personality to cover the actual Car reviews ect.

Suzi Perry to complete the line up now the F1 gig is up?

I'll give this a go, but everything about this new Top Gear feels safe and watered down, I can see it becoming the next Fifth Gear.

Won't he just get stuck in second gear all the time?

This. James May was a total unknown, i'd rather this than a Woodward style big name grab, which is exactly what this looks like. But i suppose they are in competition with whatever the Amazon show will be called, they'll need all the help they can get.

I don't know why they didn't get Tiff Needel back, but it's not really a motoring show anymore. The presenters are probably petrolheads, but they have made their fortune already & have their dream garages. When this format of Top Gear started, it was Clarkson & 2 unknown but genuine petrolheads. Say what you like about Hamster, & I've said quite a lot of what I dislike about him, but he is a genuine car enthusiast with an encyclopedic knowledge of the sort of car facts I used to know when I was 11.

Evans is an entertainer, pure & simple, but he does know his cars, I'll give him that.

Anyway, I can't imagine it could be any worse that the tripe they have been serving up the last few years. It used to be my favourite show on TV but I just got fed up with the tomfoolery, and Star in a Reasonably Priced car turned into the Graham Norton show. "So, your car history, you can't actually drive can you?".

Cuz you're there for me too. D'awww.

I like LeBlanc, but can't help but agree with this.

Can't wait until the 'how you doin' line during the Ferrari episode.

This show was always going to die on it's arse when the other three moved to Amazon.

Never really expected that lineup. I have really low hopes for the show now
