Television Top Gear

The Saab piece last week was excellent. The programme really does work best when May and Jeremy are together and Hammond is nowhere in site.

This week and here we are with May's favourite sweater again. Horrible.

Those cars with aero engines, especially the German one, Brutus.

That engine on it, what a beast!

I dont understand how slow it was though, i mean it can make a plane take off and fly through the air, but it struggled to accelerate a car at any reasonable speed?

Where is the logic in that

Who cares, its not for driving, its for staring up now & again just to scare the children & wake the neighbours.

The problem with that much power is getting it onto the road, with those skinny old tyres you don't have much chance.

Simply, it's not like a plane where you effectively take a big arse engine, attach a fuel tank to it, bolt it onto a frame and some some wings and wheels and such on it. No gearbox or drive train to worry about at all.

alot of power would be lost through the drive train and gearbox. It would have restrictor plates on the engine as well to preserve its life. In the end you just have a big engine, but that's it.

The Bugatti wasn't even a real Merlin Spitfire engine either as pointed out at the end. It was simply an engine that share's a similar heritage but was already used for vehicles.

Just catching up on the last 2 episodes. The girl over Matt Smith's left shoulder in last week's episode is gorgeous!

I was talking to my mate a few weeks ago saying had he noticed there's always a nice looking girl at the front and he said he hadn't, then yesterday I was getting my haircut and the guy next to me was talking about when he went to see the filming of it live a couple of weeks before, and said that the production manager tells people that they need to move forward/back based on the clothes they're wearing, but it's blatantly to get the fit girls to the front!

Thought that was common knowledge

Just watched the "North Pole" episode. Brilliant.

It's a well known fact that they do. They usually usher the women (who have a lesser ratio) to the front.

I believe this is wrong. IIRC you can only go to top gear in equal groups of men and woman. Gay groups were complaining about it a few years ago.

The US version of this is actually getting pretty good :nervous:

I still hate Rutlidge Wood, but it has an air of freshness about it. In the last episode, the 3 guys tested convertible super cars for Donald Trump. Seriously, that kind of thinking was what made Top Gear UK good.

You know the Dear Top Gear, where's the best driving road in the world, where's the best caravanning spot in the world, what super car can I buy on a budget etc'. Not this, lets build a fecking train car, or lets build a fecking apartment on a car.

And in the earlier seasons there used to be a bit of info used cars and the market.

I think it look be good. Judging by the Clarksons twitter they have spent 6 months filming the next series, putting a lot of time in to it.

 I'd love one of those!

I liked the rally with Bentley, that driver got some skills to drive Bentley like that.
