Television Top Gear

That's different. That actually has something to do with cars.

Yer plank from black eyed peas was so boring I was delighted I had sky plused it so I could FF it. He's a bit of a self serving ponce really.

Some are quite good. I mean Tom Cruise was fairly interesting, I assumed he'd be quick due to doing his own stunts etc. And you get some fairly decent anecdotes occasionally. Its only 5 minutes or so as well.e

If only to slightly remove the ignorance at some, the Nascar bit was pretty good. It's alot harder then just turning left. Concentration levels really get put to the test, as much as f1. The competitiveness is also alot higher given that on any weekend 10-12 guys can win a race.

Yep Best series in ages so far. They seem to be going back to the formula from a few years ago. Even the bit in China was interesting.

I like a bit of Nascar too myself, no reason that both can't be liked.

Yeah it's been good. I liked Le Blanc.

The segment on China was brilliant and I laughed big time when they had the Chinese lads dressed as them at the end. Taking over the world.

It was surprisingly good on Sunday, Hammond only partially ruined the NASCAR feature, the China bit was interesting and Matt LeBlanc is actually interested in cars.

When they started that Star in a reasonably priced car thing, they only had people interested in cars, and never plugged anything they had done. If we want to hear about his latest film, we can watch the gay Irish chap instead.

I thought the NASCAR feature was very good this week. Gave some insight into a sport that I know next to nothing about, which I appreciated.

Seemed to revert from the "wackiness" last week. A welcome change.

Enjoyed the Nascar bit. Thought the Chinese bit was boring as hell and I'm sure they've done something similar before? I think I may have fallen asleep before the end, which sums it up.

Watched the first two eps on catch up last week and thought they were ok so recorded last night's and just watched it.

Utter shite.

Don't understand why they do shit like that anymore. It's not really fun or enjoyable. Fantastic, Hammond flipped a car, hammond blew up the wrong trailer, Jeremy ruined the arse end of a 80k Jag. Can we please fecking get on with doing something entertaining.

The best ones are always when they do something motorsport based, like the Britcar event.

I hope Colin is watching this, as even Hammond admits the new 911 looks the same as the old one and that they've ruined it.

Off road mobility scooters? Seriously?

See this is the shit they need to stop doing, it's not funny and it's not worthwhile.

Well they can't keep buying old cars taking long journeys have break downs etc... They have to try and freshen things up. But I think new presenters is the only way to do that

I'd lost it before then...I mean, what is the effin point of ragging round an ice track in two six figure sum four wheel drive cars...can you imagine the meeting they had to come up with that idea? It's the Clarkson factor.

Funnily enough though I think off road mobility scooters are a great idea. If I had no leg use I'd still like to go out in the rugged countryside rather than bimble round some shite shopping centre. It'd be one hell of a sense of exploration rather than wondering whether to ride over to Greggs for a pasty.

And he's the world's authority I suppose? You can't go on about what shite Top Gear is and what a twat Hammond is then as soon as he comes up with something that you'd like to agree with, point at the TV & say, there, there, Hammond says so, it must be true!

You read Evo don't you? Autocar is serious car magazine, have a look at that.

The new 991 is a fecking revelation, they moved the game on again, who cares what it looks like...

 chill Winston! Hammond is possibly more of a 911 fanboy than you so I just found it slightly telling that even he admitted the addition of electric steering meant it had lost a quintessential 911 feel.

I do like Evo but unfortunately haven't read it for some time, and I always felt they were ott in their Porsche adoration anyway.

Try reading Car instead, they hate Porsche with a vengeance and virtually every cover has the headline, Xxxxx the new 911/Boxster etc etc :boring::boring::boring:

One of the many reasons why I stopped subscribing to Car, along with it being generally shite. When Jethro Bovingdon came in it improved a little, but then they had him group testing MPVs & I couldn't take it any longer.

Good to see Jethro back at Evo now.

Your new user name is utter shite btw...

Wasn't Hammond hypnotised into becoming a Porsche lover?

This show jumped the shark years ago. I can't believe so many people still watch it!

Top Gear never really jumped the shark, the quality has just degraded into mindless potty humor. There are times when it's generally class, and if they got rid of the obviously fake stunts, it would go a long way to taking the show back to how it use to be. The Indian special for example was their worst big special. Other than that, they've been class. Amazon, Vietnam, Polar etc. Even the holy one was pretty good.

For what it's worth this is probably their best episodes since 2009:

Romanian road trip
Lancia episode
Bolivia Special
German Saloon car trip
British sportscar history
USA Road Trip number 2
Middle East Special
Albanian road trip
Second hand BMW episode
Jeremy Races the sun across Britain
High Performance hatch back
Hammond and Clarkson cheap car episode
Hammond and the Army Rally team

And the first two episodes of this season.

So there still is some quality 'in fact apart from 1 episode, Season 17 was actually very much a return to form' but it's let down by the likes of the last two episodes which leave a very bitter taste in the mouth.

I think the Vietnam one was the last one I properly watched. The supposed hilarity of the model ship and the stars and stripes motorbike was the end for me.

What I fail to understand is how so many people profess to hate the program, hate the presenters and everything else about it yet tune in every week just to have a bitch....I hate X factor/pop idol/z listers prance around a dance floor and all that shite....so I have this really weird radical concept......I DONT WATCH IT and instead spend my time doing/watching something I like.

I used to rush home to watch it, in the early days, now I watch it if I'm in.

Exactly, if all the people who hate it, yet still watch it decided not to watch it then the BBC might cancel it or change the presenters/format.

I remember the very old Top Gear with William Woollard et al and I miss the more balanced and technical aspects of it. I don't suppose people are too interested but here's a clip of the old show.

For current day stuff I like watching the EVO magazine videos if I want to see a review of a car or even a comparison.

I've a really good idea for how to make a great improvement to the show.

Sack Hammond.

He'd just turn up somewhere else and maybe ruin a good show. He must be done in.
