Top 4 race 2016/17

Finally seeing positive signs, add a prolific striker (or one of the ones we have hit form) and i believe we will start picking up good points

We can not get any momentum at all. 2 wins in 9... i would be absolutely over the moon if we scrape fourth.

So frustrating that we should be 6 points better off with the last 3 games at home.

Can be positive all we like but if we can't pick up points when we play well, it's curtains.

Even if we had won we wouldn't get top four. We're not good enough.

We are out of the title race. I hope we can scrape top 4. Give Mou another season to weed out the weak mentality players.

You all need to stop sulking over this being the match that decided there is no top 4 for us. We haven't looked capable of a top 4 finish since week 3.

Gonna need big favours from other teams today if we want any scrap of hope.

Such fine margins. Had we fecking held on today we'd be 3 points behind and feeling optimistic.

It's a horrible feeling to know it's probably done and dusted and it's not even Christmas yet. Maybe if we bring in some unexpected superstars in January, but even then we need to not only improve our own form drastically but also hope at least one of the current top 4 shits the bed and collapses, and THEN hope it's not Spurs who move into the gap instead of us. We've left us ourselves relying on so many outside factors and we're only 11 games into the season.

6 points at most behind top 4?
Thing is we have to hope that we win games and the other teams drop points. Other teams have been more consistent and with Liverpool, City, Arsenal and Chelsea especially it is hard to see where they'll drop points. Today was a huge opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Great point for Arsenal but awful for us.

Our season already feels like it's over. I'm well used to it now though.
This is the worst part for me. Already have missed more games this season than the entirety of last season. The only thing Mourinho is known for is results and we are much worse off in that regard compared to LVG.

We just can't seem to get going, and there seems no weak link above us to fall into our lap should we hit a run of form.

Sad thing is missing out will really cost us this season.

Well City, Arsenal and Liverpool cant win all the time. They cant be that good for the whole season. Saying all that we should win our games to take any given advantage.

Cant see it, even if we improve, the gap seems to get bigger each week. Really annoyed - how can we spend a fortune, and still be this bad? Some of these players dont have the spine to play for this club.

That's the crazy thing, we probably were better off with the Dutch lunatic. That's how bad it is.

Pathetic posts every where. Get ahold of yourselves. We still in November ffs! Weren't we like 6 points ahead of Tottenham at this stage last year?

Tottenham has been drawing too many games

Arsenal (after this display) are overrated

Didn't Man city just draw with a shite team recently?

Apart from chelsea and Liverpool, I honestly honestly don't think the rest are consistent enough to write off our top 4 chance.

Have some faith. Its f*cking november

There is just no reason atm to talk about this. First we should put at least a 3-4 game winning run together which we seem totally incapable of nowadays.

Even if we miss top 4 I wouldnt sack Jose. Progress in our play is obvious.

I do agree with this, and I like Jose, but we can't be satisfied with what we seeing right now just becasue it is better than the football of Moyes and LvG, improvement on this was never going to be that difficult.

If we keep progressing then we should do well still this season, if it stagnates and we finish where we are then I have to admit I'd be a little worried, especially with the type of manager Jose is.

I agree, every game I see improvement, maybe I'm too optimistic but after last 3 years we need any improvement we can get. Sure, it can happen that we stop with that and end up being even worse than last 3 years. We will see.

The thing that is more concerning is that we arent getting 3 points even when we play well unlike Arsenal and City or even unlike us under LVG. Unless Zlatan or Rashford or Rooney start having a season to remember from next GW we aren't finishing in top 4

Pointless talking about us being in the top four until we start stringing some wins together.

Stoke lost yesterday. We're as close to them in 13th, which is three points off the relegation zone, as we are to Arsenal.

Nothing is done and dusted. Decisions and results will turn. If we had Arsenal's luck this season, we'd be 2nd or 3rd (and have created an oppo meltdown) but we haven't. We just have to ride the storm but I'm confident results will come.

I agree, weve already played Chelsea, Liverpool, Asnl and City. The results havent been great but all the top teams will play eachother and things can turn.

We just need to get some momentum behind us.

I'm feeling a hell of a lot more confident in our chances after yesterday. We dominated a very good arsenal team and it's extremely unfortunate we didn't get the 3 points.

A lot of people have been talking about our progress under mourinho and I saw it for the first time yesterday. Love the midfield combo and even at the back and with an odd back 4, we looked very solid.

Football changes quickly and with another 26 games to go, we're far from out of the top 4 race yet.

I've said elsewhere that after the Burnley and Stoke games we needed 30 points from 10 games to even be in with a sniff of a title - 24/25 will put us into the Euro mix. I'm still holding the latter as a viable target - we aren't playing that bad.

In our first title winning year of 92-93, we had 21 points at roughly the same point, 14 games in to a 42 game season, as opposed to our current tally of 19 points 12 games into a 38 game season. Unfortunately we pulled a one-off Cantona out of the hat and the rest is history, but my point is we aren't high and dry just yet, we need to have faith.

Im happier than last season in terms of our effort and the style. Ok results have not been great, but I expect the tide to turn. Realistically I am expecting us to finish 5th or 6th this season.

You can't write off top 4 in November with a squad like this. The team are playing better and with a further improvement in the teams mentality it can be achieved. Jose knows how to motivate players so while it's not going to be easy it is still possible.
