The report is so different from the headline though, they're basing it on "reports" which most likely came form ESPN.

I'll get more excited when Ogden reports it.

Goal.com are now reporting it as well.. it's officially off!

Goal.com fecking party poopers :*(

I think if we sign Kroos, asking for Vidal/Fabregas too might be a bit too much muppetness and unnecessary. Rooney can be a great #10, just as Mata and perhaps Kagawa, and we need a defensive midfielder too in our line up, we already have Carrick, Fletcher, Fellaini for that, and possibly Cleverly and Phil Jones although I doubt he would play there under Van Gaal. Strootman in 12 months when he's fit again and played two season for Roma would be nice to replace Carrick with in 2015.

He can't. Rooney is fcuking awful as a #10.

Kroos and Carrick, now there's a pacy midfield. If we were to sign Kroos surely it's as a replacement for Carrick and seeing as he is already much better than Carrick it would mean he'd take his place in the starting 11

Imagine the papers have heard it wrong, instead of Shaw and Kroos we end up with Shawcross

:lol::lol::nervous:

Pretty brilliant I must say.

Mirror saying we are looking to fight Liverpool for Konoplyanka too. He'd be a very good addition for the left side I reckon.

Like when he scored in a Champions League final playing there? Or scoring twice against City playing there last season? Or do you mean the whole season where played mostly as a ten and scored shitloads of goals? Don't forget that Thomas Müller played as a #10 mostly in Van Gaal's line up when he won the double and made it to Champions League final, if Müller could do that in Van Gaal system, Rooney most definitely can.

You mean it would be like Xavi/Busquets slow? Or Carrick/Scholes slow? Both midfields done alright with them on it. Van Gaal doesn't really rate pace in centre midfield, he was a centre midfielder himself and people laughed at him because he was so slow, I think that's where it comes from. And that's why I also think he will have soft spot for Carrick. At Bayern he played with Scheinsteiger/Van Bommel in cm, pretty slow too. And playing with a high back line, we'll have Jones and Smalling who are really fast and also Evans who's struck me as pretty fast to cover up. Ball always rolls quicker than the muscles is something I heard van Gaal say a lot.

Literally nothing in the German media about a deal for Kroos

Let's look at EVERY top team right now and there's energy in the centre of the park, there's a difference between being quick and being slow, especially when you have two slow players in there. If we are looking at history then we could deduct Van Gaal prefers to play with one player dictating play and not two. If Kroos is dictating play then what is Carrick doing?

I think you missed the part where I asked about Busquets/Xavi. And Carrick/Scholes, what was Carrick doing there? And for Spain Busquets/Alonso even slower. Modric/Xabi is not pacy either, I think unless Van Gaal suddenly became an idiot, he prefers two great passers over one, but he'll work with whats available.

Sitting on the bench, where he deserves to be after his last season or two.
