Had a bit of a mare today. His passing is usually near faultless but he's had more than a couple of strays. I'd have him in an absolute heartbeat though, he's utter class.

He's hit 113/127 so far today

Bayern's best performer tonight, not amazing but hardly a mare

His passing was great but his workrate really let him down sometimes. If you look at Modric and how he controlled the game and still was at both ends of the pitch, it's a stark contrast. But Pep had a mare playing him and Schweinsteiger

Yea this guy just isn't good enough to wear a United shirt. I want someone of Ronaldo's quality or nothing.

:wenger: He'd clearly be a fantastic edition to our squad. His ability to switch the ball instantly would be so beneficial to us.

I've maintained from the beginning that he's not the one I go far. Walks through games, and pretty much just stands there and plays the Valencia pass all day. A talent, but not talented enough to not put in the work. We need dynamic central midfielders. Obviously they must be able to pass too.

Are you all having a laugh? You can throw stats about all you want but for a player usually so faultless he had three or four very obvious stray long passes in the first half. Also gave away three free kicks in good positions, one of which resulted in a goal. Also chased back poorly during the counter. He's excellent, but he wasn't anywhere near their best player today.

I didn't say he was a bad player. In fact I said he was utter class and I'd have him in a heartbeat, which I absolutely would.

he's a very good player and an excellent passer.....

id prefer a player like Fabregas any day of the week though - a genuine playmaker

as Anderson suggests he doesnt influence the game like Modric or Scholes used to

he's young and maybe that influence will develop - at the minute he'd walk into our team - not a great endorsement though

either way i wouldnt be paying 200k a week to him - more fool us if we do

I think the figures bandied about are more reflective of Moyes United

Fergie's United generally didn't and Van Gaal's United (if it transpires that way) will probably not go down the road of Moyes in attempting to overpay on players - throwing cash at problems

Strootman and Erickson cost around the 10 million mark for their clubs - is there a huge difference in quality between Strootman, Erickson and Kroos?

Report on Fox Sports just said that LvG wants Kroos and Reus at Man Utd which makes no sense since VG hasn't been hired yet.

Be my guest, buy Kroos.
He once again did nothing to put a stamp on the game. He never does when the offense around him isn't doing well already (and they don't need him to click at all). His expression, his body language, his attitude... it all screams to me that all he cares about by now are his amazing 90+% passing stats. Seriously, for 40 million I'd carry the guy to Manchester myself.

(To clarify: He's not the only one at fault here, other players were shite as well. The one to really blame is Pep. He decided to play Kroos instead of Martinez, for instance...)

Great passer that lad but he has no pace. For the 3rd goal I cant help but feel that he was lazy in tracking back, either that or he cant really run.
It's always the danger with converted attacking players - their defensive instinct is piss poor in those kinds of situations.

Fwiw I'd pay £35m now for the next Carrick.

I'd pay £70m for the next Scholes.

Thread worthy perhaps. He'd definitely be above that 30-40m level. And if Cavani, amazingly, is somehow considered in the 60m bracket it makes you wonder. Off topic, but the midfield two from '99 would be worth around the figures quoted for our war chest. The whole midfield 4, North of 200m

A fairly big one, yes.

He's not at the level of players like Gundogan and Pogba as he doesn't rip teams open or score goals like the very best do...He's a bit like Carrick on Steroids in that he is very neat without dominating midfields on his own......He would still be a monster upgrade on Cleverly and we haven't a hope of signing the likes of the Pogbas and the Yaya Toures so I'd take him in a heartbeat

I taught he was utilized poorly by Pep today. Wasn't he playing as a regista today? Isn't he a better box to box creative midfielder?

I saw that he had a Fellaini-esque nonchalant urgency in tracking some Real Madrid player on the counter. Which might be a concern if we want to adopt a "total football" approach.

He's too slow and not good enough defensively to be considered a "creative box to box midfielder". He's very good at distributing the balls and ocassionaly tries for goal with a decent shot. His creative potential, however, is massively overrated in my eyes. He's actually very predictable in 9/10 games.

The 8 is his position: Not dynamic and willing to do something unpredictable and risky enough for 10, not strong, fast or generally good enough on defense to play the lone 6.

He's just a completely different type of player from Gundogan and Pogba though. Deep lying playmaker rather than box to box. Would need a strong defensive partner in the big games but as far as creative midfielders playing from deep there aren't many better.

Anybody doubting Kroos should watch how he performed for Bayern last season till his injury. When he is played as the playmaking midfielder, he is very very good. I say buy this guy.

For anything more than 25m most Bayern fans would carry him to Manchester. It's ugly on the Bayern forums regarding him.

I think it's mainly due to him playing where Martinez should be playing every single game. Even if they sold Kroos, there's no guarantee that Pep would play Martinez as their DM - which is what the fans ultimately want. Saw it turning into a 'it's either Martinez or Pep' situation on a Bayern forum. I think most would opt for the former.

My answer would be: Watch the first game against Juve and see how the game changed when Kroos had to go out injured and Müller played the 10 with Schweinsteiger and Martinez behind him. Then watch what they did against Barca without Kroos. We've never played better attacking, decisive football.

He will hardly be used like that if we get him. Toni Kroos will be used for his distribution and keeping the ball, something which he likes. A similar kind of role which Scholes had in his later years. He will be played in the middle of the park, not as a no.10. We have Mata, Kagawa, Rooney for that.

a sitting midfielder....someone who sticks to his position reeks of Moyes tactics

I'm sure Fletcher was interviewed and stated that Moyes wanted his central midfielders to sit

Kroos would still be a good signing at the right price but not alongside a defensive player - alongside a playmaker

Alongside Fibreglass

I've soured on Kroos a bit. He's does seem rather static and timid at times despite the 90 % pass ratings. Watching Modric run the show tonight IMO we should target this goat instead.

That pace, that skill, that dribbling in our midfield..:drool::drool:

That is worrisome . Everything I taught I knew about Kroos has been thrown out the window.

I still think he is a great player, like an attacking improvement on Carrick. But, I do not believe that is what we need in our midfield if it is true about his creative ability being overrated.

I still maintain my opinion that Mateo Kovacic, Strootman(due to tactical awareness and potential leadership quality) or any quality dynamic box to box midfielder are much more needed in our team to balance out the likes of Carvalho and Carrick natural ability. Maybe Kroos is a prefered option towards Carvalho in that holding role? I think that would be the wrong choice if we head in that direction.
