But Kroos ain't Schweinsteiger. He might want to have his wage but he just does not offer the same. Schweinsteiger is the team leader on and off the pitch - something Kroos will never be - or what the officials think he will never be. Has a lot value with the fans and the partners, too. We did not win the CL with Kroos - we might have won it because Kroos was injured...

The Götze story is something really different.

I totally understand that point of view. But you must admit that since his injury Schweinsteiger just isn't the same anymore and he doesn't fit Peps system that well. Look I understand your or Balu point but you would agree with me that Kroos is a world class midfielder am I right? For him to be wanting to be paid like the world class player that he is I think is simply fair. It's the problem with having so many world class players, it's difficult to keep them all happy.

I can only imagine if Moyes had ended this pursuit. People would be losing it. LvG will hopefully know what he is doing then.

Given the number of player we missed last year, I will really be careful this year with any rumors.

Kroos can use us to get a new contract at Bayern, especially when he's German, playing for the biggest club of his country, and Pep still likes him. So to me, this transfer is still about dream.

The same for Fabregas...

I'm sorry but I'm really perplex

What amazes me is that when he seems to become available, that's when we annouce that we have no interest. I don't really care about not signing him because I'd prefer two other midfielders, but I don't see why we wouldn't be interested if he is available, which appears to be the case after what the Bayern president said today.

I have a feeling this will be an awful transfer window.

Bayern are not going to sell him so I would expect if Kroos does not sign a new offer us to have a pre-contract in January.

If that will be the case, we may already start looking for someone on Woodward's place after his statements about signings.

If we only sign one midfielder, say Fabregas as an example, and Kroos was actually available and we didn't sign him, and we end up playing Carrick, I'd be absolutely disgusted. We need two midfielders.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't LVG just recently say that he doesn't get involved in transfer dealings? He lets the club know who he wants and leaves the rest to them right?

If so Kroos is either on his list or he isn't and LVG isn't suddenly stepping in to stop a transfer that he never wanted to go ahead from doing so.

Yes it sounded something like that but the list may easily change through the world cup and after that. It's a dynamic thing and a lot of stuff depends on communication between chairman and new manager.

We're probably going to end up with one or two signings and most and they'll be underwhelming. Neither of them will be midfielders.

There, I said it.

Yes, he lets the club know who he wants and it's supposed to be sorted by other people. In this case he might have simply let the club know that he doesn't want Kroos.

He'll be signed. The way bayern have come out and say they don't want to sell and pep saying it's up to kroos, it sounds like they're trying to cover themselves up and putting all the blame squarely on kroos when he does leave.

Meh. If United don't want to meet Bayern's fee then it makes sense for them to leak a story that we've lost interest and are considering other options. Could be a negotiating tactic.

Or maybe Van Gaal really doesn't fancy him? Or perhaps Kroos had a change of heart?

None of us have any clue about any of the above. No point in getting emotionally invested in any of this bollox. You'll drive yourself crazy.

True...

...but I say that as someone whose muppetry is directed at Fabregas. :p

What concrete proof have we? We know for a fact that Kroos is haggling over a new deal, and that Moyes was spotted talking to a bald fella who looked like his agent. Other than that, i guess it's all speculation.

Most likely tbf. if not they might just be covering their backs in case it doesn't go through after the public dealings for fabregas.

We have got some papers saying it on, others saying its off. I can't take this. I hate the summer.

One report comes out that we're not in it any more and everyone gives up. I still reckon we're signing him

I'm tending to agree although I think we'll get one midfielder. If we don't improve dramatically then I cannot see us getting anywhere near the title or even the top 4.

Some papers who all followed an article but an idiot journalist in the Daily Mail. I heard him on Talksport last night, he hadn't a damn clue. The Telegraph is a lot more reputable.

It could also simply be Bayern making it clear they won't sell him at any price now, and rather risk letting him go for free next season. They did the same with Ballack as well, right ?? Thiago is out, so they may need him next season.

I think Bayern are doing a 'Lewandowski'. Forcing the player to stay regardless of their wishes. Players these days have too much power, and it seems in this situation Bayern are trying to hold on to the player and perhaps he'll leave on a free transfer next summer (or perhaps even in the winter transfer window).

If we're not going to get him anyways, I think it is a smart tactic by us to release a statement this early to the press that we aren't going to pursue just one player (like last season re Fabregas). Kroos' agent said a month ago he'll stay at Bayern until 2015 anyways.

We should remember one bird in hand is better than two in a bush, and pursue targets we can get.
