I wonder why we pulled out. Just last week Mark Ogden was reporting that we can do the deal before the WC and now we have pulled out. Did other players become available?

All we need now is for LVG to decide he doesn't want Shaw and Woodward's last couple of months will have been entirely wasted. Plus ca change...

How the flip can the papers go from "£20M Kroos agreed deal" to "Van gaal isnt interested" :wenger:

They really are getting worse and worse.

Because Bayern have the unique situation that none of their players so far really went for the market value. Müller is being paid about 120k per week, when he could've easily made 180k+ in the open market. You can't expect every player to take a loyality discount. Also it's not like Bayern can't afford it, they simply don't want to afford it. Schweinsteiger is on 10m€, which I think would Kroos sign in a heart beat. If they don't want him to be one of their key players, I think it's a fair decision to leave for a club where he is valued, in both ways.
But we can't afford it? If we pay players like Kroos as much as Schweinsteiger, our overall wage bill explodes and we simply can't let that happen. The fact that one of the few even richer clubs offer him significantly more than we're paying our best players doesn't make it a 'fair' price. It just means that one of richest clubs in the world uses their financial power to sign a player. There's nothing wrong with it, but don't make it sound like we're not offering 'fair' prices to our players, that's just very very wrong.

Mike Keegan strikes me as someone who doesn't have a clue.

As soon as a story is going down one route he jumps on it and if it you turns he will immediately jump back.

That's right Mike, I only like you when it sounds good to my muppet ears.

What is clear, is that there is nothing imminent, hence the negative bandwagon that is rolling.

So honigstein said he is likely to leave now.

Like I said that article has no quotes or anything.
Why would there be quotes? And who would be quoted?

People have to stop going on about quotes in these transfer stories.

Transfer muppet Scholes also wants Kroos here. :)

Paul Scholes was never one for the limelight as a player, however since retiring the Ginger Prince has began doing more and more work in the media. Back in March he appeared on Sky Sports as a pundit, and this morning we were treated to a blog written by him forPaddy Power.

He kicked things off by praising David de Gea’s performances in goal for the club this season, and claimed that our young keeper is the only player who can come out of this season with any credit.

Scholes then began to talk about England’s talismanic figure Wayne Rooney, as the World Cup is obviously fast approaching.

“He’s got a brilliant scoring record for his country with 38 goals in 89 internationals, but he’s played in eight World Cup games without a goal. You expect more of him. If Wayne is going to be one of the best footballers in the world, this World Cup is where he has to produce” Scholes said.

He added that Wayne Rooney probably feels the pressure of playing for his country, and Scholes added that he himself never performed the way he would’ve liked for his country. The ex-midfielder added that Roy Hodgson should have the strength to drop Rooney if he doesn’t pick up his form for the Three Lions quickly, and suggested that Rooney, 28, could well take over Scholes’ midfield spot in the Manchester United team as he matures.

Next up on the agenda for Scholes was Ed Woodward, firstly Scholes stated that he probably wouldn’t be at United next season:

“I’ve not spoken to Edward Woodward. I came back for Ryan Giggs for the last few games to try to help out but I’m not waiting for a phonecall and don’t expect to be at Old Trafford next season.”

Whilst its sad that another member of the Class of 92 looks like leaving Old Trafford for the time being, Louis van Gaal should be given the chance to bring in his own staff members, similarly to David Moyes.

Scholes added that Ed Woodward has to prove his worth, and quickly to Manchester United. Woodward is credited with the disappointing summer last year in which United only managed to bring Marouane Fellaini into the club, for a huge £27.5m fee.

“Edward Woodward has an awful lot to prove this time that he’s good enough at his job.” He said. “He has to bring the players in that the new manager wants. It’s obvious that last year he didn’t manage to do that. If he doesn’t, we are not going to get anywhere near the top.”

Rather surprisingly, Scholes didn’t hold back. He finished by suggesting that Manchester United need at least five players to get back to former glories, and that adding Toni Kroos to the squad would definitely be a start.

“The first player I’d bring in is Toni Kroos. He’s a top-class central midfield player but United need five or six to get anywhere near the top of the Premier League again.”Scholes said.

Let's just say it was a choice between Kroos and Fabregas since Kroos and Fabregas together would probably be too attacking in a two-man midfield. Who would you want? I'd have Fabregas personally.

Are you so sure...

We watched a year of Kroos and van Gaal at Bayern - that was no love...

I dont think we will sign him, however, Jamie Jackson and Mike Keegan are not the ones to take note of on ANY utd related activity.

As you were.....

There'll be others. I still think it's odd this was leaked seemingly all at once, unless everyone else is just using Jackson as a source. I don't get what any club gains by denying anything as surely if you're not after Kroos, having clubs who own players you are after think that you are, is useful

It's obvious van Gaal will transcend into tactical nirvana with the implementation of a successful formation not featuring a midfield. Bring it on.

Kroos. For a few reasons. His age being one. I still think Arsenal will be getting Cesc before we do.

Not all transfer stories are deliberately planted by the club's communication department. Sometimes it's just some random employee saying something he shouldn't be saying.

If Bayern are willing to let Kroos go then I am guessing that they must have a deal in place behind the scenes for someone like Pogba, Vidal, Xabi Alonso, Xavi or Lars bender or someone along those lines

Fabregas hasn't played in a deeper position since God knows when, so if there was a choice between the two I'd have gone for Kroos.

The last time he did, though, he was top-5 in the world in that position. As good as Kroos is, you can't say that about him. Fabregas is undoubtedly the better footballer for me. The question is can he regain his old form?

Not too surprising, van gaal apparently wasn't a huge fan of him when he was at bayern himself. Though I'm still not sure if that's even true, as Jamie Jackson just says pretty much anything. We'll see.
