Jamie Jackson or not, he's probably the most high profile journo to comment on this today. Bad signs if that's true.

Not really. Miguel is better than him, as is Mark Ogden. I don't rate Jackson, he's wrong too often.

James Ducker, one of the most reliable for United IMO, retweeted Jamie Jackson. :(

So honigstein said he is likely to leave now.

Like I said that article has no quotes or anything.

He seriously is the worst journo.
Love it, a journo is reliable when he says what a muppet wants to hear, rubbish when he says what a muppet does not want to hear.

This story is as likely to be legit as all the gossip from the Mirror etc that a deal was close.

What makes me suspicious is why has he only ended our interest today, lunch time Thursday when he's away with the Dutch squad?

United may well be letting the journos know that United are not chasing Kroos, as they know he's just looking for a better deal from Bayern. Better to kill the muppet dreams quickly before the little darlings gets upset.

He wouldn't be a United manager without having an aversion to signing decent midfielders. To the Keith Andrews thread.

Too true mate.

It's as if whoever comes in contact with the club is cursed into thinking our midfield is perfectly fine.

I don't get why we have to call fans who want us to sign players 'muppets'. Are non-muppets those who don't want us to sign anyone?

I think it's a self identifying term. Those who are utterly obsessed with the transfer window.

It's not a question of ending our interest all of a sudden. It's a question of reacting to all the newspaper headlines that Kroos was as good as signed.

YESTERDAY, the Daily Express told its readers that Toni Kroos had signed for Manchester United. That story was picked up all over the mainstream media. All the story lacked to make it ring true was: a quote from the player or his agent; a fee; a statement from either club, one of which trades on the New York Stock Exchange, where investors might be interested in what would be a multi-million dollar investment; and any named person willing to go on the record to corroborate theExpress‘ scoop.

Amongst the paper of record repeating the Express’ ball was the Daily Mirror, which reported “United have agreed deal in principle with Bayern for midfielder Toni Kroos”.

One day on, and the Mirror reports:

Man United target Toni Kroos will NOT be offered improved contract at Bayern, hints club president

Well, no. He’s already agreed a deal with United. Right? The Mirror then adds:

The German international is a long-term target for the Red Devils, and is unlikely to get the deal he wants from the Bundesliga champions

Unlikely? What happened to “won’t”?

Want to hear what Bayern president Karl Hopfner told German magazine Kicker? Here goes:

“Kroos is under contract until 2015. There will certainly be more talks. But eventually the player has to say what he wants. We will not overstep certain financial limits.”

So. Kroos remains a Bayern Munich player. Or as the Mail says today:

A £20million deal for Kroos was agreed when David Moyes was still in charge at Old Trafford and his successor, former Bayern coach Louis van Gaal, has said the move can go ahead.

Such are the facts in the season of transfer balls…

Jamie Jackson is the one who said Southampton rejected or bid for Shaw and the next day wrote an article about the prospect of the deal as if he never said it

He's also the same Jamie Jackson who uses his own articles as sources. It's a never ending cycle of factless, quoteless stories.

If it is true then LVG must be after someone else but who? Who is better and available? Cesc perhaps? I hope he isn't putting all he's eggs in the Strootman basket over Kroos which would be idiotic.

Kroos/Fabregas midfield?

not sure we have the steel we need there....unless van Gaal is going to have Rooney play at the top of that 3 man midfield.

Unless???? Those 3 in midfield would see getting trounced! Zero balance whatsoever. If (and its a huge if) the intention is too pursue both fabregas and kroos then there would be a requirement for a defensive midfielder to anchor as part of a 3 man midfield.

Anyhoo, i dont see us getting either of them nevermind both.
