Not sure why our young players like Cleverley and Anderson look knackered after 90 minutes of football.

two injury prone players who've sat out long periods of football through injury struggle for fitness, hardly a surprise. What's daft is the failure to address this but that drums been beaten so many times it's pointless even bothering.

Shame we don't have a player to rotate with him; he and Carrick have to play basically every game with Scholes and Fletcher out, Jones also and Anderson with his fitness the way it is.

He gets rotated quite a bit despite our CM problems.

He was shockingly poor today. But I could rant about him but I'm more upset that SAF didn't see it or if he did, that he didn't bother to change it. It was obvious that we were being overrun in midfield, twas Carrick v 3.

Some bullshit comments in here after one bad game. Can't a bad game just be that? A bad game? He's played very well this season and will only get better. Shut Yaya down by himself. Not many players can say that. Will bounce back soon if the knee Jerkers don't get on his case too badly.

Thought he's been looking a little of form for the past couple of games, though he was pretty good against Real. I guess it's to be expected, he's still quite young but it is a bit disappointing. I'd really like him to hold his ground a bit more though. It's something I've said before, I just think when we need to get a foothold in a game it'd be better for him to just keep his position rather than run out wide, or push on quickly.

SAF just admitted the midfield was "tired". He must really not trust Anderson.

Maybe he should start putting an effort in training. We need more numbers there next season. He can't have players and not want to use them.

He's far too hit and miss in big names.

I really like him, but we can't go into games reliant upon a player who is just as likely to be absolutely abysmal as he is wonderful. Need to see him start developing a better base level.

Young players are going to put in shockers more often than older players. It happens.

I'm not sure what is spurring some of the comments in here. He's going to be fantastic for United for years to come.

Dreadful. Why Fergie refused to take him off I can't understand

Who could have come on though? That's the main issue here.

Inconsistancy is to be expected in young players breaking into the team.

On the whole he's been very good in our big games this season. You're just letting the last 2 games cloud your judgement.

He's clearly good enough as he's shown a majority of this season. If it wasn't for him finally stepping up and partnering Carrick we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are in the league currently.

He does need to work on his consistency though, but he's young enough that that shouldn't be a problem.

Hmmm....Anderson?

Not sure he is trusted much anymore tbh and has been in a poor run of form himself.

Could have used Scholesy being fit today. Needed someone to come on and calm us down. Ando really doesn't fit that mould. :p

He was wank against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as well.

Anderson obviously. We need to bring on a fresh natural midfielder for the obviously out of sorts Cleverly. At worst we could have even placed Rooney alongside Carrick. I can't see how anyone can think it was big dilemma to remove Cleverley playing that way.

"on the whole"

But you can't take 'on the whole' as a general barometer of consistency.

Of course 'on the whole' he's been good in those games, he wouldn't start them if he hadn't been, but he has been liable to absolute aberrations in them as well, which is a worry when you're reliant on him.

If he is not trusted much than we should have bought a midfielder in January after Fletch was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Makes no sense that he didn't come in for an absolutely tired Cleverley.

Yeah, we should have bought a midfielder in the summer in itself but not having done that buying in January wasn't ever likely. You know how Picky and choosy SAF is with midfielders ?

And i don't get why Clev was tired in the first place ? He's early 20's and hasn't played for a while till mid week.

I think a few over reactions in this thread! Yes didn't have a great game today but he's come on leaps and bounds this season. And let's bet honest at least Carrick can play alongside him, when Fletcher played, Carrick never looked good.

Perhaps. But I could see why Fergie made the changes he did. I guess there's 2 ways of Fergie looking at it. Either change the forwards around because they're not performing or change the midfield to feed the forwards.

Fergie went with forwards, which is normal for him.

Which is normal for young players breaking into the team. Probably doesn't help that we're already quite reliant on him. In an ideal situation he could take a step back to recover a bit of form or whatever. We don't have that luxury.

Huh ? That's because Carrick is playing better these days than he was back then irrespective of his partner as was witnessed against Norwich or QPR.

Not quite sure how you managed to slag Fletcher off in a thread about Cleverley in a game where Fletcher wasn't involved but you did.

Kudos to you sir.
