His passing was woeful tonight, just goes to show he isn't ready (yet).

Almost like he's just back from injury and playing against one of the hardest working midfields we've faced in 10 years.

a 3 out of 10 performance that, but having him out on the right just made little sense considering Park was out there. Really not one to remember.

Was quite poor for most the game but towards the end when he came inside he was much better. He is not a winger and shouldn't be judged based on his performances in the wrong position.

Had a quality battle with Evra and Park for worst player on the pitch tonight.

Think Patrice shaded it.

This. He was played out wide on the right in some sort of lopsided, confusing as feck lineup. Couple that with the fact that we barely had the ball in decent positions and you can understand why he never got into the game.

Doesnt excuse the performance today.

Didnt take us much longer to declare him as the next coming.

Oh and to the one saying he is a way better player than Anderson:

Stuart Pearce tried to play him out on the right before, it pretty much went like tonight. He's not a winger, and Park isn't a midfielder (although, I can just about see the sense in putting Park in there for his hustle. Obviously didn't work tonight).

His best moment in the game came from a drive from the centre.

He started well, perhaps the only plus point in the first half. But then seriously faded out and lacked the influence he had in the first part of the season

People are saying he should be in the first 11 this summer for England. I think he should rather be in the Olympics. I've seen him play 2-3 good games for United. Thought he was okay for Wigan. He still has a long way to go to me some kind of answer for our midfield troubles.

First full game back?
He stays fit, he will be very important in the run-in.

It's sad to agree but you're right. Far away from int'l level.

Almost like we needed more than 5 games to declare him our saviour.

Agree completely. Such unrealistic expectations based on feck all really, Anderson was better at the start of the season anyway.

He hasn't played in a long while and he came back into a team that struggled. No surprise he didn't perform. But if he takes anything from tonight it has to be holding onto the ball. He wasn't good enough in possession.

Missed the first half so I can only assume he was atrocious in it as he didn't do all that badly from what I did see. I thought he did alright when Pogba and then Welbeck came on.

In the Summer I went fecking apeshit at Stuart Pearce for playing Clev on the right just so he could shoe horn Mancienne into the centre of midfield. Tonight it was for Park.

I never thought I'd see it from Fergie...

The challenge is for him to becoming one of the to 10 players in the world in his position. This what Man United youngsters need to achieve if we are going to be competitive with the very best who will simply buy the top players if they don't already have them.

It's a big ask.

Sadly, that's actually a fair summing up of his career so far. He's been unbelievably hyped.

First start after 4 months out. Of course it does

I see a footballer needs at least 5 games to learn how to make a 2 yard pass again.

He just was shit today. Let's move on. Hopefully it was just an off day.
But as far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on him.

Just needs a run of games, not many of our players could handle the pace out there and it doesn't surprise me someone as inexperienced as Tom couldn't handle it either, I've never agreed with the expectation placed on him but SAF's and Eric Harrison's words hold weight with me. He literally just needs to stay fit and play games, I am confident he has all the tools to become a key component of the midfield base which clearly needs fixed.

I've never understood the weight of expectation placed on him. He hasn't done much to justify it. He may become a top player but he's not one yet.

This.

I wonder if we have ever had a player who has had so few games become considered our saviour and key to us playing well?

Before the game kicked off, Soccernet's main headline was Cleverley starts for United.

It's not only United fans that have overhyped him. Though still for the life of me why he'd play out wide and Park centrally - don't think anyone will have figure that one out.
