That pass to Hernandez was terrific, stacked box, very little time, but he made it look oh so natural. Impressive return.

Did OK I though. A good run out for him.

lulwut?

For long periods of the first half, our midfield two was completely being over run by Ajax's midfields three.

All things considered a great return for Cleverley, especially when you consider just how long he has been out for.

He's a very, very talented player.

Will dovetail well with pretty much everyone of our midfielders I suppose.

I thought his return was good. No more than that. Pretty solid. Good starting base for him to get to the form he showed (and better) at the beginning of the season.

Considering it was his first game i thought he did really well, it was clear to see his touch, passing and movement is truly class.

I was impressed he had that level of sharpness out there. First game back in ages and he did nothing wrong really. The accuracy of his passing was on point and he always used possession intelligently. Much more to come from him.

hopefully someone can get a youtube vid of his performance. wasn't anything spectacular but impressed with his return. like others said a good base to build off of. his passing was ever so sharp. delightful to watch

Must be one of the many reasons why Fergie let go of Morrison. Cleverley is nailed on for a first team position in midfield for many years.

Anyone betting against me that Tom is going to succeed the famous No.7 jersey soon!? ;)
To give that jersey to a top talent of our own production line whom will be our midfield general for many years to come.. nothing gonna beat the satisfaction of being able to do that!

Couldn't have done much better considering the length of time he's been out.

And that ball he clipped over the top in a crowded penalty area was exquisite.

The talent in him is so evident that I'm really impatient for him to get back to his best.I like those midfielders who keep things 'simple' while taking intelligent decisions

I wish he'd seen more of the ball. Didn't seem to get on the ball all that much. But when he had it he showed his class. Such an intelligent player.

Along with Evans, I thought Carrick, and Cleverley were our best players. Didn't help much both Nani, and Young having a bad evening. Bringing them slightly infield in the second half helped change the course of the game.

What a top player this lad could be.

His one touch passing is top notch.

Yeah. He drives up the tempo, and isn't afraid to surge forward himself as well. That point where Rooney tried to play in Young when he should've played in Cleverley was a great run from him, in the first half.

He just brings different things to the table as a midfielder. He's composed and assured when receviving the ball in tight situations, he can turn away from trouble, and his awareness is the one thing that separates him from both Anderson, Fletcher and to an extent Giggs as a midfielder. He gives us a dynamic midfield both in terms of passing and movement, and carrying the ball.

It's not that he's an amazing midfielder and one of the best in the world, it's just that he's got attributes we otherwise lack. He's good at things we need in the midfield area, so I can see him staking a claim for being first choice relatively soon.

England Under 21 midfielder Cleverly missed three months with an ankle injury and Nani is particularly pleased to see him back.

"He's been a massive miss," added Nani. "It's always good to get top players back and he's one of them."

Nani really rates him, it's hard not to get excited by Cleverley. Nearly everyone in our team speaks very highly of him.

I remember seeing a program on mutv years ago about youth players coming through the ranks etc, there was an interview with Scholes and he singled Cleverley out as a player he was excited about.

Take a look at it.

It is unacceptable.

 Unacceptable?! Dramatic much?!

i am not for one minute making comparsions about ability here...BUT....he's very very inesta'esque they way he moves the ball and angles of passes etc.

if im brutally honest i didnt think he'd make it. loaned here there and every where. when i saw him at wigan last year....didnt think much of him. decent...tidy...i thought he would follow a similar career path to chris eagles.

however he impressed me last night because he was mature enough not to try and impress. if that makes sense. he came into an away european tie after being out for months and certainly looked at home, deciplined, confident and playing his way back into it.

impressed

What in Gods name is wrong with you, Marjen?
