He is the solution to every single problem this squad currently has an nobody is in any way bigging him up too much

I get your point, but can someone point me to some of the posts that seriously suggest Cleverley is a portrayed as a 'saviour"? Seems to be another caf myth. Surely most people are excited to see him back playing without being stupid enough to think he's going to dominate matches for us.

I think he'll start against Liverpool.

Our midfield need a fresh of breath air, and Fergie rates him very highly.

Carrick/Cleverley I reckon.

There has been a way, way, way over the top expectation on the caf.

I think he will too.

He's young and injuries aside seems like a naturally fit lad and he was full of confidence. I think Fergie will have no qualms about throwing him back in at the deep end.

I know it's at Old Trafford but I really hope we do play all three of Scholes, Carrick and Cleverley in midfield. It's painful watching them dominate us in the centre and seeing us struggle for a grip on the game :(

I don't know, at OT Liverpool doesn't seem to have the confidence to press that highly against us. If teams sit off us a bit, Carrick is a really useful player offensively, and Cleverley will give us urgency and dynamic midfield play.

I'm not sure a midfield three is needed, I hope we go all out for the win with Valencia and Young on the wings, Carrick/Clev centrally and Rooney tucked in behind Welbeck.

Welcome back, I hope that his return is marked with a bit of longevity this time. If so, he'll be like a new signing.

I suppose the end of the game meant it wasn't comfortable enough to play an inexperienced player who has just returned from injury. Would have made more sense to bring on Park given the circumstances. No doubt that Clevs will feature in our next few games though.

Finally he was on the bench. So happy to see he is back. Hopefully he will get a run in the Ajax game.

Cleverley and Pogba as central midfielders vs Ajax would make the game a lot more interesting.

That's the sort of thing that got us out of the cl and league cup in the first place. Start clev sure if he's fit but not both. If we're comfortably then by all means bring Pogba on. Ideally we win the tie here and then can relax a bit for the second leg. That's when we should look to give younger players/squad players time, when the game is won.

I agree but it's just a Europa league game. Fergie got no other chance to give squad/young players minutes with such a tight title race and no other cup games left. These guys should be able to get a result vs a struggling Ajax.

De Gea/Amos

Rafael-Evans-Jones/Smalling-Fabio

Park-Cleverley-Pogba-Young

Berbatov-Hernandez

you think Pogba is ready for Europa League football? Let alone the fact that we're playing away and it's not like it's some shit side. Like Ash said, this is the type of attitude that got us knocked out of the CL. I'm not having it. We dont have a weekend game so Fergie's going to take it even more seriously and field a stronger team than the one you've proposed.

It's time to stop disrespecting our opponents

No. We don't have a game this weekend, so why not play a strong team and get a good lead and then start Pogba even for the 2nd leg. You don't want to give yourself the task of having to come back from behind for the 2nd leg.

You're slightly overrating the quality of our players. This season should make us humble

Been reading this from a a few people saying we don't have a game this weekend, so we should play our strongest team the following players definitely need a breather : Carrick, Evra, Scholes and even Valencia. They've played a lot of games and with the way our season goes, an injury is not just a matter of missing the weekend game but, several weeks.

I am not sure about starting Pogba but,

Amos, Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Fabio, Park, Jones, Cleverley, Young, Berba, Chicha would be on paper quite a good team.

The problem is a lot of these players have just been on the bench or coming of injury, so to expect a great performance out of them may be unrealistic. It's not that they aren't good enough, it's that collectively they'd not be firing on all cylinders and on form.

Throwing a bunch of players that are good but, have not been playing for whatever reason is just wishing it works out.

Um yeah so I don't know what my point is - we need to rest some players but, then the team we put out may not perform as well as we expect a United team to ... Just hope Cleverley plays.

I wouldn't go with Pogba from the start. I know the Europa League provides us with an opportunity to maybe rest some players and give youngsters a chance, but Ajax are tough opponents and I don't think we should really go and throw Pogba straight into the action. Maybe start him if we get a good win in this leg and can afford to rest players for the return tie.

I'm not sure whether Cleverley will start or not, but I've got a feeling that Fergie will put him on the bench and then bring him on towards the end of the game. He's been out for quite a while, so simply throwing him straight back into the first team could be a risky move. For this game, expect him to go with a more experienced midfield pairing. I can see us sticking with Carrick and Giggs in the centre presuming they'll both be available for the game.
