If he's still in the gym, then it's at least a week, probably more like 2-3 if he's in the gym another week and then gets the customary 2 weeks training to get up to fitness.

Or he'll train next week and play against Wigan, would be appropriate.

Where is he then?

Back in full training according to his twitter account and gossip from people who know someone at the club. Still unclear when he might return to the first team; could be on the bench against Blackburn or they might be ultra-cautious and wait till the Bolton game in mid Jan.

I didn't mean to risk his health, I meant he won't be up to match fitness, so he couldn't last the whole game, and he might be a bit sluggish. But it's only Blackburn, and he's not a player who tries to dribble around everyone so I figure he could cope.

I definitely don't want anyone rushed back from injury, but that seems to be something SAF is very good at, one Rooney ankle injury aside, in my years following United.

If we can get 2 of Rio, Smalling or Jones fit then Carrick and Gibson will be fine, of course.

I think this time he wouldve returned to full training after getting over the injury and is just building his fitness up now.

Still, been out for way too long to be thrown into the first team straight away. Fergie is easing Rafael in slowly. Dont expect Clev to start in the next few games

Never underestimate your opponent.

Still nowhere near returning to action, said Ferguson.

"Cleverley’s a massive loss. He, to my mind, is probably the best midfield player in Britain, potentially. He has fantastic promise, so it’s a loss to us."

That's quite an opinion.

It sure is
But it is amazing how one player almost completely changes the way we play, you saw it that Everton game when he came back, it was completely different to how it had been

It sure is. Way too much expectation being put on him so soon because he's still young and has much to learn. We've been playing quite well recently so it would be nice for him to return to a winning team without extra pressure.

If the Boss says it I don't think its too much too soon. Sir Alex generally has a good idea of the psychology of his players and he's brought through too many youngsters to make such an obvious mistake. If he says Cleverley can be that good its cos he believes it and he thinks Cleverley will respond well to knowing that the Boss has that much faith in him. For what (little) its worth I think Sir Alex is absolutely right.

Was going to comment on that, that is indredibly loud words from Fergie. That sentence is hard to interpret though, what does he mean by putting a 'potentially' at the end? Does he mean best potential in Britain or simply that he could be the best, as of now?

Who am I to question that opinion, love Cleverley to bits and miss his urgence dearly.

Obviously the former, as the latter would be a bit mental.

No pressure on the lad, or anything...

If you've got access to MUTV watch the latest edition of manager's press conference. The Boss was not at all shy in making the statement and he added potentially as an after thought.

If that is what Alex Ferguson really believes it is strange it took him so long to make a breakthrough.

He was asked if he thought United's early season form had returned after the two 5-0s. He responded that it was a different team now and then gave an explanation of the fact he felt the team's rhythm had been interrupted by the loss of players due to injury. The first name he mentioned was Cleverley and that's when he made his comments.

Maybe my love to Cleverley isn't so unreasonable if SAF thinks this. He's just so confident on the ball, such decisive movements, such great determination and drive, the classic United attitude.

He looked so good on his first United pre-season tour, debuting against the MLS All-Stars as i recall, I really thought he'd stay with the team, but it got me following his progress at Wigan I was so excited.

I would be amazed if SAF really expected him to come on so much so fast, though. Considering Gibson got to stay you have to figure he was rated below him. Unless Gibson was only ever supposed to be a squad player and that's why he wasn't loaned out.

Also let's consider the fact that Cleverley has been studying Xavi and Iniesta for some time now. You can see him integrating their speed of play and movement into his game. I guarantee once he starts scoring goals, people will start waxing lyrical about him.

I can see why people keep talking about excessive pressure, but none of us really know Tom Cleverley and by all accounts his attitude + temperament are first class (Roberto Martinez has commented on it), so Fergie probably knows what kind of words will motivate him.

Martinez still praises Tom Cleverley every chance he gets and Fergie is no different.

I'd prefer to avoid the excessive pressure as well but it's hard not to think Cleverley looks very much to be the real deal and hopefully a long run in the side will cement his place in the first team and gives United a much needed quality youngster in midfield. It looks alot healthier if Carrick can keep up his present form, Jones can continue his JOS on 02/03 like performances and Cleverley can fulfil his promise and get fit again.

Just leaves the old enigma that is Anderson to get back on track and into the side, Just one of them making it would make that area of the team so much more stronger.

So our Scholesy was right all along. Even a blind chicken pecks some corn every now and then I suppose.

He's just tweeted:

Finally some good news. Plan to b outside running in 2 weeks and training the week after that. Cnt wait to b back!

Should be ready to play after the Arsenal game.

Great news, we've got Chelsea and Liverpool at the beginning of February.
