Don't forget he pretty much is. He only just turned 22 which in many places in the world means he's only been considered a legal adult for 12 months. You can't always expect a mature reaction from someone so young regardless of how well they kick a ball around a pitch.

No-one is expecting it, in fact I'd be doing the same right now and I'm over a decade older than him.

The point is it shouldn't be in public. THe club should have a policy against social media.

We have no idea what his injury is like and he's probably fretting that even if he does come back someone will have taken his spot and he'll have little chance of proving he deserves it again. Can't blame him for being emotional. Did you see Sir Alex on MUTV? He looked totally gutted even though we won 5-0 and the Cleverley tackle was the first thing he spoke about.

Youre a legal adult at 18 over here mate.

Manchester United fear Cleverley suffered broken foot

Manchester United fear Cleverley suffered broken foot - The Globe and Mail

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley may have broken his foot after what manager Alex Ferguson said was a bad tackle from Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies in the champions’ 5-0 victory on Saturday.

Cleverley left the field in the opening minutes of the match, with United scoring their first goal while they had 10 men on the pitch while he was being assessed, and Ferguson fears the worst.

“Tom may have a broken bone in his foot,” Ferguson told MUTV. “It’s a bad one and it was a bad tackle.”

The 22-year-old midfielder, who had been enjoying an excellent start to the season after breaking into the United first team and earning a call-up to the England squad, wrote on his Facebook page that he was angry about the tackle.

“Not feeling good. Feeling like I have broken my foot,” he wrote. “Got the scan tomorrow ... so angry right now, want everyone to know I got no apology from Kevin Davies! Season could be over and received no apology.”

Cleverley looks set for a spell on the sidelines just before United start their Champions League campaign against Benfica on Wednesday and face Chelsea in the Premier League next weekend.

United will also assess second-half knocks to defenders Patrice Evra and Jonny Evans before the Champions League Group C opener in Portugal.

“Jonny is doubtful for Wednesday -- he got a knee in the hip in the second half which was pretty painful, while Patrice got a kick on the kneecap,” Ferguson said.

“We’ll have a look at them on Sunday - it’s too early to say (how serious the injuries are).”

Disappointed by his injury. He's proven himself to be a very useful player for us and is one of the players to pull the club into a new generation in some senses. All I can hope is that he can come back to the same level he has been at when he comes back, at least.

Broken foot is a season? Can't see that, but the injury is truly terrible timing for him just like it was Welbeck next week, since it seems Hernandez doesn't need time to find his feet in any situation really.

It really depends where his foot is broken. I had a broken foot once and I couldn't stand on it for about four weeks but after that he healed quickly. I would have been able to play football after about eight weeks.

If he is indeed out for the season I wonder if we and Fergie will regret him not adding to our centre mid in the summer.

Why would he be out for the season? Valencia's injury was much worse last season and he didn't miss it's entirety.

I've heard 3 months is the initial diagnosis (which is still shit for us and him)

mufc press office wish to make it clear that Tom Cleverley does not have a Facebook account. Any quotes from that are, apparently, fake.

Via Nick Coppack.

Odd that it was posted that he had a broken foot before Fergie came out and said the same then?

Is there really talk about him being out for the season? Massively gutted for him if that's true, absolutely horrible timing.

You only need to scroll through the last two pages to get your answer.

If it wasn't mentioned, it was Davies' trailing leg's knee that rolled over Cleverley's left ankle. Davies' right foot went for the ball on Cleverley's right foot, but he goes down holding his left.

I am impressed with what he did. Someone like Nani with an injury like that, would have laid on the pitch and roll and roll and we will be forced to kick the ball out for throw.
There are some players that you just know its trouble if they get up from a challenge with a pain expression.

Not so impressive for me. Getting up after a potential break could add months to an injury. Its the first few minutes that matter after a break. Good attitude from him though, but stupid if he aggravated the injury by trying to run on it.

Out for the season!? A broken foot is a serious injury but surely he faces only 2-3 months out?

If it's one of them metatarsal feckers it could be anything from 6 weeks to 8 months apparently:

RECOVERY TIMES
Michael Owen (2006): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 17 weeks later
Wayne Rooney (2004): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 8 weeks returned 14 weeks later
David Beckham (2002): Second metatarsal - predicted 6 weeks returned 7 weeks later
Gary Neville (2002): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 21 weeks later
Ashley Cole (2005): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 12 weeks later
Scott Parker (2004): Second metatarsal - predicted 8 weeks returned 34 weeks later
Danny Murphy (2002): Second metatarsal - predicted 6 weeks returned 21 weeks later
Steven Gerrard (2004): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 10 weeks later
David Nugent (2006): Fifth metatarsal - returned 6 weeks later

Wild speculation at this point of course, but it goes to show that a broken foot bone could be a fairly nasty injury.

Surely to God it won't be the season? Where's that coming from?

Even if it is broken (and fingers crossed it isn't) I'd expect to see him back by Xmas.

Let's just assume we will have 3 months without Cleverley then :(

It depends on where the break is doesn't it? The metatarsal isn't the only bone in your foot you can break. Until we know where and how the foot is broken its impossible to tell how long he'll be out for. If he has a broken heel, for example, he wont be able to even put weight on the foot for 3 months never mind do any training and if you aint been training you need to rebuild muscle tone in the gym before you start doing football training to protect your tendons and not Hargreaves yourself. Until the results of the scan are known and if the foot is broken and where in the foot its broken its impossible to make any predictions about when he'll be back. Best case scenario it isn't broken and he'll be back next week, worst case scenario he's back for the last 16 of the Champions League.

I am struggling to see how a bone could be broken by that tackle.

I am also struggling to understand why the Evra tackle was not a straight red.

Also Wayne Rooney broke his twice, and both times came back quicker than expected.

The Wes Brown broke his a few seasons ago and was pretty much out the whole season.

Michael Owens was odd, because even though he returned 17 weeks later, he was still having problems with it, and ended up ruling himself out injured for a few weeks.

I was gutted for Welbeck but I'm proper gutted for this lad, is there any official word on this at all?

Alot rests on Anderson's shoulders now, it has to be said. EDIT: Well, depending of course on the length of Cleverley's absence.

Hopefully he was just being a fanny and it's only badly bruised.

That's what I'm hoping for but Sir Alex did say to MUTV afterwards that the medical staff thought he'd broken a bone in his foot and he looked extremely glum about it despite the fact we'd just won 0-5. As I said unfortunately he didn't specify where in the foot they thought the bone was broken. Hopefully they've misdiagnosed it like they misdiagnosed Rio's problem and actually isn't very serious. I guess we'll only find out when the club puts something out on it or the Boss updates the press ahead of the Benfica game.
