Gaming Tom Clancy's - The Division | Division 2 announced

Played 2 hours so far and I'm loving it. Has some disconnect issues but I don't care as this game is so different to anything I've ever played before, Ican't get enough.

Played the first one up until I think it was the first expansion after the original season pass finished (think the third raid or whatever they were called). Though I think towards the end, I spent more time having fun trying to keep glitching through walls after they kept trying to patch it out.

Few questions, does the game still force you into the PvP zone in order to progress, or can you keep up gear wise without the PvP aspect. I always liked the dark zone when you were in a squad and working together, but the moment you came up against other people it got tiresome, not to mention it made solo play un-fun.

Also are they intending to have the paid DLC drop again, which made all your previous grinding pointless and forced you to pay more in order to keep leveling up?

Yeah the DZ sucked for me cos I was usually a single player

All DLC will be free and they've confirmed a new area will drop year 1. The suspicion is that Ubi is going down their Rainbow Six Siege route of monetizing through a year 1,2,3, pass with specializations for agents (grenade launcher, etc). Not much info on that.

Hard to tell if the game forces you into the DZ yet but there's 3 different kinds of DZ.
1) normalized loot which brings everyone closer in power.
2) un-normalized loot where the strong will do better
3) organized 4vs4

Apparently a big problem with the first game was that nothing happened in the world after you hit lvl 30. They have focused on changing that with a 4th enemy faction (PMCs) who invade DC and previous missions. All 4 factions will fight for conflict spots in the world and setup bases. The stronger the base, the better the loot. So i dont think you have to pvp in this one for great gear. The world has essentially become a pve dark zone if you want to group with random people and not pvp you can.

edit: apparently there's also 8 person raids.

Thanks for that. I think I might hold off from buying until after it has come out and see what people say after they finish the story. As you said, that was were it was lacking last time. So if they have managed to fix that, it would be good.

I think that was perhaps the biggest criticism of D1 - so personally am confident that they will address this. They have certainly said that this is their goal.

Have to say that the beta is very good. Sure it's more of the same, but they've definitely done something to get the balance right in terms of the bullet sponge enemies.

Gunplay feels good too. Maybe just in my head but the guns feel more stable and hit harder.

This said, I'm going to wait on Division 2 and go for anthem first, but I'll definitely be getting this at some stage.

Not long now until release. Have people gone for the gold edition to get the year 1 content?

Also does the endgame stuff seem more promising now this time around? I also kind of gave up a bit early on D1. It was a great game though.

Will I be able to carry over the progress from the beta?

Picked up the Washington Edition on pre-order as was only a couple of quid more.

Is the open beta just the same as private or is they any added content?

It has some added stuff in it. Plus you can go up till level 8 as opposed to 7 in the private beta.

Added an extra mission and a couple of side mission, still got the same end game mission where you can pick the specialist weapon

Might give it a go, I couldn’t work out how to get the end game mission. Don’t think it helped with the bugs an disconnects.

Year 1 content (all the actual DLCs are free - the pass gives you early access and some other benefits)

YEAR 1 CONTENT: EPISODES AND SPECIALIZATIONS
In Tom Clancy's The Division 2, we are focused on offering you an exciting endgame experience on Day One. What's more, we are committed to bring you more content regularly, that we believe will improve and renew your experience every time you spawn in Washington D.C. To that end, we will release three Episodes during the course of Year 1, expanding on the story of The Division 2. These Episodes will introduce new narrative driven content, as well as new ways to play the game. This additional content will be free for all players of The Division 2. Alongside the Episodes we will also release three brand new Specializations for you to take on Washington's challenges in a new way, each of them bringing a new unique signature weapon and skills tree to unlock and master.

Check out our Year 1 trailer now to find out more about our post-launch content, as well as a first exclusive glimpse into our upcoming 8-player Raid:

  • The first Episode, D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions will take you to the surrounding areas of Washington as you chase down elite members of the Outcasts and the Black Tusks and fight for the liberation of the city in new locations.
  • The second Episode, Pentagon: The Last Castle will bring you to one of America's most iconic locations to unveil what secrets lie inside this well protected maze.
  • Our third Episode will conclude Year 1 of The Division 2 and pave the way for more thrilling content.
Of course, we will also regularly update the game with Quality of Life improvements, bug fixes, new events, loot, cosmetics and much more.

YEAR 1 PASS
For our most dedicated players, we will also release the Year 1 Pass, allowing you to get more of The Division 2, sooner. Year 1 Pass holders will receive several exclusive content detailed below.

tctd2_y1_pass_touse_345213.jpg

The Year 1 Pass includes the following additional content:

  • 7-Day Early Access to Episode Narrative Content
    • Owners of the Pass will have a 7-day early access to the narrative content only, included in all Year 1 Episodes.
  • Instant unlock of the Year 1 Specializations
    • At launch, The Division 2 will include three Specializations, instantly available to everyone when reaching max level (Level 30).
    • Throughout Year 1, we will release three additional Specializations for your agent. Year 1 Pass holders will unlock these new specializations as soon as they're released.
    • For those who do not have the Year 1 Pass, specializations will be released at the same time, but must be unlocked over time through gameplay.
    • Year 1 Pass holders will also be able to earn exclusive cosmetic items with each Specialization's release.
  • Exclusive Access to Classified Assignments
    • Over the course of Year 1, Pass holders will have exclusive access to 8 Classified Assignments, which will provide more story behind the events leading to your arrival in D.C.
    • Completing each assignment will award you with a unique and exclusive backpack trophy to customize your Agent's look.
  • Additional Bounties and Projects
    • Bounties in The Division 2 are special tasks to eliminate specific enemy targets, while Projects are assignments to complete various tasks around D.C.
    • As a Year 1 Pass holder, you will get access to one additional Bounty per week and one extra Project per day for a Challenging mission.
    • This perk ends on March 1st, 2020.
  • Exclusive Cosmetic Items
    • Year 1 Pass holders will get access to these exclusive rewards: the Agent Ward Outfit and the Scout emote.
You can get the Year 1 Pass with the Gold or Ultimate Editions.

The Year 1 Pass will also become available as a separate purchase when the game launches.

Also good to see that the monetization options only appear to relate to cosmetic items.

POST-LAUNCH MONETIZATION
Our overall monetization philosophy is that purchasable items should always be optional to the player.

At launch there will be two ways to purchase additional content for The Division 2.

  1. First and foremost is the Year 1 Pass, lined out in detail above.
  2. Secondly, we have the in-game Apparel Store, where players are able to directly purchase cosmetic items for purchasable Premium Credits. This option exists for those who wish to know exactly what they are buying and are looking to acquire a specific cosmetic item.
Shortly after launch we will be adding the first purchasable Apparel Caches. These Caches will contain cosmetics only: no weapons, crafting materials or other gear. Acquiring a Cache will never provide any type of advantage.

Our intention is for players to organically earn new pieces of Apparel as they enjoy the many different activities of The Division 2; getting cosmetics from gameplay should be fun, exciting and rewarding. For those who wish to speed up this process, or acquire specific Apparel, there will be choices to directly purchase individual cosmetics in the Apparel Store, or via Event Caches post launch.

Updates since the private beta:

Details:

Welcome to The Division 2 Open Beta! If you did not get the chance to participate in our Private Beta phase, now is your chance! Available from March 1 – 4 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, we want to welcome you as you take your first steps into Washington, D.C. The beta introduces you to some of the unique features The Division 2 has to offer—main missions, side missions, open world activities, and one of the three Dark Zones—to name a few.

tctd2_openbeta_content_960x540_345056.jpg

For everyone who has already participated in the Private Beta, here are the additional content highlights for the Open Beta:

  • Character level cap increase to level 8
  • An additional Story mission—Viewpoint Museum
  • An additional Skill—Chem Launcher with two variants, Riot Foam and Explosive Vapor
  • Two additional Settlement Projects with the second upgrade of the Theater
  • An additional Skirmish PVP map—Capitol Ruins
You are limited to one character during the testing phase, and this character can be deleted. At character creation, you are able to cycle through presets of customization features to randomize your Agent. Remember that character progression is capped at level eight during this period.

Three main missions are available on Normal and Hard modes—Grand Washington Hotel, Jefferson Trade Center, and Viewpoint Museum—to offer a smaller piece of a much larger, compelling narrative we are telling from start to finish.

As you explore D.C., five optional Side Missions will also be available for everyone who prefer to branch out from the main storyline.

You will explore parts of four named zones, each possessing a specific level range to indicate difficulty as you traverse the world:

  • The White House—also serving as your Base of Operations in D.C.
  • Downtown East
  • The Federal Triangle
  • The Manning Institute
In addition, a variety of Control Points and living world activities await in the Open Beta.

DARK ZONE
Dark Zone East—available on the right side of D.C., players utilize long sightlines in over-grown governmental parks. You will acquire the DZ East introduction mission from Senait Ezera—the new Dark Zone NPC in the Base of Operations—after completing Jefferson Trade Center. Completing this intro-mission unlocks full access to the Dark Zone and its features.

ORGANIZED PVP
For players who are looking for dedicated 4v4 PVP, Conflict is available during the beta test. One mode, Skirmish, will be accessible on two maps: Stadium and Capitol Ruins. We encourage everyone to jump in and provide feedback on the PVP experience!

END GAME
We are excited to announce that the Open Beta will also feature a portion of The Division 2's end game! After completing Jefferson Trade Center for the first time, you will gain access to an end-game mission that unlocks three level 30 characters on your account. Upon logging in with one of these characters, the end game mission will begin. Each character is equipped with a different Specialization, so feel free to find your favorite! In contrast with the Private Beta, this end game mission will be available with the start of the Open Beta.

With all that being said, we have a few closing reminders!
  • This beta phase is not under an NDA, so we encourage everyone to capture and share their experiences with the community using Photo Mode!
  • This version of the game is not final and elements are subject to change.
Remember to leave us your feedback on the Official Forums or the community Reddit. You can also tweet us using the hashtag #AskTheDivision2 to help us gather community questions. A big thank you to everyone jumping into the test!

I loved the first game and the latest / current version of the game fixed pretty much all of the issues people had with the game. I probably put more hours into this game than any other I can think of since GTA.

I really liked the private beta and am looking forward to trying the open beta this eve and weekend.

I don't get online as much as I used to, but for me this game is perfect as can easily be played solo as well as within a group. Am definitely hoping to get online with a few of the usual suspects on here :)

How do you log in with the characters? Through the menus?

anyone think the graphics look really cartoony? Running this on PC on high to ultra settings.

Just loaded up open beta, nothing appears to carry over from the closed one.

Never played the first one, but I'm really enjoying the beta. Especially coming from Anthem. I'll get it, most likely I'll just get the standard edition, but it's annoying that some story missions are locked behind that year one pass.

I had a quick try of the first, the beta for 2nd feels like more of the same. Think it'll be okay to play with friends

Are they? I thought all DLC was free but you get it earlier with the pass.

I don't know, I thought so as well - but it seems like there are some added assignements with the pass judging by this part from swooshboy's post above:

  • Exclusive Access to Classified Assignments
    • Over the course of Year 1, Pass holders will have exclusive access to 8 Classified Assignments, which will provide more story behind the events leading to your arrival in D.C.

    • This perk ends on March 1st, 2020.

But I don't really know if this is just some insignificant activities that you wouldn't miss.

I see what you mean. The extra weekly bounties doesn't seem too significant. Story stuff goes against what they said about all dlc being free though even if they are insignificant.

If you equate it to the first game, they are saying that their equivalent DLC to The Underground and Survival would be free - which are the biggest chunks of new gameplay content. I don't think the combat assignments will be all that substantial.

I think it'll be very minor story stuff, mostly via cell phones or echos. A youtuber will definitely make a video of what you're missing. And you can always pay for content you don't want to miss.

Ah! I spent a good while looking, even turned the brightness all the way up on my phone.
