Fun...

Why is every one going rogue now?
Penalty was reduced and reward was increased so it is better to go rogue than not.

They've broken Dark Zone for me now. It's just high end groups of 4 running around rogue trolling low level solo players in DZ01. The amount of XP, loot, keys I've lost is ridiculous. Makes it completely pointless going into DZ as a solo player.

feck the new DZ it's just a bunch of griefers chasing down solo players so they can't extract.

Obviously you need to be in a group to go in. Should be fine at my current level (24), but once we get to 30, then we will be way underpowered compared to those who have been in there already and taken advantage of the exploits / early bonuses.

If you haven't done the smart cover stacking strategy for challenge modes, do it. It makes pretty much everything a piece of piss if everyone's using it. Just did 18 minute runs of Lexington Event Center with a PUG.

Need further explanation for a "friend"... :nervous:

Everyone runs with the smart cover skill, which gives you a DPS buff and damage resistance. If all four pop it on the same cover, the effects stack, giving you a huge DPS boost and makes the shotgun guys not one-shot you, so it makes the bullet sponges go down in no time.

Everyone by the sound of it

Had my own answer within 5 mins of playing anyway. Casually clearing the Library, get to low health and some random guy decides to try and finish me off. Unfortunately for him I've 95k hp and 60% armour mitigation.

This is going to be fun.

Anybody free to help with a level 22 mission? We've got to the end but the adds are just too many for the time limit.

Will only take 10 mins

I'd help but I'm level 30 so the enemies would go up to around 26-27 which you don't want to happen.
Yeah, just had somebody join who was 30 and they all scaled up to 30... 1 shot killed by peoples and golds. We've given up lol.

Its the power plant, right? The one mission I haven't done on "challenging" as the groups I'm with just can't do it.
Argh. Five fecking hours spent on it tonight. Finally get past that stupid timed bit, only got the boss to beat and Mike/Delta comes in and logs everyone out. We log back in and we're back at the start. feck that.

Spent some time in the DZ yesterday - was actually pretty quiet! Didn't see a single other player (other than those I was playing with).

I find it annoying that the only items the DZ vendors sell are locked to level 30 - seems a waste. Am at the stage now where, despite being relatively underpowered, pretty much all the loot I collect provides lower stats than what I already have. I'm level 24, and we will finish off the main missions either tonight or tomorrow. So then will work on ranking up to level 30 in the DZ to be able to get some of the gear.

I do like how the weapons all feel different - although this also means that you find your favourite pretty quickly. I use the M1A as my primary, then the AUG as my 2nd. I pick up/craft/buy better versions of these as I go, but don't have any desire to switch to anything else at the moment. I guess if I did collect a high powered version of a different weapon I would switch, but that hasn't happened yet.

Any tips for getting better loot? I know it is based on your scavenging stat - but even then it doesn't seem to make sense.

I have no clue about that scavenging stat. Some guides I've seen suggests it increases ammo/medkits/grenade drops from NPC's and crates. Some guides say's it effects drop rates, some guides say's it increases high end drops. Lots of people on Reddit are saying that they don't get an increase in high end drops from it.

I put on gear that got scavenging to 100% and spent two days in the DZ without seeing a gold drop. So i didn't think it effected the quality of drop. But then the other night i teamed with a bunch of American's and and some guy was saying he had 100% scavenging, just as i finished telling him that i didn't think it that stat works for gold... he gets two gold drops in a row. Although after that he got nothing. I also farmed bullet king for a few hours and got nothing from him.

Personally i think the vendors are shit. I got to DZ 30 and found vendors had nothing better than what i had currently. Then i got to DZ 50 and i bought a few blueprints but again, nothing really of interest to me.

That's the thing - what they have to sell would improve my stats right now, or be a better weapon, but it is locked to level 30. But once I am level 30, then they will be underpowered. So the time you will want to buy from them, is precisely the time that you are not able to.

is it just me or did anyone else find the menus and stuff really horrible

Takes a bit of getting used to

Also tried matchmaking and could never tell if I was actually playing with others

I personally love the graphic design of the game in general - really like the menus, the UI etc.

I'm guessing you didn't actually play with others then as it's pretty clear when you are

I agree with @swooshboy but that's not to say @Randall Flagg is wrong. I like the game menus and interfaces but throughout the entire game there is a serious flaw when it comes to communicating key messages, for me.

It does such a piss poor job of explaining what things do what, why you need this credit over that credit etc.

Took a bit of time getting into it but think it's really good. It's just mindless fun really and that's what's nice about it. Only thing it's missing in my opinion is a proper pvp mode. I wouldn't have it in the dark zone I think a standard 4 vs 4 3rd person multiplayer mode like Gears or TLOU would work really well. I have to say I was disappointed by the character customisation though. For a game of this type you would expect much better options. Everyone looks the same.I love the matchmaking and most of the time I think it works really well. Destiny should have had these options. I also like that your friends show up on the map even if you're not grouped up.

Yeah that's one thing I was saying to my friends about this game, It doesn't give you much help at all really. Alot of it you have to just stumble upon.

Correct. We were doing it on hard, It was fine until the timer part and we just kept running out on the last wave. Just needed 1 more person for the extra damage but couldn't get anybody to match which was frustrating!.

You still on? Ps4? I'll jump on now, I need to do that mission
Unfortunately we gave up at that point as once the 30 joined it was impossible lol. I might be on tonight or tomorrow if you haven't done it by then, will add/send you an invite when we're doing it again.

Agree with this - there's a lot you have to just figure out - and even then, you never really know if you fully understand it! There are so many numbers and stats that are both independent or interdependent that it can and does feel overwhelming. If I find a new glove that has a higher armour rating, then it should give me more protection - that would be easy to understand. Instead, you have to look at all the other factors (which is fine - as it gives you more flexibility and freedom), but they need to explain how things inter-relate. I swapped out my primary M1A marksman rifle from a purple one to a blue one. Everything would suggest that the purple one should be a higher class of weapon, but it didn't perform as well as my new blue version. It just felt wrong to be replacing purple with blue!

Totally agree on the character creator - so so limited which is a real shame. All the other elements are so customizeable - weapons, skills, talents, perks etc that it is unbelievable that you are so restricted when it comes to the look of your character. I loved the character creator in MGS Online - was so deep that you could create someone exactly how you wanted. The options available in The Division hark back to the earliest online games where you had such a limited choice of avatars. I also think the clothing could be done better - particularly as the character creation elements are so stunted. Even being able to change the color of each item would be enough to give you more freedom, and create more visual differences between people.

The weapon mods are one thing I'm at a loss with, which one do I dismantle, as on some weapons a level 8 are better to be equipped than level 30s. Some of them give no DPS boost but I just don't know which I'd have to get a note pad to know which one it is.

Bought this on release day but as yet haven't played it, am i gonna find it a struggle starting now as i'll be at level 1?

Only if you go into the DZ. Sticking to the story and side missions (co-op would be the better strategy here too) until your level is in the 20's and you'll be fine mate.

The way me @swooshboy @Levo & @Big-Red did it was, have someone just run to where the helicopter drops the extraction line and wait it out, and then they can extract it. You might feck it up once or twice but it's the only way to that mission.

You're on about the apartment. Power plant is a different mission and if you've not done it yet you've got that to look forward to.

We have. The one with the gas valves? Blows up at the end.
