Gaming Tom Clancy's - The Division | Division 2 announced

Makes me want to cancel my ShopTo order and order the gold edition from Amazon now. No value in early delivery anymore.

EDIT - Done.

From what i can gather is that, if you have a digital copy either through Steam/Uplay/PSN/Xbox store. You can start pre-loading the game now, and it'll unlock at 00:01am local time.

How ever if you are lucky to get the game early, you can put in the disk and connect to the servers on March 8th 00:01 Australian Eastern time. As GMT is 10 hours behind, then it's 14:00pm here on March 7th in UK.

Having the servers go live all at the same time, even for reviewers, is suicide. I now expect there to be big problems on launch day.

Everything seems to say 00:01 local time in each country. So it won't be all at the same time and it's not everybody gets it at 00:01 Australian time, but whatever country you live in at 00:01 your time the servers go online.

Thing is, unless retailers are advised that release date is now March 7th, a lot of people won't get their copy on release day, as promised.

If Amazon's delivery of my MGSV copy is anything to go by, I won't get my copy until 3pm on March 8th, basically.

Yeah, but the servers aren't going online at 00:01 Aus time, it says specifically 'when can I start playing the game' and the answer they give is 00:01 your local time which suggests a staggered server start up time based on time zones. Which means that people can play on the 8th their time.

From what I'm reading, it's going to be done by regional server clusters, each at 00:01, March 8th. So, it depends on how the servers are clustered, I guess. If UK are part of the EU cluster, for example, and that goes live at 00:01 in EU, then we'll be able to connect an hour or two before midnight.

Still doesn't matter for folks with hard copies, unless retailers are able to deliver on March 7th, mind...

It says 'When can I start playing the game if I’ve purchased a digital copy?'

So physically copies, are whenever Servers go live and can be connected to. That previous post never said about servers being staggered or launched in clusters. Just says they go live.

As i was playing with US and AUS players during The Beta, i don't think the servers are by region anyway.

Will probably only get to spend a few hours on it next week, I'm off work the week after though, will nail it then.

I'm not interested in physical copies, as I have a digital copy. As it says that I will be able to play my digital copy at 00:01 my local time, that suggests that the servers will be staggered. If I will be able to play my copy at 00:01 AUS time then they would not have written local time. Local time says that people in USA won't be able to play when I can play, because it won't be 00:01 local time for them when it's 00:01 local time for me, so it must be staggered in order of countries hitting 00:01 local time. Like Brocky said there will be clusters of countries rather than individual, but I highly doubt that they're switching the servers on reflecting the 'when can I play' rather than when can I unlock, at 00:01 AUS.

I understand, i was trying to clarify the difference for people who manage to get physical copies early. As they will be able to pop in the disk on March 7th 14:00pm GMT and connect and play.

Digital copies are used 'locked' not by ubisoft, but by PSN/Xbox/Steam etc, then unlock at the pre-defined time. It's not about the servers going online, it's just about when the system says users can play. e.g. I got a digital copy of Arkham Knight pre-ordered, it let me download, just not access the game till the actual launch day.

If you have a VPN, you could VPN to Aus and set your system clock to 00:01am and the game should unlock for you. :)

Servers won't be region specific, but there will be clusters of servers in different regions, for sure. Otherwise, if everyone connected to a server/servers based in EU, for example, the folks in The States would have a pretty crappy experience.

Whatever happens, one thing is for sure. There's something not right about the way this launch is taking place. Firstly, very few retailers are selling the Gold Edition (ShopTo told me directly that they'd not been given it) and now this. I kinda get the feeling that Ubi really didn't expect there to be as much interest in the game as there has been since closed beta.

Man, this thread needs title change, "timezone thread" "00:01" "who can tell the time" "crybabies over a few hours game time"

I had a theory, I thought that given this was getting a more and more lukewarm response that maybe Massive had their budget cut meaning Brooklyn and other areas that were first slated to be in the game never made it. If this was the case and Massive have delivered a game that gets a lot more people than expected buying it then there might be more investment for them down the line.

It is strange though, a LOT of my mates seem to be getting it has that "must play" feel about it for some of them and yet I haven't even heard of any retailers doing a midnight launch for it.

With the launch of The Division just a week away, we thought it was a good time to update you on exactly when servers will go live and when reviews will start to come out.

The Division was always designed to be a seamless online experience, giving players the option to play solo or group with fellow Agents to tackle missions and infiltrate the Dark Zone as a squad. Thanks to the feedback and participation of a record-setting 6.4 million players in the beta, we know many of you took up arms with others and saw first-hand how The Division’s unique gameplay experiences were brought to life by a large and active player population.

Since it’s impossible for us to populate the servers in a way that would adequately replicate playing The Division on launch day, reviewers will start playing the game along with everyone else when it’s released on March 8 – after the servers go live officially and globally at 00:01AM Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT). We anticipate there may be some impressions posted online within the first few days of launch that were based on experiences with The Division Beta, and we look forward to seeing streams, videos, and opinions that provide accounts of final, in-game conditions.

Players who have purchased digital copies can begin preloading today for Xbox One; Thursday, March 3 at 6PM CET / 9AM PT for PC (Steam/Uplay); and March 6 at 00:01AM local time on PlayStation 4 – except Japan where it will be available on March 8 at 00:01AM. In the US, digital copies of The Division for Xbox One, PS4, and PC will be active at 12:01AM EST on March 8.

We can’t wait for you to share these and other Division moments as you explore the streets and begin your journey to save New York City. Thank you for your continued support.

See, now that definitely reads to me that servers are live everywhere at 00:01 AEDT (Oz). There's no mention of the game being or not being locked in Uplay / PSN / XBL until 00:01 local time for each player, depending on location. Has anyone got an official source for that?

Either way, people that have bought hard copies are being shat on, unless they let retailers deliver on the 7th.

That's true. However with good net code and tech. Region is not really a huge issue. This is luckily not a game where split seconds count.

As for the launch.. Don't think it'll be an issue they had 6.4 million unique users over the open beta. Think they are well geared up for launch. Even though servers are all up at once, people will still stagger on according to time zone due to work, delivery times, sleeping.

As for shopto not getting the gold.. I think it's cause Ubisoft/Amazon know how popular it is. There is a lot of deals/politics that go on with retailers. Just like with xbox getting early dlc etc. Amazon could have a deal so only they stock it, game is only place to get the limited edition.. Or Ubisoft are restricting the amount of gold editions so they can reap more money for individual season passes or dlcs..

Or shopto could of pissed off ubi... Think few publishers threatened to stop selling via play.com as they used to send games stupid early... Then EA stopped selling at. game.

Either way I don't think Ubisoft underestimating the popularity of it is the reason.

For sure. The only way to get a physical copy of Gold Edition for PS4 is Amazon or Ebay. That's just crazy.

On the ubi forums one of the devs says digital copies unlock at local times hit 00:01am see Zariaks post.

Not sure how physical edition players are getting shat on? To be fair it's damned if you do damned if they don't. People are going to be pissed if they get a game on the 8th but can't play till like 8pm that day.. And people going to be pissed that digital copies or some people that have hard copies are going to get on earlier.

But, if your game has caused a huge buzz in such a short period of time as it has, why you wouldn't want to have the +£20-£30 Gold Edition on as many shelves as possible makes no sense at all, politics or not.

Just like Black Friday this year Retailers have actively stopped pushing midnight launches for games. Still happens, but staying open extra hours, getting more staff in, security issues etc.. They don't really push it.

I know few places round here had issues with one cod launch due to lack of stock.

Because the people who don't get gold edition now will pay 40 for the standalone season pass... Or 15 a pop for dlc.

Or Amazon did a monetary deal so more people buy from them and Ubisoft get the the cash gaurentee. But like adidas paying United 75 mil a season for shirt sponsor... Who then probably sell 100 mil worth of shirts.

Only if, 3-4 months down the line, the full game lives up to the buzz that's been created. Arguably, it'd make more sense to strike whilst the iron is hot. To go from a game that not many were talking about, or labeling as the next Watchdogs-esque flop, to a record-setting open beta in the space of a couple of weeks is some hike in interest. I still think that Ubi didn't expect it.

Only blind people are labeling this as the next Watchdogs-esque flop.

Before closed beta hit, many were. Very few were talking about it, aside from complaining about how Ubi had duped everyone again, ala Watchdogs, with the E3 demo. This thread had one-and-a-half pages before closed beta. The thread over at OCUK had 15 pages in over a year and the vast majority of posts were people saying how they wouldn't give Ubi the time of day....or words to that effect. Closed beta hit and it's now up to over 100 and people are buzzing like mad in....what....6 weeks?

This will have more legs than Watchdog. I think it has the potential to be this gens AC or Ghost Recon for Ubisoft.

Watchdog just had bad negativity around it and was piss poor if you put it next to a open world game like Saints Row or Sleeping Dogs let alone GTA.

I am seriously hyped for this game and i dont even know why! Should be lots of fun :) I will be playing on PC most likely

I'll be holding off on getting the PC version until I see what the score is with cheating. If it's at a reasonable level, I'll definitely be getting it.

Let's not forget that this is Ubisoft and Ubisoft are greatest at cocking things up and not giving a sh*t about PC in general.

Just got an email from the retailer that my copy has been shipped

That really doesn't seem to be the case with this game, tbf. The game looks and plays so much better on PC. It's also way more customisable from a UI and graphics point of view.

Hoping this is the case. Just talking from experience in regards to how they release pc patches months after they come out for consoles even when the game is half broken
