Toby Alderweireld

I'm worried about his injury record. Is he the same centre back he was 2/3 years ago? Plus 60 million is a lot of money for a 29 year old.

He looked great in the World Cup and vastly superior to all our Centre Backs.

He is not injury prone. He had one bad injury, that's it. He'll be a great signing for us.

I don’t care how much he will cost, he’s the best CB in the PL, period. He’s a massive upgrade on what we have.

We sell one beautiful man in Blind and replace him with an even more beautiful man in Toby. Now that's what I'm talking about.

Really? I’ve always thought it to be the other way round.

It's neither. Both are very good central defenders. Vertonghen was class last season partnering Sanchez, nobody is making him look good. Same goes for Toby, unless he's in a disastrous system he's going to be excellent, if he does sign I expect him to do be a massive success for you, barring injuries. Season before last he was the best in the league, monstrous.

extremely happy if this happens. Maguire would have been a nice addition too, but Alderweireld is a top CB with experience that improves us tremendously ... don't really care about the price tag, it's the CB market that was set by Liverpool and VVD after all. Plus we might still offload Rojo for ~30m.

I'm just glad we don't pay over the odds for a largely unproven Mina or a fading Boateng.

City set that market by paying 50 mill for Stones. At least VVD is actually a very good defender. Or even PSG when they paid 50 for sideshow bob.

I'll only be mildly enthusiastic if we sign him for 60m, and hope it is not all about hype. Some players prove themselves and then fade when they struggle to keep up that level consistently. He seems to me like that type of player, which is worrying. I doesn't really matter that much anyways because i think we are fine at CB, but it does bother me that we're focusing on him when we should be getting a Shaw replacement and a Mata replacement. We currently have no rightwing to provide width, nor goals or assists.

Really hope this happens, he would massively improve us. The wall down the middle of the park: Big Dave, Bailly, Toby and Matic. Good luck going down the middle against United. Finally getting a hard team, need a bit of width just unfortunately.

Alderweireld will provide much needed leadership at the back. Sounds like we are definitely going with 3 at the back.... would like it to be Bailly, Alderweireld and Lindelof.

30 before the end of the season, thus his legs will fall off. Terrible short term signing, do not want.

White text I'm down with the Caf mentality.

Hope this one gets over the line. Massive improvement in individual quality to the back line, as well as a leader to help keep bailly/Lindelof organized.

I really don’t like three at the back unless you play a 3-4-3. 3-5-2 with our wing backs will be awful. Supply from out wide will be non existent.

60 million pounds? After these signings, if we finish 19 points behind fecking city(or god forbid, liverpool) and if jose trumpets his 'not enough signings' mantra again, I hope woodward fires him on the spot.

We're still a LB, LW short so it's still not enough.

Feel like you guys might be getting a tad too excited over a Mirror article. Not to say it isn't true but it's still a trashy tabloid source and not worth getting hyped about.

Get real
We still need a RW and a LB to really compete with city but this would be a good start

Yerry Mina is quoted at 40 million euros after signing for 11 million 8 months ago, a player that has barely played a handful of games and stated he can't take the pressure of barca.

Every fee is super inflated in these windows. IF you didn't expect a top 4 rival, with a history of selling their best players to MUFC, to up the asking price, that's just naive.

We wont play three at the back I feel. Seems as we were short on players with the tour we reverted to it, also being linked with Maguire playing in a back three for England....2 + 2 = 3

Paper doesn't matter. The journo who writes it does. The guy who wrote this is considered extremlex reliablr for city news but can't find anything in him for United news.

This deal would be peak Levy. Haggle for a few extra million till the end of the window and not have time to get a replacement in.

It's a lot of money but he's obviously an upgrade when Smalling is our best cb. Wonder if Jose will try Lindelof with him and make most of his experience.

They're already preparing our 'Net spend champions 2018' trophy. We are fecking ace at this.
