Ticket info thread - 2008/09: Touting will not be tolerated

On the off chance some newbie is a legend.

Any Chelsea spare?

I'll be down there anyway, and will try to return the favour later in the season.

does anyone want tickets to the boro game ? or are they 10 a penny ?

Bolton tickets are now on General Sale.

Worrying times ahead for the Glazers and their 'Waiting List'.

All seems more of a mess than ever - manutd.com implies that some members were unsuccesful in the ballot, but now they are on general sale. Further more, "Members are unable to claim their discount when booking online for this game" for some unknown reason, and meanwhile they are still flogging them on Viagogo.:wenger:

The same thing happened loads of times last season. The tickets available are unsold hospitality tickets (mainly in the quadrants).

can anyone let me know: if a match goes to general sale, does the ticket office hike the price up for the non-members?

My friend tried to purchase tickets for Bolton match, and he was informed by the TO that the seats left is on East Stand Tier 1, and it cost 40 pounds. AFAIK manutd.com lists the ticket price for that section as 35 pounds.

Am a bit confused with this. Is manutd.com price list not updated yet (though I doubt it cos it's already written "ticket prices for 08/09"), or is it the way it is with general sale (I've never purchased one through GS before...)?

much thanks :).

Adult tickets cost an extra £5 for non-members anywhere in the stadium.

You're right though the official site as far as I can see doesn't make it clear what non-members must pay.

aaah, cheers for that :D. The TO didn't explain about the extra 5 pounds that non-members should pay so I was confused about the different pices... :)

Yes, the ballot results are out

I have, once again, yet again, as always again been chubbed

SEVEN THOUSAND tickets and I've been chubbed again... my 100% record still in tact... who exactly is getting all these tickets!!!

Exec ticket holders who tout them on and loyalty pot members.

i feel so honoured to have received a ticket for the Blackburn game, .... out of 7 applications !! of course with all the extras added on like nearly a fiver for postage it all comes to £46, but just grateful, probably one of the best away games for atmosphere before and during the game .

Congratulations Robin.

Although 1/7 for a 7,000 allocation still is'nt great.

Are you going to go for Blackburn?

I booked a train a few weeks back, got it cheap as feck, leaves from Reading though.

No ticket as yet, but as you say...

i may well do Heap my friend...thinking about it.

might do west brom and villa away this season n all

Should do.
Aways piss all over homes, even if you don't get in!

Villa there should be spares about down there aswell, big allocations...
I'd be pretty confident you'll get a ticket if you go down to Blackburn early enough.

just got 3 tickets in the ballot for West Brom, cant believe it, looks like they have tickets left as well

A small number of single seats remain (subject to availability) and supporters can call into Ticketing & Membership Services or call 0161 868 8000 option 1 and speak to an advisor to purchase tickets on a best available basis.

Spoke to the TO yesterday they told me they received 15,000 applications for blackburn and 12,000 for chelsea. They also said there is never likely to be a loyalty pot again. My thinking was that if I applied for every domestic away for a number of seasons I might one day slip into a future loyalty. Thus my dreams have been shattered!

Blimey. As in they're gunna prevent anyone further from entering the loyalty pot, or they're gunna scrap it as a concept for future?

The impression I got was that nobody else was ever going to added to it. Those that are in now are there for life presumably as long as they apply for every game.

I think the best we can hope for is that ST holders desert in their masses so we have a better chance in the standard pot!

Talking of the loyalty pot the only successful application I had last season told me I had been added to the loyalty instead of the standard pot. There must have been glitch in the system and I somehow got added for that application!

I thinks thats always been the case.

If it was scrapped, i guess there would be a few thousand STs being handed back.

I rememeber that - was is Spurs away. I got added but didnt get them.

I think it was an error.

To be fair, if that's true, its absolutely scandelous

Either have it and continue to admit new supporters as they show their loyalty through ticket applications, or scrap it all together

The away tickets situation is a farce. All about who you know. Desperately in need of an overhaul

And I'd think the thousands of supporters who stayed on the ACS to attempt to get aways, but find they're chubbed every single game, might just reconsider next year...

I have mixed views about this.

I get to about 5 away games a year, that's applying with 4 pairs of STs. On my own ST I typically get Blackburn away and a big FA Cup away, plus any FA Cup Semis and any finals. It's bobbins. And it cuts me to the bone when I hear of day-tripping JCLs getting tickets and taking photos in their replica shirts while I have to watch at home.

HOWEVER, the United away crowd remains immense. It's not a place for tourists and in the main the right people seem to be getting the tickets.

I apply for every away game and don't have mixed views, it is sh1te. The season before last I got West Ham and City, last season I got West Ham and Liverpool away. So really I shouldn't complain as I got City and Liverpool, but the lack of away tickets really gets to me.

Hopefully the situation will improve when they phase out the loyalty pot, each member will miss an application sooner or later and it will be gone. I am not in to having a loyalty pot as it ain't fair to those not in it.

However at least with the 'opt-out' scheme for the cup matches the number of applicants will be restricted. Not sure this will help as even with 12,000 applicants for a 7,000 ticket game I still got chubbed.

The problem with United is that away games are better than home games and as a result a lot of the hardcore want to go. As people who are chubbed are pre-pared to pay touts for tickets, there will always be a demand, so even those who do not want to attend, will be getting tickets and selling them on.

I didn't get feck all for Lyon away last season which is fair as it was the first Euro away I had applied for, however I know a lad who works in the ticket office and he sorted me 4. This is part of the problem.

Unfortunately I cannot see a quick fix, so on we plod applying for every game and hoping for the best. :(
