He was a centre forward. Played approximately 4 games as a left winger for Monaco. From memory he used to drift into the wide left position a lot at Monaco. And we have predominently played him on the left wing.

Cheers mate - interesting! He's different. Sole reason I watched Monaco last season was for Lemar then obviously the emergence of Mbappe happened.
For me if we wanted a left footed winger type then it should always have been him, decent workrate so could maybe also do a job as WB. Can also play through the centre and on the right.
He and Martial are different, also Martial was a striker who on occasion played on the left for Monaco much like Mbappe did. I guess it comes down to how you view Martial but I'd rather have him as a striker who drifts wide than the opposite.
Lemar would be a tremendous addition to our squad but I just don't think we have any real intrest.
Yeah since he can play on the right too and we could see him in his more natural position which is behind the striker. I don't think our attacking players have nailed down their positions yet so we could definitely see a re-shuffle if Lemar is brought in.Cheers mate. So not necessarily the end of Martial, but could threaten his gametime, along with that of Mata and Mkhi?
2 years ago we signed a highly gifted young left-winger from Monaco, and now we want the upgrade? Is this guy sufficiently different to Martial that we could use them both, or would this be the end of Martial? Those who know French football hit me up - I know bugger all about it.
Thank you for your clarification, which affects my original point in literally no way, shape or form.He was a centre forward. Played approximately 4 games as a left winger for Monaco.
Could this be a leak from Monaco side to exert pressure on Arsenal to up their offer?
Signing a striker that barely played on the left and playing him on the left vs signing an attacking midfielder that mostly plays on the left.Thank you for your clarification, which affects my original point in literally no way, shape or form.
I would think something Jose is probably looking for with our apparent search for a wide player is delivery. That is a Lemar strength as honestly some of his crosses last year were incredible, there is one on the volley and it's magnificent. He crosses quickly and accurately and with the speed merchants and size we have be it on the right, left at the byline, further back it would do some serious damage. For me he is a far better crosser than Peresic.Cheers mate - interesting!
Well we could firstly argue about semantics - maybe if I'd written 'left-sided player' you would have been happier? Even when played as a striker Martial used to take up predominantly wide left positions for Monaco.Signing a striker that barely played on the left and playing him on the left vs signing an attacking midfielder that mostly plays on the left.
If we manage that, our team looks incredible. Defensive stability, solid midfield and an attack that has enough pace, power, creativity and width.Top player. If we could get him and a LB (which the article states) we'd be looking very strong this season. It's a matter of whether Duncan really knows his jazz or not.
Have you guys seen the poll on the bottom of that article?
"Will United sign Perisic?"
1: Yes - If they want him
2: No - Monaco won't sell him
I wish we could ban the the whole re-sale value stuff.
It would certainly make sense as it would probably help Lukaku. Martial certainly didn't look happy when he came on against West Ham, but I'd be very sorry to see him go - I love watching him cutting in from the left and taking players on...that mix of Lukaku's classic centre forward play and Rashford and Martials pace and running at players looked devastating on Sunday...I would think something Jose is probably looking for with our apparent search for a wide player is delivery. Also intriguing people talking about him cutting inside, Peresic does the same thing only he just isn't as good. If Lemar job is to keep width he'll do it. I'd prefer our width to come from the full backs but hey, my opinion he'd be great for us and I would think fit in well with the current mentality and team feel good factor and comaradatory that looks like it is there.
Genuine question, has Mourinho ever signed such a short player?
Castles is being used here: it's a sly bluff from the club to discourage Arsenal from selling Sanchez to City.
Possibly.
He can play as an out and out winger very well.Do we really need another player who's not a pure winger? Seems to cut inside a lot and run through the middle.
Not sure if he signed them, but Wesley Sneijder and Deco were key players in his teams in the past and they were both short. I can see Mourinho using Lemar in a similar way in a central position and pushing Mkhi wide.Genuine question, has Mourinho ever signed such a short player?

adding pressure on Inter to sell Perisic?
wait, what?
If Inter don't want to sell Perisic then putting pressure on them won't do anything.adding pressure on Inter to sell Perisic?
Because Lemar isn't a winger in the traditional sense. He had Mendy overlapping which opened up space for him centrally. Lemar is a central player that was played out of position and did well last season. He's brilliant centrally and that's where he sees himself playing his best. Why would Jose buy Lemar to play him centrally and push Mkhi (who is better centrally) out wide?
