Thomas Lemar| Staying at Monaco

So everything the manager says is always 100% transperant? Please. I'd be amazed if we didn't want fullbacks.

So far Mourinho has been 100% accurate about our transfers. No journalist or twitter ITK even comes close. When he starts getting things wrong I will stop believing him.

Would much prefer Lemar to Perisic.

Far younger, will have resale value, not peaked yet and decent crosser from what I've seen.

I still hope Martial gets his opportunities this season, personally I'd like him to play upfront when Lukaku is out or rested and also compete with Rashford for starting spot.

There are more than enough games for the two youngsters to hopefully play their part.
Again with the resale value brigade. I genuinely don't know why people bring this up when talking about a youngster.

Lemar or Draxeler, I don't mind. I just want a new wide player.

Wait, he's only 21?

No brainer if at all possible.

60 million Euros, if that's the price, is quite cheap for a young player who scored and assisted in double figures. Bargain, should be all over this.

First time Bald Dunc is reporting something positive about us this summer.

How tall is he, if he is anything less than 6' 2" he wont pass our medical?

Poor old Monaco. Oh well, it's about time we got in on the exodus.

Let's hope this gathers a bit of momentum and becomes a thing.

2 years ago we signed a highly gifted young left-winger from Monaco, and now we want the upgrade? Is this guy sufficiently different to Martial that we could use them both, or would this be the end of Martial? Those who know French football hit me up - I know bugger all about it.

I hope we sign him with the amount of height in our team we dont threaten more on set pieces with Lemar in the side atleast we will be dangerous

It's quite simple - I was comparing him to Perisic in my post who would have none.

I don't really believe we are in for him tbh. Not a natural winger, doesn't like to stay wide and I don't think hed be much better than what we have.

Lemar can play on either wings and his preferred position is as an attacking midfielder.

Firstly, the natural wingers breed is dying. No wonder our best chance of landing a natural winger was Perisic.
He is pretty good out wide and has a decent cross on him. More importantly, he is very good through the centre too. Except Mikhitaryan, no one has shone there for us the last couple of seasons.
Considering his versatality and age, I would take him without a second thought.

But why even use that as a parameter. If you were to word your post and say that Perisic is a short term signing and Lemar isn't, it would have made sense imo. But to make resale value one of your key parameters to compare the two doesn't make sense for a club like ours. We never buy players with that in mind. Not a single one.

Martial was not a left winger at Monaco.

5' 6" apparently.

I thought Mourinho was looking for a winger rather than another player who prefers to drift inside.
Or maybe Castles is talking baloney. But I'd still take him due to his undoubted qualities. Not a winger though in the traditional sense. Would be wasted out wide.

No Martial replacements please. And Lemar is a fab player, although the type of player to excel in a functioning system. He's less an 'individual' than some I've seen mentioned for the wide areas.

I would have thought that it was obvious. Perisic's age makes it apparent it would be a short term signing.

I wish we could ban the the whole re-sale value stuff.

Not the out and out winger we need, see the tweet from Coast about him cutting inside.

We have Martial and Rashford to do that. We need some variation.

We dont need another number 10, and we don't need another winger who naturally drifts infield. We have enough of both.

It's quite clear what profile a winger our manager wants and I struggle believe Lemar fits that type.

Lemar helped a lot Pogba against England. He has a great vision and a great engine.

But he isn't a true winger, more like a Pires than a Giggs.

He's different. Sole reason I watched Monaco last season was for Lemar then obviously the emergence of Mbappe happened.
For me if we wanted a left footed winger type then it should always have been him, decent workrate so could maybe also do a job as WB. Can also play through the centre and on the right.

He and Martial are different, also Martial was a striker who on occasion played on the left for Monaco much like Mbappe did. I guess it comes down to how you view Martial but I'd rather have him as a striker who drifts wide than the opposite.
Lemar would be a tremendous addition to our squad but I just don't think we have any real intrest.
