Thomas Lemar| Staying at Monaco

" The Pogba deal will look like a bargain, wait and see ". Surely even rival fans must see now that Mourinho was onto something here? Bargain is maybe a strong word but surely this deal does not look half as crazy as it did last year.

But in bitter sounes's logic he was over priced and overrated, and does not look like a 80 million pound player, one year later all these signings allot of them don't look it. That's why Jose is working at united, and souness is in the skysports studio's has a pundit

So Lemar would be more expensive than Pogba.

Glad we're staying out of this madness to be honest.

Man oh man, this is the best case scenario for us.
Lemar stays at Monaco, Sanchez is going to pout all season at Arsenal and City dont get their man either.
Yeah. The only problem is that he won't go to Liverpool either, Coutinho stays at Anfield and Barca could move for Griezmann next time.

Arsène Wenger: 2016: "£89m for Paul Pogba is completely crazy."

Arsène Wenger: 2017: Bids £92m for Thomas Lemar.

You sure he didn't mean £9.2 million?

So, Arsenal bid 92m and Monaco accept the bid. But then they abandon it saying not enough time to complete it. Looks like Lemar rejected Arsenal and to cover up this embarrassment, they are making up shit.

Maybe my maths isn't great (maybe it's Essien's calculator) but if this went through, that would mean Monaco have brought in 7 players for fees (ignoring free transfers in) and will still make £150m profit this window. And that's not including the touted Mbappe deal to PSG.

Somewhere in a very luxurious restaurant, all 15 Monaco supporters/shareholders are clinking glasses and laughing their asses off.

They apparently didn't made a 92m bid.

You can imagine how awkward it was for the Monaco representative approaching Lemar offering up Arsenal. Probably apologised afterwards for even asking.

What?
So why were they asing City for more time?

I don't really understand or know the details but I guess that they didn't actually bid(according to Nice-Matin) but they did try to convince Lemar who reportedly rejected them.

If reports are to be believed then this lad just fecked over both Arsenal and City at the same time. Legend Lemar.

Wenger never intended to sign more than Lacazette and Kolasinac. They do this every window. Get a few 'value' signings early on in the window to get people to renew their season tickets and then brief the media on how they tried to sign loads of players but they were 'unavailable'.

Id love to see Liverpool sign him now just to read Bluemoons reaction.
Its a very short term wish fulfilment

Got to be honest, i know nothing about this guy. Can't say i even remember him standing out when i watched Monaco play in the Champions League. Now, i don't watch much football outside the Premier League, but damn - £92m, huh?

Is he "that" special, then?
I mean he is a very good player but 90mil is a bit excessive. Was watching him last year and really liked what I saw and thought he'd be a good option for us but I was thinking 35-40 mil. This transfer window tho the fees just went mental.
Personally even by the fees this window it's vastly over paying. 60 mil probably.

Hard to tell what is more comedy.
Man City waiting until the last deal, knowing Arsenal may not be too pleased to lose their best player and absolutely slaughter their season...in August.

Or Arsenal bidding such a ridiculous sum, but seemingly forgetting that Lemar is on a key qualifier tonight, so wouldn't possibly have been able to get signed, even if a medical was in France!

More than that - I'm always amazed there's this acceptance that a player is willing to just drop everything within 24 hours and decide to move to a different country and club.

I'm sure some players are willing to just 'go with it' (with encouragement from an agent) but I'm sure there's also plenty of them would need a good week or two to decide something like that.

I'm not 100% sure but I think if a deal is agreed and FIFA knows about it the medical could take place within 48 hours of the window shutting. There's a grace period for late transfers.

Not sure about that. Pretty sure all paperwork has to be in by that 11pm, and you don't do paperwork without the medical.

It's astounding that professional clubs overseeing massive fees leave stuff late when they've just had months to do it.

Lemar to now join Mbappe in the Wenger 'almost XI' (it's becoming an almost squad these days).

Glad he rejected them - waste of a talent that would have been. He's too good for them.

Not sure why any big name would sign for Arsenal. The team is a mess and the managers days are numbered
