Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

WWE is rapidly painting themselves into a corner with Reigns. The only reasonable outcome I see will be the give Ambrose the title and turn Reigns heel.

Nah, they could get Brock v HHH part whatever, and have Brock (kayfabe) break his arm again, win the title, and get rid of HHH and The Authority for a few months and set up a prolonged feud between himself and Reigns with the title going back and forth until Reigns wins it outright at next years Wrestlemania. They could include Ambrose in it as well or drag so many other stars in and out over the year too, so it could definitely work. Doubtful that will happen though because it would make the Wyatts actions towards Brock seem completely pointless, although things like that happen on a weekly basis, so you never know.

Scenario that they put together on the PWTorch podcast last night was Amrose winning the triple threat, Reigns going into a match with Taker, loses and goes nuts on Ambrose after Ambrose beats Trips. Heel reigns, instant storyline that you can drag through to Summerslam and hopefully a returning Rollins.

Brock is not feud material now with his sporadic appearances. You can give him a 1 or 2 week build up before a PPV and that's it. The feud will be with Reigns vs a regular roster wrestler. Sheamus sucked, so only Ambrose is left. Maybe Wyatt. They are quietly building up the Wyatt family, with destruction of Kane and Big Show....should lead to something. Hopefully.

Looks obvious. I can't see any other way Reigns is not getting boo'd. Maybe they beat Lesnar and Reigns/Ambrose have a stare down with Reigns refusing to shake hands would be a milder route enabling both to still be faces.

They really should throw a curveball and Have ambrose win. Him beating HHH at WM would be great and would be a great moment.

And yes Mark, I meant lesnar lol

I think that could happen. You can't have 100k booing him again. They changed the main event before from Batista to Bryan, Reigns to Rollins before, after the crowd reaction they could do it again. Must be a reason Ambrose was thrown in to this match, I think they're checking the reaction he gets and if Reigns reaction get better.

PWinsider report as of Monday plans are for Lesner/Bray and Taker/Strowman. Apparently they say Vince love the idea of Strowman against taker. I hope it's not true, how reliable are PWinsider? Putting a 50+ injury prone wrestler against him would end very badly.

I'd find a unlikely pairing of Taker & Lesnar taking on the Wyatt's in a tag match as a better option. I think a Strowman/Taker one-on-one will be horrific.

Anybody vs Strowman one on one will be horrific. Hes been standing for most of his career so far.

1 on 1 with Khali, first to fall over looses.

:D
But on the flipside, Brock vs Harper could be something fun.

Not to mention he has the most pathetic finishing move ever invented. It even makes Reigns' rugby tackle look good.

TBH, I dont mind it. Its effective and over time will be something that will see fans conditioned into believing.

I dunno, I think it looks pretty awful, mainly because he looks so static when doing it. I know that's kind of the point, but it just doesn't look great, imho, there just seems to be something missing, no WOW factor I think. I know it's tough with large and pretty immobile wrestlers, but I would love to see Strowman used like Sid Vicious (Justice) where he comes in the ring, powerbombs the opponent, 1,2,3 and it's done. I miss the invincibility that WCW gave Sid for a few years and the powerbomb worked so well with such a big bloke. Or maybe they could get him to do a version of the rope hung DDT, but using the top rope rather than the middle one.

He has two though doesn't he? He uses that cutter that actually looks quite good. That lifting triangle choke is quite good at putting him over as a monster though, looked great when he first had Reigns just dangling and going limp.

Having two members of the Wyatt family lose, to two part timers on the same PPV, would be horrific. On the flip side, if they both win, then it be a great push and the Wyatt family would look a dominant force. Be interesting to see how they build the Taker v Strowman, if it goes ahead, as the Wyatt are busy with Lesnar.

Re-watched the Bryan wrestlemania promo's from WrestleMania 30 (the one with Monster - Imagine Dragons in the background).

Can't see them getting anyone as over as he was during that feud again any time soon. What a WrestleMania! What a maneuver!

I agree. There is no one on the current roster even remotely over as Bryan. A lot of the reason he was so over was because the company shafted him for that long and didn't want him at the top, so that pushed fans more to him. The ONLY person that could potentially get over like that again is AJ Styles if the company start blatantly misusing him (which I fully expect), But even then it wont be to the degree of Bryan.

Good episode of NXT, some evolving plotlines and Finn vs Crews was an absolute belter. I like those face vs face matches, even with Finn working a bit heel-ish. Just matches in the spirit of competition and testing each other, really enforces the sports aspect of Wrestling. Same with Neville vs Kalisto last week on Smackdown, just two performers wanting to test each other.

Oh and Corey Graves & Tom Phillips make a good duo. Corey is so good as a heel color commentator.

Probably the greatest Underdog story in WWE. The whole thing worked out in the end (just a shame about his injury). But that WM moment was fantastic (its a shame they are trying to repeat it with somebody who is not an underdog).

I don't think AJ Styles will ever be near the main event.

Did it actually air this week? I can't find anything.

Edit: Yes it did, found one but it's not great quality.

After hearing much hype I finally tried Lucha Underground...hmm it's not for me but I appreciate them trying something different.

The matches I saw were decent but the whole thing felt like a straight to dvd budget movie I didn't enjoy it.

Do you mind me asking which that was?

I'll be honest, the early season 1 stuff wasn't for me, but it really picked up a lot after their 2nd lot of tapings when they really settled on what they were going to go forward with, what their boundaries were etc...

I fully accept it isn't for everyone, but I personally find it to be up there with the best episodic tv shows about at the moment of any kind. So easy to just sit back and watch for an hour and just accept that yes, this is a dragon fighting the man of a thousand deaths. You fecking go Drago. Also Pentagon Jr is the man.

Yeah early season 1 I just watched the first 3 episodes, the wrestlers seem decent but I hated the commentary and promo style.

I could fully see someone getting a Daniel Bryan at Mania 30 style pop in Dallas this year, and only get bigger as time goes on.

The commentary does tone down or you just become used to it, I'm not sure which, but something certainly happens. The promo's are quite a large part of it, yeah. The characters becoming more set certainly helped them imo.

Every episode I watch it amazes me more and more that AAA don't have a clue how to book Pentagon Jr

If someone has a good (not recorded from a screen in the living room) version of Lucha Underground this week I would love to report that link to the relevant authorities.
Got a stream video of it if you want?

Try and stick with it, it gets crazy. But fair enough if you ain't liking it. You won't ever see All Night Long or Grave Consequences though :(

Seriously? I know you like him, but a Daniel Bryan at XXX pop, in 2 months time?

Continuing my watch through all of the Raw's on the Network, now up to April in 1998. This promo was so damn good (poor quality but only one I could find to post).

The atmosphere the week prior to that for Austin was unbelievable the night after he'd won the title at Wrestlemania. Raw literally opened up from the credits and the crowd were already blowing the roof off with Austin chants.

I'm looking at it a few ways, in one he's Shinsuke Nakamura, to a NXT before Wrestlemania crowd who's going to get an enormous pop regardless. On the second point the crowd will likely be highly European and highly intoxicated, and aware of Shinsuke Nakamura given all the coverage he's had the last 2 years or so, again, people who don't know anything about him are hugely excited as a result. On the next point, this is possibly the most charismatic man on earth, and that is not an exaggeration in the slightest. He could work a crowd of 10,000 who'd never seen him before and get a massive pop. He's also probably the best big match performer around, facing one of the best general performers around. It's a dream match for someone like me at least.

Oh yeah, I get he's great, I'm sure the match will be an instant classic, just that Bryan pop at Mania is some crazy measuring stick.

The crowd will be massively into anything they do whether they know him or not, purely because of opponent and setting. Also they're more likely to be pissed than a Wrestlemania crowd. Maybe I'm going ott but these factors I think will catch folk out.

NXT crowd (and yeah mania and post mania) reaction will be good. though I do fear if / when he leaves NXT and goes to the main roster given the way japanese characters have been used / portrayed on WWE TV.
