Right... and what impact did that have to the way any of them were a) percieved or b) booked?
Bray Wyatt went on to face the Undertaker at Wrestlemania with many predicting (foolishly) that he could win, he should have, but he never was.
CM Punk spat his dummy out the next day and was never seen again.
Dolph Ziggler won the world title 2/3 months later.
The Miz's 2012 was the exception in the cases you mention.
Legitimising AJ Styles to a casual fan will take being booked well by the WWE from this point forward. He made a big debut, it generated a great reaction from the crowd (which any casual fan could see/hear) and it got people talking (with Smarks obviously, but the casual fan will surely want to know more about AJ Styles after yesterdays match)... which is exactly what it needed to do. Now they have to build on it.
The only two ways in which he would have done that any greater then he did last night would have been to a) win the thing or b) eliminated tons of people (though even that often gets lost after a while) ... short of that, the simple fact that he didn't last as long as Chris Jericho is completely inconsequential.
You're assuming that casual fans watch Raw. The numbers suggest nobody watches Raw anymore, and who can blame them.
I hope they completely bury AJ Styles just to see @phelans shorts have a meltdown, it'll be glorious. Have him lose on the pre-show of Wrestlemania to Charlotte.
So do I tbh, I won't have anything to search out on Tuesday's then and I can just relive all of his excellent stuff over and over.
