Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

They already unified the US and IC Titles in 2001? And they just abandoned the US title for a couple of years?

Just watched it. There will be hell to pay.

He was left way too long without attention. They should have realised right away he was in trouble

You see (in the WWE anyway) the ref go to he wrestler who just took a big bump and get some sort of signal that they're ok.

Maybe because the 619 is such a silly move, they didn't think it could possibly do any damage and he was just selling it. I don't remember every seeing a ref check on someone who took a worm or people's elbow for example.

The performers knew something was up. But the official who checked on him then just shook him quite hard to see if he was ok.

I reckon if he was put in the recovery position right away he would have had a chance

The injury itself was a proper freak incident with the rope rebounding into his neck. As for the doctors, whatever you say about WWE, that could never happen on their watch. You don't realise how anomalously good their medical team is at reacting to incidents. Lucha (proper Lucha) is organised chaos at the best of times, never mind when something actually chaotic goes down.

Lucha Libre seems to be cursed this week with everything that happened with AAA and now this.

I've just watched a video of the incident and it's shocking. You're totally right, there will be hell to pay.

I don't know if it was the way the video I saw was cut (possibly out of order), but what I saw was the guy lying on the rope, his partner checking him, and then his partner doing a flip dive over the top rope.

Just utter madness.

Watched video and read about the match.

The 619 doesn't connect at all, its not that. Apparently when he takes the drop kick to set him up for the 619, he hits the ropes too hard with his trachea.

And the medical staff and ref fecked up, as soon as he didn't take the bump for the 619, they should have stepped in. The guys tag team partner took a 619 a few minutes later just above the guys dying body. its horrendous

It was the ropes that bounced back i think, but the reaction of the officials is awful, Rey even breaks character at one point and checks on him, it's madness. what's worse is that while he's still slumped over the ropes the other guy performs another 619 right next to him!

Apparently that's Konnan who is shaking him. I didn't recognise him

it's at least 2 mins without any proper attention. It's unforgivable

The doctors were all busy in the back as there had been other pretty serious injuries on the card that they couldn't take any risks with.

Officially announced as a spinal trauma of cause of death (a cervical stroke my dodgy Spanish tells me). Quite what caused it I don't know, but he seemed to be in a bad way before getting huricanrana'd out of the ring (whereby he also hit his upper back/neck on the apron)

Fecking shame that, never want to see that. Maybe the lot in the "Lets take the piss out of the WWE thread" realise now what the entertainers or performers put themselves through every night.

That's going to look so bad when the inquest starts though, such a tragic shame.

For anyone who doesn't want to see the video (I don't blame you), there's no reason for anyone to think Rey was in any way to blame for this despite the early reports.

Not saying anyone actually thinks that at this point but the amount of click baiting insinuating that Rey was to blame was sickening.

Aside from that, there's been a few developments, from the downright awful that Perro Aguayo sr is now so ill that he's not been told, to the fact that local police are investigating it as manslaughter.

I had the privilege to share a ring for the first time with Hijo Del Perro Aguayo in his debut as a professional wrestler & an Honor to be in the Ring with this great Legend for the last time! You will be missed Perro:: RIP Perro Aguayo Jr.

:( :( :(

Reading a bit more into it, he took a bump a few seconds before outside the ring, from a Mysterio leg scissors, and he seems to jerk his neck and allegedly damage his spine when it happens. There is a theory that adrenaline got him back into the ring ready to take the drop kick, but he wasn't able to react and take a safe bump onto the rope which is where he got knocked out. I watched a video of the entire match. Its absolutely tragic

Yeah I think the damage was done when he hits his neck on the apron going outside, that being said he didn't look good going into the huricanrana so who knows.

Just saw the vid but it cut off when the guy launched the kick. We all know horrific accidents do happen.
The Mexican circuit sounds bloody dangerous if they only had one stretcher and someone else was already on it with a spinal injury.

Rey must be feeling like dog shit right now. Of course these things can happen in wrestling but it seems that he killed that guy. I wish I didnt watch the video tbh its just sad RIP.

I think from watching the video, he is out as soon as he hits the rope. You see Manik looking at him, I'd assume he saw that something was wrong prior to the 619.

On a more positive note, it's Wrestlemania week. As much as I've been mildly bothered so far due to the build, I can't help that get buzzed for it.

The official cause of death has been released, he suffered a stroke caused by cervical spinal damage. As Phelen says above anybody that doesn't want to see the video it is clearly not reys fault and the 619 made literally no contact, Rey must be heartbroken.

These fecking click bait websites are disgusting, still reporting that Rey killed him as it is the most shocking headline to encourage clicks, scum!

I've heard people talking about ECIII for ages and didn't realise it was Derrick Bateman. Is he actually any good over there?

He's fantastic, a properly great heel. He's about the only positive to the roster (well, and Spud).

In other news, there was the much anticipated rematch of one of wrestlings most heated blood feuds the other night, and it was every bit as good as the first:
