Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

The Rock did everything Cena usually does when he cuts a promo: uttered his catchphrases, referenced the city he was in, insulted his opponent, and went for the cheap jokes. But the difference between him and Cena (and every other superstar) is his charisma. It's unmatched and it's not something that can be taught. You either have that sort of energy and high level of execution or you don't. The content wasn't great yet his performance elevated an atrocious RAW episode (and it's been like this for most of the year) and that's what makes it special. I've never been a fan of his, but his ability to entertain - see the reaction of the people in the arena - is ridiculously good. It, however, doesn't excuse another poorly structured RAW.

The greatest superstar they've ever had. Argue all you like about his ability as a wrestler, but as an entertainer, no one comes close. The WWE are incredibly lucky he still actually gives a shit about them, he's moved on to much bigger and better things, might be a toned down Rock in this era, but still puts every single current superstar to shame.

The Rock has the luxury of being able to do stuff that other regulars can't. Take last night for instance in him saying shit to Lana such as having a smirnoff bottle shoved up her vagina (didn't say vagina, can't remember what word he actually used). It's obviously a toned down Rock in places but he still get's a pass on so much because of who he is while people like Ambrose are often held back from being able to do that on a weekly basis. That's why I think Cena get's undeserved criticism directed at him, if you'd of let a guy like him loose in an era where he was free to be much more edgy I think a hell of a lot of people would give him more credit.

I'm always torn on The Rock. Growing up I was a massive fan. Last night was an absolute shock and that's all great but once the rush died down my first thought was "Please don't fecking do Lesnar/Rock".

It was a one off return by all accounts.
That phrase, about making reading the phone book entertaining. The Rock just does it. He spent about 5 minutes talking about travelling to the arena and it was gold.

Also, Damien Mizdow is completely incredible. He has commited to every single role he has been given. Sandow in general is just hilarious. "Thank you for your irrelevant opinion" was one of my favourite ever lines

I'm enjoying Sandow turning chicken shit into chicken salad every week much more than seeing The Rock come back and run though his old routine yet again.

I believe he referred to it as her 'Putin'.

Guys who would have got a larger pop at that moment:
- Steve Austin
- Kurt Angle
- CM Punk

Edit: Possibly Taker too

None of them would have. Austin possibly, but look who got the biggest pop at the recent Wrestlemania.

As much as Angle returning would be incredible, he should steer clear of the shithouse of a state the WWE is currently in.

They're more concerned about their image these days.

Pretty close out of Austin, Rock and Daniel Bryan tbh. Austin was known to be at Mania though, whereas Rock was a surprise, so you have to take that into consideration.

Angle's tried really hard to get a WWE gig again with all the interviews he has done this year but it looks like they don't want him back because of his health. His contract with TNA expired last month and apparently he has agreed a new deal with someone but not said who his contract is with.

Apparently he pissed HHH off because he went to HHH who said they had nothing they could use him for at the moment, then he went to Vince and HHH got pissed thinking he went over his head. Like when you ask your mum something and she says no so you go ask your dad.

Yeah. He has done a recent interview saying that HHH has a lot more power than people think and that Vince and HHH have to answer to a lot of others within the company due to being a public company. He reckons he has sorted out the issues he had with Mcmahon in the past and that he has agreed a deal with someone for one more year(then he is going to retire) but can't say who it is yet as the contract is not finalised. His interview does not sound like he is going back to WWE.

I think Taker would. Him going out on a losing note still does not sit right with me (and hopefully many), so when we hear the gong again, the surprise would just be out of the world. Hope he comes back for one more match and beats Lesnar off.

I think Taker's finished. He looks like he's given everything he's got.

Care to explain why Taker return would be unwelcome?
The man can barely move, his last match was actually terrible saved only by the shock ending. He's a pro, going out and passing the torch is how it is done.

He should only return in a non-wrestling capacity really. The state on him now he couldn't put on anything close to a decent match and he certainly shouldn't face anyone credible as a wrestler. He himself said in the past he'd quit when he didn't feel able to wrestle to a top standard any longer, and that time has gone.

The only problem is that he deserves a great send off due to his legendary status. I don't know how they'd book it but maybe a Hall of Fame induction and segment at Mania to send him off. Could have an interference in his segment by a few daft heels and him and Kane feck them up as one last hurrah.

Unless he fights Sting, which would be an incredible moment.

The moment alone would be enough to make up for what wouldn't be a very good match. It's not all about the moves.

It still would be. The crowd would eat it up and it'd be amazing just for the staredown and that moment. Like I said, not all about the moves, it's also about the story.

What do people think about the Rock-HHH rumours? Personally not as interested as everyone else seems to be. Waste of both of them IMO.

In terms of a mania pop and buys it'd be worth it financially I reckon. They'd both have incredible leeway to go a bit old fashioned in the same way Taker has had with his Mania matches (albeit against HHH and HBK). It'd boil down to whether Rock is willing and able to get down and dirty, but I can't see him working cardio enough or his employers (movie wise) being willing to let him go for broke for a smashing match.

Basically I've had a feq beers and right now it's not feasible.

If this was a negotiation, I'd start off by requesting a billion pounds to watch that match.

Some might not want to see it at this point but I'd put money on it that on the night every single person in that crowd would eat it up and go crazy. It's one of the dream matches that a lot of people have wanted for a hell of a long time. Might not be a technically great match but they're two of the best over the years that know how to tell a story on the night. Sting wrestling anybody not named Undertaker or Bray Wyatt would be madness, if he actually even wrestles for the company.

Surely if they're both available to wrestle, you wouldn't want them in the same match.

Just to add my 2 cent, I think that should be the last we see of Taker, he's beat up bad has given his all, he should go into the hall of fame as one of the greatest ever and go out with his classic pose at mania to end it.

As for Triple H and The Rock, why the feck not. H has had some good matches over the last few years with Taker, Bryan and Lesnar, plus Foley is maybe the only person he has better chemistry with. I'm willing to bet It'd be decent.

If The Rock had been away from the product as long as Austin and Angle, he would get the same pop as Austin and bigger than Angle. Doubt Punk's pop would be bigger than The Rock got at Raw though, he's not as revered these days considering the way he left. Hell, a Jeff Hardy return would get a bigger pop than Punk.

He's finished. If he wants to make a special appearance or two fine. He absolutely should never wrestle again, never mind put him over Brock, which is the most stupid idea in wrestling, which takes some doing. believe me, I've seen a Bad Luck Fale title reign this year, and Taker beating Brock is even worse than that.

Anyway, Trips Wrestlemania match is against Batista, so talk of him vs Rock is moot.

Punk's return will kill the crowd, anywhere. He's won, WWE needs to accept that fact, they are dying fast without him....even if that has next to nothing to do with him(btw they aren't really dying obviously, just taking a few hits this year). But they could very much do with him right now.

Austin/Rock/HHH/Taker/Brock taking up 5 of your main event WM slots.....what is this? 2002. Oh and possibly Jericho, Sting and Tista as well, wow.

Just like Cena was perfect for Rock, Punk is perfect for Austin, the only other guy who would make his potential return worthwhile is Ambrose, they wouldn't be able to make Bryan work, what's the point in revisiting is killing another old guy by feeding them to Brock, and Cena/Austin, good lord no.

Well the reply as to a question on who'd make a bigger pop and I think Taker's gong would he awesome. But as you say, spec appearance would seem to be the best bet. Sad to see him vanish without a proper send off!

Rock/HHH? Yes please.

Feck it, do another Iron Man match.

Their Iron Man match is my favourite. As for them feuding now, at least it would keep them both out of the title picture, win win.
