Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

I'm 27 and for a while I thought everything about that era was gold, then you go back and watch it again and it dawns that while some of the high spots in matches made them memorable and some steller mic work from a few of the top guys, a lot of it was crap. It felt like we as relatively young uns got involved in it because it felt like we were getting away with something by watching it. Kind of like laughing your tits off to "Uncle fecker" from the South Park film when you see first (and 499th) time.
This.

I look back at some of the stuff on the network now and cringe. Look at it this way, when you think of 'dream matches' certain matches come to mind. Bryan vs angle, punk vs Austin etc. nobody caresich about the attitude 'spots' it's the wrestling they care about.

so why do you still watch it? The attitude era will always have a place in my heart, but it essentially filled with mediocre humour and outlandish storylines.

Mae young had a sexual relationship with mark Henry and gave birth to a hand for god sake!

Storylines will always be secondary to actual wrestling in my eyes.

I've no idea to be honest. I keep hoping someone will get hit by a chair or something or the storylines might get better and have interesting characters.

Hmmm.

I think the way that Ambrose/Rollins has developed has been excellent. Ambrose is a brilliant character too.

In the same way they are redevelopment of Bray Wyatts character is also very exciting. The calibre of their card is very, very good. Miz is doing a decent job which is obviously helped by Sandow being brilliant. Cesaro, swagger and Ziggler have really stepped up.

Gold and stardust have been good as have the usos.

In regards to chair shots, these are banned to the head for health reasons, which is a good thing. Wrestlers die younger as a general rule, stopping crazy head shots will help prevent this, plus when you do see a kick to the head that looks sweet, it looks all the more sweeter these days.

Come to that haven't seen the Wyatt's for quite some time apart from those not so creepy promos and even in those I don't recall seeing Rowan. What's happening with them?

The thing I'm looking for is the breakup of the Authority. Kane and Orton have been having words with Rollins and it would be awesome for Reigns/Ambrose to have their own 'Plan B' on HHH.

Interested to see where they go with the current stuff. 'It's coming' is the message in the video packages, could see something happening at HIAC. They pretty much got lost in the shuffle along with the likes of Cesaro. Wyatt was red hot at one point and going over Bryan clean at the Rumble should of been his journey towards then eventually challenging Bryan for the title down the road. Such a brilliant character, was tearing it up for a good amount of time and then they just got it all wrong with the group out of nowhere. Matter of waiting and seeing where they go now.

Just watching Raw now. I like Rusev, good wrestler. Couldn't give 2 shits if he kicked the entire US Army in the face though. Pandering to America to try sell to a worldwide audience is stupid.

Agreed. Henry, Big Show, Big E and still yet to submit. The Russia thingy will only get him so far. I'm already bored of it, and hope he and Lana would move more mainstream.

It's all being set up for Angle, trust me. The crowd will be utterly sick of Rusev. Lana will be doing a promo where she is saying how Rusev has crushed all WWE's American heroes (Swagger, Henry, Big Show) and then this'll hit....

and everyone will lose their mind. It'll be glorious.

They may have stumbled their way about, bure Creative has gotten to an interesting crossroads here.

1) Breakup of Authority - How will it go? With Barista gone, and Orton/Kane taking a backseat to Rollins, what with HHH do?
2) Lesnar - Will they just let him have the title till WM? No matches till then? Who is picked as next face of company? With Bryan and probably Reigns out, do they have the guts to put Ambrose and Rollins out there?
3) Wyatt Family - Where are they going to fit back in? The promos are getting a bit stale now. Break Bray out seems to be the best option. Luke and Erik are good to roll with Sheamus, Cesaro etc.

And then he will demolish angle. Bwahahah.

That would be awesome.

I'm suprised that they've not dragged poor old Jim Duggan out to be honest.

I highly doubt Rusev will sign for TNA tbh.

It'll be an absolute disgrace if they put Cena/Orton on last. Ambrose/Rollins has the makings of a classic, mark my words it'll be a sensational match and easily steal the show, fecking pumped to finally see a payoff to this awesome feud. Ambrose has been on fire and to be honest Rollins hasn't been far behind. Hell In A Cell has become a bit overused and thrown together at times but this is one of the rare times in recent times that it really makes sense and has an incredible story behind it. It has to go on last.

Why can't I listen to that music without "you suck" being chanted in my mind?

Losing a match to Ambrose and being rewarded a match with Orton, a chance to become number one contender again and the possible main event.

Its a "lesser" PPV so its a great chance to have two new people headline the show. Going back to Orton/Cena would be a huge mistake and the big mistake theyve been making year after year when they get a chance to showcase new talent.

I only watch the matches of stars that come back. Not bothered with this generation or Cena. The rock and hunter segment was great. One more match!

Just watched that. Brilliant.

"How 'bout you pay the bill ya cheap....bastard."

Agree on the one more match too.

Cesaro comments on Orton and Cena:
"Exactly. It is a new era of guys, it's a new generation, and it's a lot of fun to watch that because there are fresh match-ups. I mean I'm sick of seeing John Cena against Randy Orton for the 500th time. It's great that we have some new, young guys that can come out and provide absolutely great match-ups and for the fans there are fresh, exciting matches and things to watch."

R.I.P. Cesaro:
"Yes, to me with the WWE there are guys who have big matches, the big music, they are top stars, they come to the ring and it's all a big spectacle, and then the bell rings... once the bell rings they suck. With me it's quite the opposite, I come to the ring and it's very simple. I'm proud of the fact that I consider myself a throwback to the good old days, because wrestling itself can be very entertaining and there's nobody that does it better than I do. I think that's fresh and there is a fresh breeze that's going on in the WWE right now."

Cesaro comments on Orton and Cena:

R.I.P. Cesaro:

To be fair, it is true. Cesaro alongwith Sheamus, Ziggler, Miz and Sandow have been giving excellant matches in Singles, Doubles and Triples. Seems they have been placed in eternal mid-card slots with title moving from Cena/Lesnar/Orton to Reigns/Rollins/Ambrose. And we have not seen Bray for some time yet too. No wonder he is frustrated.

It's time creative started working on non-linear storylines or atleast more than one storyline. Sadly they seem to never raise above the mediocrity of Bella borefest and Rusev/USA stories that are good for teenagers.

Still, a bad choice for Cesaro to voice out publicly.

It was a farce of a main event. Absolute fantastic match which Ambrose deserved to win. Why shoehorn in Bray now? Can't he have interfered after the match to pretty much the same effect?

And does WWE need one more heel? With most bored of Cena and Bryan/Reigns in the hospital, a good face would be of more value than a heel now.

I think it is to establish Bray as a heel again, he was way too over as a face post wrestlemania. It only made sense for him to go after Ambrose.

What is this curse of Wrestlemania VI I heard about today. Something like 1/3 of the Wrestlers who took part in it are dead, the oldest one was only 63 when he passed? Anyone hear about this?

It was 25 years ago, not really that much of a stretch tbh. Most of the deaths are a result of heart attacks or drug abuse, and in a sport where careers are short and steroids are involved there's a lot of premature deaths.

yeah but in the thing I heard about this from they compared it to the 40 to 50 players who played significant time in the Super Bowl (American football championship) that y ear and only 1 has died. SO yeah the steroids and drug abuse are a big thing, but 25 years is not that long ago especially considering the oldest one at death was only 63.

That is really the issue, not a curse, but the steroid and drug abuse that was so rampant in those days of the WWE (and still might be) and the toll it took.

That's it unfortunately. While 63 at face value is young, 63 with heart problems and the results of steroid and drug abuse is real old.
