How have AEW sold 10k more tickets when the same tickets that were available this time last week are almost all still there, PLUS a boat load more have showed up in the heavens? Mostly up in the western of the 5 sections... this event has weird manipulation around the actual ticket sales, nothing new there, WWE and wrestling in general have been at it since forever, but this is going to the extremes

Looking at the images, there are definitely tickets that have been sold - there are more available tickets now because the upper sections have opened up completely.

This is the Wrestletix image from 5th June:

Yeah at that point you're there for the atmosphere and watching a screen, but then the same is true of a lot of stadium shows - music, sports, etc

I suppose - though music you're first and foremost for the sound at least - which you can get from high up.

Watched football from Tier 3 at Wembley a few times and it's not great obviously, but at least you can see what's going on with the game.

But yeah, wrestling, boxing... can't imagine you'll have any idea whats going on in the ring if you're not watching the screen.

Not a fan if Wembley in general really. Don't think I've ever been where there hasn't been major hassle either getting there or getting back away from there afterwards.

Pretty sure they stock the booze there years in advance because its invariably the most horrid tasting you'll find anywhere.

Seats aren't actually as bad as you'd think for something that size but yeah I wouldn't bother with the top tier for a boxing or wrestling event, but then for the price in this case maybe I'd be less bothered.

Only other time I've seen non extortionate prices there was for the euros and that turned out to be because they cheaped out on the policing/security instead.

Yeah £30 ain't bad to be fair - though you can still get seats in the first tier for £80 so not sure why someone wouldn't just do that instead.

Just had a look and I’m actually surprised how many seats are still available. The 100 sections has tonnes of seats and even rows un bought. There’s all these “platinum” tickets that haven’t been sold too. I do wonder if closer to the time the price is going to drop for those 100/200 seats because at the moment they’re not being taken.

That usually happens
Although the stadium has been releasing seats in sort of phases, once a milestone hits and it's close to a sell out on what's available, a new part has opened.

Interested in the final number. A few of my friends are interested in going having seen ads in newspapers asking if this is a WWE show. And seeing sting and possibly cm punk might make them go which I'm assuming might happen for others and some seats being scooped.
I've seen much more ads in UK now that were getting closer, like the one during smackdown on BT sport

To be fair I'd probably get a ticket last minute if I went. None of my mates are really wrestling fans aside from the nostalgia element, but I reckon one or two would go for that reason if they had nothing else planned. Jericho,Sting, Punk etc. Even the Hardy boys would draw them in.

If I was still down near London I'd be all over it, but it's only worth travelling half the country for if I can either tie it in with seeing friends or have absolutely nothing else to do. So I reckon good chance I'll go if there's still tickets a week or two before.

That's the advantage/reasoning for the £30 tickets. It's a reasonable amount to splash our if you're casually interested. Similar to seeing a band you're only semi interested in. £80 and you have to actively be a fan really.

I really enjoyed the 'trial' of Roman on SD. SD actually went by really quick, was a great crowd (NY) and the show overall was fun. SD seems to have the right balance (though I do wonder if LA knight should be the one to defeat Theory for the US title, then maybe he drops it to Waller)

Only just catching up on last weeks stuff. FTR and BCG with an absolute banger on Collision. Kind of hoped the latter would win though.

So assuming we get FTR v MJF and Cole when this blind tournament is done. Shame to break that up so soon as well because they have great chemistry together. I hope they do something different other than the obvious MJF turn on Cole.

Also Ibushi and PAC revealed as the 5th men for Blood & Guts. Should be good fun. Both top top wrestlers. God I missed PAC.

Are Raw and Smackdown under completely separate production/management? The difference in the quality of the two is huge.

Smackdown almost threatens to be entertaining and has running storylines, wrestlers developing characters, originality etc.

Raw is just a real life wrestling version of the random generic ticker updates you used to get on old championship manager games.

*Brock Lesnar has come out to the ring*
*BROCK LESNAR HAS ATTACKED [INSERT WRESTLER NAME] AND STARTED A FEUD WITH THEM FOR NO REASON!"

*[insert wrestler name] and [insert wrestler name] have started brawling with each other at ringside*
*Security staff have come out to hold the two wrestlers apart*
*SECURITY STAFF HAVE FAILED TO HOLD THE TWO WRESTLERS APART!*

*It's time for a contract signing for some reason*
*[Insert wrestler name] has gotten angry during the contract signing*
*THE CONTRACT SIGNING HAS ENDED IN A FIGHT!*

I kind of think it's on purpose because they've decided putting different wrestlers in the exact same segments is the most effective way to compare ratings/interaction levels between them, and are more interested in that than the quality of the show...but then I also think its just a byproduct of being too lazy to come up with actual storylines.

Also "Viking rules match"
"The rules are there are no rules"
Cool, so literally the opposite of whatever a viking rules match would be. Stop trying to make things that are stupid and completely pointless into things.

I think raw would be a better show if it was at least 30 minutes shorter. You can see they try to stretch things out so much. And it gets to a point where it doesn't flow well

Smackdown seems like the right length.

Yeah agree with this
Collision is my fav show. The presentation, the commentary team, the way they do the initial promos, it just seems like a serious show and has a good focus on certain wrestlers

Genuine question. Has a female wrestler ever admitted to shitting themselves during a match?

With the bumps and stomach impacts, it must have happened. I know a couple of male performers have admitted it's happened.

Yeah the little promo bits pre-credits are a great way to introduce the wrestlers and set the stakes for that nights episode. I'd say I'm enjoying it more than Dynamite as well currently.

Tell me you have a scat fetish without telling me you have a scat fetish.

Yep Collision the far better show. That was pretty bad.

Aside from awful camera work missing half the spots and Ibushi looking miles off the pace the structure of it is so just boring and predictable...heels always come out first to have the man advantage, guy coming to the ring gets his shit in for the first minute, someone scales the cage for no reason for spots up there. Even the order they came out in was obvious as hell.

Quite liked the idea of the finish being a break down in the heel team as they were pretty much plastered together but apparently Mox submitted on behalf of Yuta which again the camera completely missed. I wish they'd feck these "events" off. This and "anarchy in the arena" can both get in the bin.

Getting back into wrestling, first time I've made a concerted effort since childhood during the Attitude era.

Just an opinion but I think AEW is a far more watchable product for what I want from a wrestling show. It feels like the focus is the wrestling and everything works around that, whereas in WWE it is more about style and the substance comes after. I also prefer the camera work of AEW. WWE can be disorienting.

There are far, far, far too many ads and pacing issues in WWE. It is a real chore to get to the first pumping moments, which to be fair they do well.

However where the WWE completely blows AEW out of the water is the women's roster. It just ain't up to scratch in AEW. Some very amateurish/raw talents.

If I could combine some of the better writing ideas in the WWE in terms of story and the female talent with the filming, pacing and choreography of AEW I'd be in wrestling heaven.

NXT 2015-2020 is for you I think.

That, and OG Smackdown live 2016 is what got me back into wrestling.

AEW just puts on a much more fun show for me, hence why the crowd is (usually) much more lively than WWE which adds to the spectacle in itself.

Problem is imo they rely too much on crazy spots etc. in matches as opposed to storytelling so it just gets a bit samey quite quickly.

Still work through attitude era stuff as background watching when working or exercising. The actual wrestling isn't always great but again the shows are juat much more fun and eventful. WWE has almost flipped on its head since then. Attitude Era the TV shows were nearly always good while the PPVs were often either dull or mostly garbage barring the main event. Now their PPVs seem to be generally very good but the TV stuff is 90% dross.

What the feck have they done to the WWE Network app?

They’ve removed the option to search by year. The iPhone app doesn’t even have a search button, so loads of stuff can’t even be accessed.

I got back into it recently and although AEW has better wrestling, I disagree with the camera angles. AEW have some weird shots from around the ring that make it difficult to watch. I agree with the women's roster though. AEW does sometimes just seem like an upgraded indy show with the spots.

I also stumbled upon some deathmatches they do.. what the feck. Keep that bullshit in the 90s, that ain't cool anymore its just stupid as feck.

I'm so glad for Collision existing, it means I can skip through the more self indulgent parts of Dynamite when it comes to Moxley or the Elite - I don't watch the New Japan so I don't know who Ibushi is, and the build gave me no reason to care.

To be honest I've struggled to care about the entire feud really, it seems to have been going on forever and there aren't many great promo guys involved which hasn't helped with it dragging.

Weird. I feel like I can see more of what takes place in AEW. In WWE it almost becomes nauseating for me with some of the close up angles and fancy shit they try to do.

I also think the more "hardcore" approach to wrestling has to be AEW's selling point, so deathmatch works for me. Some with blood. There's no point in trying to out WWE the WWE with sanitised wrestling but mostly focused on drama. That isn't going to work because the WWE have that covered and are a far bigger organisation.

Still, I don't wanna take a dump on WWE too much. I'm sticking with it for now and if I've got the time to watch both I will. It still has its merits.

Think main difference on the camera angles is wwe, with all their chopping and changing of angles, are much better at hiding things like the leg slaps and the bad punches and that kind of stuff, aew they’re a bit more obvious sometimes.

I find the same with WWE, they're doing a lot better in terms of story and talent now, but I still really struggle to watch it due to the constant cuts. It feels a bit like watching Taken 2 on double speed. The bigger matches that are a bit slower are usually better, but still a bit choppier than I prefer.

AEW generally have a presentation that's more to my taste, but with the hectic matches they can struggle to put the important stuff on the screen (the blood and guts match on Weds is a great example, several important moments missed).

To be fair the camera cuts are there to protect over exposing the moves and help disguise them and (apparently) helps retaining the low attention span viewers.
AEW will end up doing the same since WWE has this down to a science and everything is done their way for a reason.

Yeah I get why they do it, and the idea is sensible, but there's gotta be some sort of middle ground, WWE are way too over the top with it for my liking.

If AEW end up with the Taken style constant cutting and the shininess that looks like JJ Abrams lens flare that WWE has then that'll be my watching done.
