Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

I know but it's kind of moot. Let's be honest all of the standout "wrestling" moments are going to be WWF/WWE ones with the possible exception of Scott Hall showing up on WCW. I assume if you asked someone from Japan theirs it probably wouldn't contain any American ones at all.

Point is you can't compare a company with 4 years of history to ones with 40 (of being on tv). It's like comparing apples and oranges. I don't think AEW is ever going to be the juggernaut that WWE was and still is.

Anyway as a conversation starter I'd say that crazy crowd pop when at the start of the Omega v Danielson match is my AEW #1.

For WWE it would be Montreal Screwjob, Hogan v Warrior, Rock v Hogan, Mankind off the cage, Hart v Austin, Austin KoR speech off the top of my head.
Think you're looking into this opinion far too much tbh. I didn't compare anything to anyone, you did.

Completely agree with this. They don't have any standout "moments" for me that'll go down in wrestling history. I suspect they will one day, but haven't thus far imo.

Punk's return is definitely up there, but that's pretty much it. Then again, those huge moments take time to build up, and a focus on story, along with stand out talent, and AEW is a young promotion that too often neglects story for work rate in the ring. I'm hopeful that Collision will provide a more storied show that'll let them create those kind of moments.

Fair point but then again people always try to compare it with wwe. It would be best for AEW to progress if it develops it's own style and identity.

For me, the biggest moments, in addition to the ones you mentioned, would be Austin's heal trun at WM17, Kane's debut, Austin coming out to save the WWE(although the invasion angle was shit overall), DX reuniting against the spirit squad, Shawn Michaels' entrance at WM12, Mankind winning the WWF title, final 5 minutes of The Rock vs Austin at WM19, Brock ending Undertaker's WM streak, Goldberg Squashing Brock, Brock and Goldberg's confusion before the match at the crowd telling them to feck off, Austin destroying DX express, Triple H giving thumbs down to Batista with Randy on his shoulders, Taker's first American Badass entrance, Benoit winning the title at the WM20, The Rock putting Lesner over at summerslam 2002, the final sweat chin music to Ric Flair (although it wasn't), Edge returning at the royal rumble (don't remember the year), McMahon's NWO promo.

Haven't seen 90% of that list. I'd stopped watching at that point but will check some of them out on YouTube.

Omega kicking out of the one winger angel was better than an awful lot of those, don't care, not having it. That place fecking exploded for it. I mean, sure, in the Attitude days, you got those pops every week for any old random shit a lot of the time.... but it's not really comparable.

Aye that was class. Got hit with Kamagoye before that as well which commentators should have pointed out. Flashback to when he kicked out at 1 after getting hit with the golden trigger in the tag team title match against the Bucks. Anything linked to Ibushi seems to flip a switch in him

Speaking of which when do we think Ibushi finally shows up? Seems inevitable.

Forbidden door as a show was great. the build criticism is fair, they really could and should do a better job with promoting guys who are not from their company.

Ospreay is a star, he's magic. Another awesome match with omega. Omega is so much better when he's basically on his own and not surrounded by all those dorks.

Crowd was mostly great for the show. Think if the show had one or two matches less, they might have been hotter for the main event. Maybe.

Hopefully Danielson is fine for all in. Was cool seeing him come out to final countdown. that era of roh was just awesome especially when it was shown on the wrestling channel here in UK.

100%.

What?
I’m guessing this random post means they had a bad number this week? Just a hunch
 love your work
Yeah it looks like a good chunk of us have tickets, we should think about grabbing a pint before the show.
I'm game, I bought my ticket under the influence so it'd be nice to have someone to meet beforehand instead of ambling around on my own and possibly getting mugged/mugging someone

Anybody watching sd live? Was hoping to do this and mitb but chose all in + NFL season tickets renewal instead

Aew all in advertising on BT sport during smackdown live in London is genius

Just came back from Smackdown, good show even if I didn’t know a few of them

Rey Mysterio wrestled Austin Theory after the show ended which was nice

So AEW Fight Forever is a decent play for an hour or two in exibition matches. The gameplay is fine, a bit simpler than 2k and there are no visual displayed character ratings and stats. I didnt notice if anyone is faster than each other etc, but its possible that everyones stats are equalised so it doesnt matter who you pick. Character creator sucks and the roster is small and you cant even update current champions, with no Toni Storm and no Hook for the FTW title. The game costs too much for what it is, especially as I'm sure they'll sell the missing characters as dlc packs in the future. I'd suggest it at £20 but at £43.49 the price is a bit of a joke imo.

What are folks’ predictions for MITB tonight? I’ve gone with the following:

Men’s MITB - LA Knight

Women’s MITB - Iyo Sky

World Heavyweight Title - Seth Rollins

Women’s Tag Team Titles - Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler

Intercontinental Title - Gunther

Cody Rhodes vs Dominik Mysterio - I want Cody to win although won’t be surprised if Dom sneaks the win with a returning Lesnar interference to help him

Bloodline Civil War - I want the The Usos to win although got a feeling it’s already scripted for a Reigns & Sikoa win

Really hope it's la knight and not Logan Paul that wins mitb

Also I'd go with your predictions and reasoning @RedDevilRoshi
Women's mitb seems like it's most open one

This is brilliant watching a PPV at a normal time, kick off just started main show at 8.

I will be surprised if LA Knight wins. He's 100% the fans pick, but fans arent going to pick the heels. Logan Paul with the briefcase is exactly how you have him move up to being seen as a real contender for the title down the line. WWE love heat and each time Paul comes out with the briefcase reminding you he won it and not LA Knight will get a reaction

They never give UK fans anything they want anyway

Paul to win and be chased by LA is perfect.

Men’s MITB - Damian Priest

Women’s MITB - Got a strange feeling it’ll be Trish

World Heavyweight Title - Seth Rollins but Priest to cash in and win the belt

Women’s Tag Team Titles - Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler

Intercontinental Title - Gunther

Cody Rhodes vs Dominik Mysterio - Dominik thanks to Lesnar

Bloodline Civil War - Reigns and Sikoa
