Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

Nah atleast we got Brock dancing which pretty much saved the first hour.

People criticise Brock but he was acting like a clown and it was pretty hilarious to watch. He was the best thing about the show. He is capable of being entertaining just look at his feud with Eddie and Kurt in the past.
Brock shows what a pair of charisma vacuums Kofi and Rollins are without even saying a word.

If your part time monster heel is also more entertaining and fun than your full time faces then you have a serious problem.

I don't think i'm over egging it when I say that Brock Lesnar dancing to his MITB Boombox is probably the greatest thing to have ever happened in wrestling.

Strowman and Lashley eliminated themselves by going away from the ring and into the crowd (at least that's how Cole justified it).

Also, Zayn mentioning AEW just shows that WWE don't take them seriously despite the crowd chanting its name.

What did he do? I've stopped watching WWE all together now but I do catch the occasional YouTube clip:wenger:

I don't think it was cleared with Vince. They've omitted Zayn's mention of AEW in the WWE Youtube vid of the segment.
I had a feeling that may have been the case, but Zayn didn't appear to hold back at all when he mentioned them. Oh well, the times ahead will be interesting given how many WWE superstars mentioned AEW on social media.

It absolutely was cleared. Raw is on a 10 second tape delay so if they wanted they could've changed camera and/or muted it. Plus no wrestler goes off-script these days, ask yourself when the last proper live shoot was?

Get worked the pair of ya

Is there a gif or video link to this?

Just give Brock a dancing gimmick.

Kofi was brutalised last week and his best friend was re-injured in a sneak attack yet he comes out laughing and flinging pancakes.

Such a fecking goof.

I didn’t watch RAW last night but I believe the first hour didn’t have a single match?

What the hell happened to WWE somebody is taking the piss.

In 12 months time they’ll have lost a significant amount of talent, I get the feeling a good number of ‘superstars’ can’t wait to jump ship.

Moxley has been on Jericho's podcast and had a few interesting things to say.

  • He knew he wanted to leave the company in July 2018 when he was out with an injury

  • Refused to read a scripted promo because he believed it was idiotic/ridiculous whilst Vince believed it was great

  • Talks about the promos he read whilst feuding with Seth late last/early this year, and how they made no sense, tried to rewrite them and got frustrated when he couldn't

  • Says he thought him cutting the promo talking about Romans cancer was distasteful

  • Says he felt like walking out on the Raw where he got shots during a promo, and that was the day he 100% knew he was leaving and not coming back

  • Vince tried to talk him into saying another cancer remark about Roman, says it was so bad they could have lost sponsors, refused to say it (34 minutes into the podcast)

  • Says he was excited to return to wrestling when he was injured, but not excited to return to WWE

  • Says if there was no other promotion other than WWE, he still would have left

  • Vince "didn't know" he was unhappy, even with Jon/dean being open with his frustrations to Vince about scripts

  • Was happy to take bumps from Nia, but felt like it was them punishing him for leaving

  • They offered him a new contract, he didnt look at it

  • His goal in AEW is to be the best version of himself, looking forward to creative freedom

  • Says Tony Kahn is the exact opposite of Vince, likes him and the fact hes a huge wrestling fan

  • Talks about using social media now that hes out of WWE

  • He told Seth hes a wild animal thats been domesticated for too long when Seth was upset about him leaving

Damn.

On another note, I love Brock.

Would love to know what the line was that he refused to say about Roman.

Honestly starting to think concussions are beginning to tell on a mid-70's Vince. That man has taken his fair share of head bumps.

Just last year he was still taking stuff like this, a full-on headbutt...

Kofi was brutalised last week and his best friend was re-injured in a sneak attack yet he comes out laughing and flinging pancakes.

Such a fecking goof.

There is no story line continuity in today's WWE. Why isn't shane and vince feuding with Kofi, it would have been more logical considering it was vince who was against Kofi being the champion.

Kofi's persona since wrestlemania has been inconsistent. One day he acts serious and next day he again acts goofy. I liked his story with Kevin Owens and his goofy act yesterday made his feud with Ziggler meaningless. Even WWE doesn't know where they are going with this.

Kofi was annoyed with Brock acting goofy on Monday. Continuity has been a issue for too long. It’s jarring.

That Moxley interview is brutal. Renee better be careful.

Vince will be annoyed he can’t use the Shield machine for a long long time. He won’t even want to reference it going forward with Mox in AEW.

That interview was just confirming a lot of suspicions people had about the whole creative process and the freedom guys have. It's ridiculous that WWE is still at a point where a 70 year old man, with a juvenile sense of humour, is the main creative force.

Will he not? They literally gave AEW a call out..

MJF nails the entire interview in his heel character. Such a natural. The kid is money.

From 1:31:00 onwards, he does a promo back and forth with Steve Austin.

Wow I’m not a fan of Jon Moxley in the ring. But the podcast with Jericho is fascinating to listen how bad the creative side is when it comes to promos. It’s gone past the stage where can you really blame the wrestlers for these shitty promos every week. Can you blame Kofi and Seth?

I heard about this on a whatculture roundup - did Vince really try and bring Reigns' illness into a promo for Ambrose? Fecking hell!

MJF is absolutely gold.

I watched All In the day before DoN, and he had presence about him on that tbh. Then I saw him the next night I just thought yeah, this guy has it. Can't wait to see how he progresses.

Didn’t just try, got Ambrose to do imply that Reigns deserved it

Apparently Vince wanted him to make another comment on it. One that Ambrose refused to say. One that he says was "so bad it would've cost them sponsors".

So feck knows what the senile old twat wanted him to say.

Only thing I can think of is he would have had him say that he wished Roman had died from it.

Vince McMahon made WWE what it is and has been and by the sounds of things, he's broke it. When HHH takes over, he's going to have some sh** to unravel and put back right, that's going to take some doing. Vince has got too comfortable that his product is unrivalled and has been for a long, long time, WCW came close and Vince bought them out, then TNA was a flop.

Takeover 25 this weekend... Should be a cracker.

We shit on the WWE, but in takeover they have the most consistent and high quality "PPV" show in wrestling.

Really looking forward to Breeze vs Velveteen Dream. Hopefully Breeze hasn't forgotten how to work, when was the last time he got the chance to work a really good match?

That just makes it more frustrating though doesn't it. They clearly have more than enough talent both in front of and behind the camera to put on a great product but they consistently churn out utter shit on the main roster.

Finally cancelled my Network subscription. The product is just garbage now.

It is, but the network itself is good for the old stuff

So onto AEW - 98,000 buyrate for Double or Nothing.

TNA's biggest buyrate was 60,000 and WCW were in the 50s.

Its the biggest ever Non-WWE Wrestling pay per view number

I think its arguable. New Japan's big shows are usually just as good but WWE/Western fans might find it easier to get into the NXT show

It's a huge success. But if they go the monthly PPV route when they start TV those numbers will dwindle quite fast at $60 a pop every month.

They should try to emulate the Takeover model. Big shows every 3-4 months.

I think Cody himself said that AEW wouldn't be doing monthly PPVs. It's a good idea, especially considering how intensive schedules have been criticised for what they're doing to people. It also has the benefit of not having so many rushed storylines that don't have any hype going into events.

This is what hurts WWE at the moment. You have to fill three hours of Raw and two hours of SmackDown weekly, and upwards of 15 PPVs a year. I think reducing Raw back to two hours would be a massive step in the right direction, but I doubt they'll do it any time soon. So much of the time is filled with absolute fecking dross that I find hard to believe anyone finds entertaining.
