Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

Jack Whitehall introducing Bret Hart to present the belt for Dusty Rhodes' kid's wrestling promotion.

2019 is fecking weird.

Its almost like a lot of big wrestling stars have been waiting for another big NA Wrestling company to come around and now they have options

These guys are talented but Christ these moves should be finishing matches. It’s ridiculous.

Completely cheapening near falls and high impact moves.

Its just called wrestling in Mexico. Luchadore style is fast paced instead of selling every move for 30 seconds. And these are probably the 2 best tag teams in the world so it makes sense for them to have the ability to survive more than the rest. Its not for everyone but its great entertainment

Just what I was thinking. The moves are incredible but after 20-25 minutes and both still kicking out of everything, you're just rolling your eyes at that point.

Still, it shits on main roster WWE tag team wrestling from a massive height. Tag team division in WWE is the worst its been in a long time.

All in all about thrice as good as Wrestlemania.

A great day for wrestling. WWF was better with WCW making sure they had to put on a great show to keep people from changing the channel and pay their talent so they didn't appear on the other show. Now might not be a war, but its a great option with much better matches and more freedom for the wrestlers. And in time, years down the line, perhaps if WWE dont buck up their ideas there might be a day where it is a war. I fully expect that WWE will just improve, at long last.

It’s too early to say it’s a war or they ready yet that I agree with.

WWE produce countless hours of wrestling a week. Where as AEW is coming in fresh. The real challenge is when they have their own show and if they can keep the consistency and I doubt they can. Don’t get the fuss about Ambrose. Nobody cared for him in the past two years and his move set was pretty basic especially that annoying clothesline.

The main WWE product needs to worry about the gulf in quality between NXT and it first.

Agree, but at least he can do what hes good at now, acting like a prick and doing deathmatch stuff. He's not a very good wrestler and didnt fit into what WWE wanted him to be. But he looked like a badass tonight, which is something he can do a lot better in AEW. For the first time ever I'm looking forward to an Ambrose match :

Moxley Vs. Jimmy Havoc deathmatch

I agree. To the saame end if they can somehow convince JR to commentate on every show it will help them recreate the attitude era type atmosphere they seem to be going for.

Well blading isn't banned in AEW. Probably should consider it given the state of Dusty right now. That's ridiculous.

Not that bad

Haven't seen wrestling for a while but checked this out. The matches I saw were fun.

DDP baby!

Double or Nothing will only get better. I was introduced to a lot of new faces, and they will build their character profiles over time but I was invested in their match so much more than anything I've seen in WWE for a long, long time.

They're getting all the core things right. I like the look of the title, I hope JR sticks around on commentary more. I hope they draw some big names after the success of their first show too. Finn Balour and Nakamura should jump over

I must admit, I thought it was brilliant.

Now the commentary team need some work (could probably come with time) and so do the camera crew but for a first production it was pretty solid.

It will be nice to have proper competition for the wwe, it is surely a good thing for all wrestling fans going forward.

I’m excited to see where this goes because in all honesty WWE is fecking garbage most of the time (nxt is still amazing). The roster is going to get stronger in time too, I expect a few wrestlers will be making the switch.

Thought that was great.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Think Ambrose will be brilliant. Love that we had head shots, blading and swearing. You need that in wrestling.

A lot of love coming from the wwe roster towards AEW

Vince will be fookin fuming.

Quite the opposite, IMO; I think Vince won't feel threatened by one PPV from a promotion that has yet to have its own regular show. Now, if the regular shows continue to get the same plaudits from said wrestlers, that's when he'd worry.

I reckon he's shitting his pants. It's not like the old days anymore. The audience is smarter, the competition is smarter and he won't be able to buy AEW out.

I think Vince is under huge pressure at the moment, he’s got to deliver for FOX after agreeing a huge deal with them whilst AEW have just signed to a major network themselves.

AEW are offering things they don’t (health insurance mainly) and in the next 12 months he’s probably going to see a fair few from his roster jump ship.

Interesting times anyway, WWE need competition and from a fans prospective it can only be a good thing.

Really strange how they gave Ambrose such a big farewell tour knowing his going to compete for a rival.

I hope Ambrose tones down the wackiness. I really enjoyed his character when Shield first entered the scene. He seemed much more calculated and positioned as the natural leader. High potential for him if AEW promote him
Right.

What WWE wrestles made comments about the show?

Bayley, Big E, Naomi, Anderson from what I saw. Probably more than that.

They didn't. They made Ambrose job around and take on B grade stars, whilst doing comedy sketches. I don't even think he got a Wrestlemania match? And if he did it was a comedy spin. I remember on Raw he was acting a bit like a clown in a womens segment. He was professional enough about what he had to do, but it was obvious WWE were trying their hardest to bring his stock down knowing where he's off to.

Any tribute was more to do with Sheild as a unit ceasing to exist.

I really hope he is. If his ego doesn't really get in the way, it can mean good things for WWE in the future.

Fair enough point about how he was being used on TV towards the end. You’re in fact spot on. I think I mean more so how they acknowledged his leaving and wished him well for the future. Ive never known them to do that for a wrestler leaving the company. Also the whole “will Seth & Roman convince him to stay”.

The TNT deal was massively big for AEW. The last brand to manage that was WCW and it really took WWE all the way, until Vince bought WCW. As mentioned, he'd have a hard time doing the same to AEW. I think their current owner has plans to make something big of it and he has the capital to make it work. They clearly have a great set of minds working on it. Omega, Young Bucks and Cody know their market very well. Vince and HHH I hope are soon finished.

The WWE backroom and sections of the dressing room are a brand of bullying, sexist racist trash-bags that will fall flat on their arse soon enough.

Yeah I think WWE did that to try and 1) create a reason to tune in to their show, i.e. the ambiguity of his future and making it seem like he can be persuaded and 2) They may have hoped a large enough pop from the crowd/Seth and Reigns can make him stay on for a new contract.

WWE are terribly reactive. Did you know - Chris Jericho was on his way out in the early 2000s, just some months after his move from WCW to WWE? He was sick and tired of the shit booking, so they gave him the WWE title for a day to avoid him from leaving. Then they took it off him when it cooled down. They didn't have a clue then and they don't know. IF he had actually walked that day we would have never seen the greatness of Y2J.

The next PPV, All Out, is in Chicago. If they got Punk it would be a big statement of intent.

The issue with Punk is he ain’t doing wrestling full time whether it’s AEW or WWE.

He’d want to be part times like the guys who he hated in the WWE like the rock and Brock Lesnar. I just don’t him ever coming back to wrestling in a weekly basis unless he’s desperate for more cash.

You get a part timer in and then have him over the full timers it starts to get like WWE.

Punk has a contract with UFC till early 2020 I believe.

I think they’re about 5 Established stars, men & female away from a great roster for TV
