This is the turning point...

Apart from not having a first choice defence, I think he's hindered by the players that are untouchable (Bruno, Casemiro, Rashford). He's also made some poor decisions himself, but that's understandable. You can't get every signing right. Mount is the one I'm still baffled about. He doesn't bring anything(yet). Just absolutely can't see it with him. Not fast enough, not strong enough, not creative enough, average in defence. It's just such a poor, pointless piece of the puzzle.
You can say exactly the same about Antony.

Mount is not a great player but he is certainly not what this team needed in the summer. 90% of the fans realized this but not ETH.

Bruno always looks alive... the problem is his temperament. Why does everything about him have be frantic?? The worst is that when he is not on song he doesn't realise it and slow down. For a counter attacking side it works but when you have to calm down and work the opposition Bruno is not just your man.

Nope. This only papers over the cracks for a few days.

The only way this is the turning point is, if ETH makes some changes to selection, and we get some players back so we can have some quality on the wings. When the left wing is out-of-form Rashford and inverted Lindelof, and the right wing is average Dalot and Mount/Bruno, we are getting nowhere. We actually have a focal point in attack to bring the wings into play, but they are just average.

Yeah, we seem to look better in attack with real width, so my guess is we might try something like this soon:

Garnacho-------------Hojlund---------------Antony
---------------Case/Mount----------Bruno--------------
-------------------------Amrabat----------------
Reguilon------LCB-----------RCB-------------Dalot
-----------------------------Onana----------------------------

We've scored 9 goals in 8 Prem games, which is just terrible. This team might get ripped apart down the middle but at least we'd have some actual width on both sides.

Rashford looks depressed out there.

I really don’t think they would have scored if we had a semi competent shot stopper. It changed the game completely and they sat back.

I think we are capable of putting together a run. Garnacho has to start and hopefully some defenders come back from injury.

Lets hope it can be a turning point.

As United fans ot can be hard to distill whats going on but its pretty obvious that:
1. We had an over loaded pre season after a gruelling season last year with an unprecedented world cup schedule. The players look shot and are making uncharacteristic errors. Even last years best performers, such as Rashford & Casemiro look totally knackered/burnt out
2. We have 4 new signifiant signings, all first teamers, and 3 of them coming back from injuries and we are trying to intergrate them.
3. We have a manager only 12 months into the job, and many are saying he should go - which is absolute crazy.
4. The knives have been out in the media ever since the wolves game, quite rightly and the pressure has built to horrendous levels. The belittling of Ten Hag has been awful, even Zlatan coming out and saying he cant manage big name players.

5. We have had some really bad luck go against us, could of had a pen at spurs, could of had a late winner at Arsenal, could of got back in it against Brighton etc

At this point, you just hope on hope that we can no string together another win. Our arrogance is also killing us (should be beating Palace/galatasary/etc etc)

Its been hard, especially after some of the individual errors (Lindelof today, although Onana could of done better)
We need to check ourselves as fans and get behind them and try to lift them. All the booing and jeering at old trafford is bang out of order

We need to scrape to 5th, so every 3 points helps. But this team is going nowhere.

Let’s get past Sheffield United and Copenhagen and then hope we’re not on the end of a 5+ goal thrashing against City before we start with the positive yet blind optimism, until the substitutions we didn’t deserve anything and unless ETH is going to see some of his favourites need to be dropped nothing will change.

I get that Fernandes and Rashford are senior players and team leaders but both are horribly out of form and the team is suffering for it, Garnacho looks like he’ll make something happen all the time and looks stronger than last season whilst Mount and Eriksen have probably given the ball away less all season than Fernandes in the last couple of games alone.

With Casemiro it’s a hard one as whilst he’s also out of form we don’t have anyone to replace him and that’s what needed to be addressed in the summer, someone like Lavia instead of Mount as we already had Mejbri and Mainoo as well as Fernandes to do what Mount offers but I think playing Casemiro alongside Amrabat will definitely help Casemiro.

Score line was worse then but for me this was a more abysmal overall performance. We played well that first half against Pool.

Fair enough, but it really wasn't that bad of a performance at all. We were walked through multiple times in previous games this year alone. That didn't happen today. We gifted them a goal and they did very little outside of that.

If we played well then yes it could be. But if it’s just two lucky moments then no and ETH will be signing his own death warrant if he thinks it can be.

This international break ETH needs to work with this team like he did during the World Cup.

We can’t continue down this road because it’s not sustainable at any club. It doesn’t matter who the owners are at this stage, as long as he is being paid on time let do his bloody job.

The players that are not allowing the team to sync will derail our progression, it won’t be for them not trying or bad attitude. Majority of footballers need certain settings to get the best out of them. Zlatan had to leave Barca. Sneijder found his best form at Inter and Freddie Kanoute was never a finer player than he was at Sevilla.

This manager has to build momentum but it won’t happen without the right tools.

It can only be seen as a turning point, if our plan going forward is to spam balls over the top in disguise of creativity.

We had tons of these under Ole and Mou. Its not sustainable, the foundation is still lacking.

Pity most of the team is on international duty.

Worst performance of the last two seasons and it’s your turning point? Good god.
This is such an odd take. They got a jammy goal and had some half chances whilst United kept trying to score and made it hard for ourselves. We’ve had so many worse games than this.

I've had time to reflect and a couple of contemplation beers so feel well placed to boldly state The Quad is officially on.

I've a few reflection beers in the fridge so I may return to this post at a later date.

 This is a classic example of a thread made off the back of a mental couple of minutes by players who, normally, would come out sucking their own thumbs after falling into a well of tits. Any seasoned united supporter will tell you the same thing..you are going to regret this thread.
I think the htread was made with a large dose of Irony. Funny thread too.

Its absolutely on!

I fecking hope so. Hopefully with some more players back after the break we’ll be looking much more solid. I still want to keep a clean sheet every so often though.

I want to win the league with most goals but also most goals conceded. Absolute Kevin Keegan football.

Can you imagine if, in 20 years’ time, we’ve enjoyed numerous trophies under Erik knowing that it was a last-gasp McTominay double that proved the turning point?

Steve Bruce netted two in four minutes a long, long time ago, and it’s fair to say that proved pivotal for a certain manager.

Surely not…

I know. But I don’t know what it was about today. Something felt different. But still I think it’s our worst performance so far this season. We played some really good football in previous games but had a few unlucky things go against us and/or weren’t clinical enough. Can’t say that about today until the last 5 mins.

First half definitely up there but the second half wasn't anywhere near as bad. And seeing them pushing until the end, scoring 3 times very late on despite the low confidence and overall poor performance was good to see.

Far to often this United side would let games like today end with a whimper.

We’ve been so bad in first halves for so long now. Ole built most of his winning runs on games where we conceded first. That game kind of reminded me of the LVG guys when Fellaini would come on and we’d bombard teams.

It may well be a turning point, but we've been turning around in circles ending up in the 2-6 spots for a decade now.

One of the many surprising things about this club is its ability, to lower yours, and their standards. Just when you think we couldn't be any more putrid. from hoofball, to square passing, to not attacking a space, or even being in said space to receive the ball, to walking back after being disposessed. We have it all covered..

Performances have been there?
If these are the foundations, I’m not entering this building once it is erected.

There’s been nothing to build on in recent weeks. Literally got no idea what Ten Hag tries from here. I’m presuming Hail Marys to Maguire and McTominay are not the future.

A turning point would have been beating Brentford 4-0 with Rashford getting a hat-trick, Hojland getting the other, and Onana getting through 90 mins without making a cock up.
Struggling to score against Brentford for 93mins at home is not a turning point

It would be if the manager stopped picking Rashford and trying to shoehorn Mount into the team alongside Bruno. But he won't. He'll do the same thing the next game that he's done all season. Another manager that will die on the hill of shoehorning his favourites into the team.
