I would say our main pull is playing time. We can offer him by far the most of any of the top clubs. Conveniently, that also seems to be his main reason for leaving Barca.

But yeah, DDG...

Learn to write what you mean then, and don't insult people when they don't assume you are implying something that isn't written, by your post count I can realise you aren't new, so you must be aware you can only convey a certain amount by text, hence people may misunderstand you.

But ok  I'm going to let you get on with it mate...

Thats awfully nice of you. I can realise you arent new either. So U Can Keep looking for MY Crazy Opinions Crammed with Killer subtext.

Lots of different reasons he would play for us.

1: Playing time - lack of genuine quality in a position he plays.
2: Top 3 biggest clubs in the world, known for creating stars in world football.
3: Big wage payers where necessary.
4: Competitive in every competition we play.
5: Several Spanish speaking players in the squad.

Manchester City already spent 30m on a central midfielder. Bayern Munich may have his old manager; but will this kid fancy his chances against Schweinsteiger, Martinez, Kroos - and he's not going to play AM with Gotze and Muller there.
He seems like a smart enough kid, I expect him to use his head and consider the options at the other teams. It's common knowledge that we have been craving a midfielder, and I'm sure he recognizes that the biggest club which could offer him a place in the starting 11 immediately is United.

Should he get offers and want to return to Barcelona in 5 years - is that such a big deal? If we're buying him for under 20 million, that's 5 years of a potentially world class midfielder playing for us - and at the end of it, we'd still get our money back.

I haven't heard much about Chelsea battling for him, which surprises me a little. Hopefully if they do make a move, he will have been abjected to enough of Mourinho's antics these last 3 seasons to put him off. Of course, they may not bother him, and it's possible he'd just love to work with somebody he considers to be a world class manager.

I expect us to get this lad. Ultimately, it's down to his own choice - he could practically pick any team in the world to move to, but it's clear that his intentions for moving are for playing time, most importantly; immediate playing time. If he wants to be considered for their world cup squad next year, he has one season to impress - he can't be fighting for his place on the fringes. He needs to go straight into the starting 11.

For me, it's a no-brainer for both parties. He would not only add an element of control to our game, the flair he would provide in his link up play and the attacking he could bring deep from our midfield would really add the dimension we've been crying out for in dying seasons. A midfield 3 with Carrick, Thiago and Kagawa I would have utmost confidence in controlling games without the need for a big man (with a big afro).

-- He can speak English. I bet he can't speak German.
Game. Set. Match to United.

Simple but basically spot on.

People are going off on really fecking weird tangents in order to convince themselves as to why he will/won't come here.

On top of competitive wages, not taking a step down in terms of playing for another illustrious club (feck you City, PSG and Monaco) and also it must be appealing to look at the potential in our squad. To be part of a group of players all super talented and all around the same age: DDG, Jones, Smalling, Rafael, Fabio, Cleverley, Hernandez, Evans, Welbeck, Powell and Kagawa.

Thiago is more talented than most of them, that's the scary thing.

I'm not convinced he'd be too bothered about returning to Barca. The journos in spain have been saying all along that Thiago has never been overly romanced by Barca and just wants to be successful, first and foremost. I think he'll be hero worshipped if he came here, the stage is set for him. Personally, I think he'll love it here.

Yup, it's good knowing there are Barca players out there not in love with all of the "more than a club" fluff and mumbo jumbo.

Ok you've convinced me he's signed -what number should I get printed on my shirt? I need to swing by Asda first for some milk - so you got 10 minutes to tell me the number.

Ramshock, have you lost your mind? Leave this thread for a while and rethink things would be my advice before you bring infractions down upon yourself.

I'm still confused about one thing though.

If DdG is our only pull for young Spanish players then... how did we manage to sign DdG?

Yup.

Using Ramshock's logic, our main pull of signing Ronaldo will be Bebe.

Contrary to what some think, we can't guarantee him game time every week. Pogba asked for that and look where it got him. Thiago has to work hard and won't be given any preferential treatment if he came.

He'd be our most talented and gifted midfielder straight away (and I'm Carrick's biggest fan as he's my favourite player), that's the same like saying RVP wouldn't have walked into our starting line-up. World class talent and we have a spot wide open, he will be first choice from day 1.

Won't exactly require much hard work though will it. He'll walk into our first team.

beat you to it I'm afraid Cider, last page...

On a serious note, I know he said he will speak after the tourney is over, but do they tend to wait a few days before doing pressers or do they jump straight into it like us muppets of the world need to hear? I didn't know how long we can realistically expect some word from Thiago, even if Thiago responds with something like

'Do they have DDG?'....

fecking hell, it's looking highly likely that he'll be coming here yet people still think theres more chance of him going to teams that aren't even supposed to be interested.

It's not though? There's loads of differences between him having good reason to want to come here, which he does and him looking highly likely he will.

 Utter nonsense.

We don't guarentuee anyone games was the message put out, especially not a spoilt 18 year old who wasn't pulling his weight for the reserves because he felt he was too good for them. An £18m signing from Barcelona who already has nearly 70 appearances for what has been the best side in the world for the last 5 years can feel pretty comfortable he's going to get the amount of games he wants in our midfield.

From what we have heard, admittedly from semi-reliable sources and quotes by his father/himself in the media, United, City, Arsenal and Bayern are sniffing around. I think we can quite safely rule out a move to Arsenal as they would be two steps down from Barcelona, Bayern is very unlikely despite Pep's arrival for reasons Balu stated (Sammer as Director of football wants to build the team around outstanding German talent, Pep can't make signings on his own, Thiago is not needed as they have shitloads of quality in the middle), so that leaves City and us. City have just signed Fernandinho and have yet to offload someone, so he would probably have to share playing time with Fernandinho, Toure and probably one of Barry/Milner/Garcia. So... using logic we are the most likely destination... a big gaping hole in CM, a new manager likely wanting to leave a mark with a tremendous first signing, a player who would earn shedloads here while getting all the playing time he needs to get into the Spain team 2014. It's a win-win situation for player and club, so yeah, I'm believing.

Don't forget, he might want to play for the champions too :)

You feckers, came here and saw that have been three pages from yesterday. Excited, started to read the posts. Disappointed that not there wasn't something new from journos, but we didn't have even a tweet or google docs.

3 Pages?

I'll have 3 pages of posts in here myself if we sign him. Cina will probably have about 12.

Silva convinced him to join Manchester, but as we all know Spanish people don't know about Manchester City, so De Gea came to us.

I'm still trying to remain conservative about this one, as the pain of another rejection will hurt. I made my views on Thiago known long ago only to be called a fanboy buy one of our caf policemen. Best young player, or at least midfielder in the game I'd say. Levels above what we currently have.

It's hard to really weigh in with a will he/ won't he for me, truth is unless you have spoken to Thiago or David Moyes, you are interpreting media like everyone else...

Here's a good question, has there been anything actually solid to confirm that we are actually seriously interested? Not saying there isn't, more asking if there is...

There is rarely anything solid to suggest we are in for any of our targets until the news comes out that we have had a bid accepted/rejected. Even with De Gea the most solid thing we had was that Steele had gone along with Fergie to watch Atletico against Valencia when we were due to play Valencia in the UCL.

Is there anything concrete from either side? Or we are just dancing around with the rumours?

I just hope this doesn't end up like Sneijder. :nervous:

Very true yes, can't argue with that, I'm more hoping that David would employ a new policy regarding transfers, perhaps text us all first?
