If we got him I'd be happy with that being the end of our business this window (assuming someone like Evra doesn't leave). There still would be the question of a back-up to Carrick of course, but we've taken that risk for years whilst ignoring the central-midfield altogether, so I'd happily make that sacrifice to sign Thiago :drool:

With all the money we're supposedly making from these transfer deals, we really ought to be able to offer him enough to make money not an issue. I genuinely believe that it isn't his central concern, and that if he leaves Barca it'll be for playing time. So we only need to make him a sweet enough offer that City's inevitable £200mil joke doesn't make us look stingy. He's young, but we are talking about a potential best CM in the world type player here, and I hope our offer (if we make/have made one) reflects that.

Bet it will take another month before we know anything remotely concrete. After the tournament, he will announce he wants to have a break first and mull about his future later. We've all seen it before.
 
Better to just assume he won't join lads, it'll make the heartbreak more bearable.

It has been a while since we've had a left footed player on the left wing, I'd love for us to get one, but I genuinely can't think of any other than Bale. Di Maria maybe? But he usually plays on the right. Most left footed players in the modern game are used on the right anyway.

He played from the left for Benfica, and he put the cross in for Ronaldo's goal against us from the left. Im sure he will could remember how to play there.

Like Isco this is a pipe dream, it won't happen. We will sign some lumbering oaf midfielder like Fellaini or some overpriced rubbish like Young. Moyes is going to naturally be conservative with his initial buys.
 
We'd be fecking insane to let this one slip through our nets though. We've watched Silva, Mata and Cazorla come and tear up the league.. surely we won't let another wee Spaniard pass us by? Especially at such a price.

Well we let Isco go and I just don't see us signing Thiagao. The Spanish players Isco, silva, Cazorla, Mata thrive in a 433 or 4231 which we dont play. We shoehorn players into 442 like we will do with Kagawa.

Firstly, Thiago could sit happily next to Carrick in a 4-4-2.

Secondly the system we use isn't really a 4-4-2, it's more of a 4-2-3-1 that uses two proper midfielders rather than defensive midfielders.

Thirdly, who knows what plans Moyes has for this team? We've said for a long time that this squad would fit more naturally into a more fluid system.

I would love if we signed him, but it takes more than just money, he has to have a real need to leave Barca.

Well, he has. It really looks like Tito couldn't give him assurances about playing time and he wants to move on as he desperately wants to be in the Spain team for the World Cup in Brazil. I'm convinced he will move, the question is his destination.
