I agree, and even though he played as an attacking midfielder today, he still liked going deeper to get the ball than traditional attacking mids and he definitely looked more comfortable in previous games when he started deeper just in front of Illaramendi.

Definitely, he is at his best when he looks to give the CB an out ball and then he can turn and dictate the play and tempo of the next attack. I really can't see him being anything but a success here playing alongside Carrick.

a man got to have a code

Indeed Mr Toretto.

We could get a song sorted for him pretty quick too - it'd have to go to the theme of Alejandro by Lady Gaga.

Oh my gosh, imagine the stretty bouncing to gaga. How wonderful.

i'm convinced the fabregas "interest" is just a smokescreen and we're set on getting Thiago.

I don't think the club does smokescreens, really. It seems like we just go about our business as quietly as possible. But in the media sense, I'm sure you're right. Fabregas leaving never made any sense, since his prioritisation in the team is the very reason Thiago is considering leaving (and, obviously, because of the whole 'moving home, to my dream club, for the rest of my life' stuff such a short time ago.)

It was just the usual case of linking United with a good midfielder, slightly strengthened by the fact that we were indeed sniffing around a Barca midfielder. At least we bloody better be.

If he wouldn't be interested in United, he would just say "no" in his interview. He'll definitely look at the options after the tournament.

Chicharito helped Varela, greatly and that's what Dave can certainly do for Thiago.

I can't help but overanalyse his look and walk-away when asked about United at the beginning of the clip. There would be no reason to do that unless there was at least a choice to make, surely?

Thiago is coming, have some faith! His dad (agent) is supposedly open to the move, he wants out of Barca, he's cheap, he's going to be top class. This is the type of signing that the club has been waiting for these last few years, someone great but not overpriced. Hell, we've even pursued Thiago himself these last few years.

No it is not!

Just accept we will end up with Leon Osman instead and be bloody grateful!

Stubies right, we've never bought a quality player. I can only think of a handful.

Ronaldo, Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Van Persie, Nani, Keane, Cantona, Veron, Ferdinand, Vidic, Cole, Yorke, Solskjaer, Hernandez, Berbatov. I expect I've missed one or two. It's been a hard life supporting this mod table side with no money and no pulling power.

His contract clause doesn't lie, so answer to Your question is "Yes". Of course one of his option is also improved contract at Barcelona but that doesn't change the fact that he may leave for a stated price.

United made De Gea, who's 22 years old, the main big club goalkeeper for years to come and I think Thiago will propably look into that as a reason to seriously consider this option.

Good point. That CM spot is there for him to claim should he choose to take it.

That's a perspicacious point, plus they're friends. I still think Barca will just offer him increased wages and playing time but this is a worthy notion.

Yes, there always is, which is why over the years players have often been coy and then not moved. The point is that if he says categorically that he's not moving, he weakens his agent's position in negotiations for a new contract with Barca. He wouldn't even rule just us and out and leave a move elsewhere open, since the more people in for him, again, the better the contracts offered by his suitor clubs will be.

Which is why you must ignore everything a player does except actually signing their name on a contract.

I really can't see Barca leaving this one slip through their net he's far too good to just let walk away. Before anyone says they don't have any choice due to the release clause, he's still their player and they pay his wages. There's nothing stopping them offering him an improved contract with the promise of more game time and the heir to Xavi's throne.
I think Barca are still huge favourites to keep him and the links to us and Bayern will earn him a better deal.

Just seen his reaction after he was asked about a possible move to us and the way he left with a smile on his face says it all.

He's coming.

Hearing that coming from a German, excites me. You guys are rarely wrong when it comes to football.

I'm done.

Who are we to argue with an expert like yourself over whether a man is coming or not by the smile on his face?

He could have reacted differently, right? His reaction basically confirmed that there is something in those rumours that have been flying around for the last couple of weeks now.
