He was brilliant earlier. And about as centre midish as you could wish for.

There's still Monaco to worry about though. Who knows which deals they might swoop in and hijack this summer.
I think Thiago aims much higher than Monaco though and unlike all the players bought by them so far, he will definitely have other choices.

Thought both him & Isco looked really commanding. Think Romeu plays that DM role better than Iarramendi though

Does Sergi Roberto play in the holding midfield role? I thought he was really highly rated, I was surprised to see that he wasn't called up.

No, Roberto is an attacking mid who basically plays where Thiago usually does. Truth is I think he's better than people realize but he is at the end of a long queue and is determined to stay at the club. I like him a lot but it's a numbers game and he'd really have to be content with a near nonexistent role

He was the Sky pundit's man of the match, if that means anything.

Strange decision, it was very much a lunch pail performance, IMO - he added little to the attack and was solid in his role. Not much in the way of decisive play or reading the game - very mechanical

I see people keep saying he is eyeing for a better contract by using us. But is contract the problem for him or is playing time the problem? I mean if he is unhappy, its because he doesnt get to play as often and not the money.

Iniesta is good for at least two/thres more years at the very top, xavi will probably be replaced by Fabregas. Can see him thinking of leaving for 3 years, become a big player for a big club, go back to Barca when Iniesta is done.

He isnt Barca bred like FC Barca told us. His opinion was that if Thiago leaves, he will not return to Barca.

Dream signing he'd be. Would walk into our first eleven and make it significantly better.

I'm a bit concerned that is gone quiet over this recently. I know he said that he will make decision after the Euros but all the rumours of us being in contact and scouting him have dried up. Few journos on twatter have mentioned that he was being scored under SAF but that with new staff things have changed. .. could it be moyes is not interested?

It's typical of United to make all signings as quietly as possible. It's so on.

That's pretty much the only reason there aren't any rumours. He said he'd decide his future after the euro's, so any stories from journalists will obviously be bullshit if they make some. There won't be any rumours until the end of the euros.

Would be a great move for both parties. We would get a quality midfielder and he would be first choice at a top club that has just won the league.

Exactly my thoughts. Brake the bank. He have something we desperately needs, someone who can dribble and keep our possession against tight marking and hard working midfielders, something that have been our weakness for years. His other asset is that in a counter he can easily make his man and create a two against one situation, this will give our wingers more options and space, something that we have missed the last season.

Imagine Valencia/Zaha on th right and Young/(Di Maria - another dream signing) on the other flank with space in a one against one challenge with RvP in the middle and Kagawa in the second wave. Wow!! How hard can it be to solve this weakness :-(

All 5' 7" of him hustling and bustling making challenges next to Carrick? Playing box to box?

Didn't know he had a defensive side to his game. Fair enough.

Same height as Scholes and Wilshire, and while I don't see him throwing in heavy challenges his ability to keep possession and press the ball can be just as valuable defensively.

We got away with playing defenders in midfield next to Carrick at times, so he'll definitely be an upgrade of whoever we have.
