I don't see why everyone has accepted he'll go to Madrid? He's been at Barca his whole career, and people think he'll just switch to their biggest rivals just like that? He probably wants to leave but I don't think the situation is that bad that he'd go to Madrid. He doesn't seem the type who would pull a Figo either. Still think we have more of a chance to get him than anyone, we just have to wait for the u21 championships to be finished to see any developments.

:)

Yeh.....and he seems to play where Kagawa and Rooney plays

We've had this discussions many times these last few weeks, he plays in central midfield. If you look at his average positions on a pitch, he's basically right in the middle of the field. He's equally adept at playing attacking mid, but he's a midfielder first and foremost.
There was also a stat I saw that only Xavi (every 48 seconds) has completed a pass more often than thiago (every 52 seconds). Attacking midfielders like Rooney or kagawa don't have these kind of stats.

I'd like to think he has a bit more loyalty than Figo did :p

Pep said this when he was still with the club, the problem isn't Thiago...it's Mazinho. I'd have a hard time believing Thiago would pull a Figo should he leave. These things may happen more often in England perhaps but there are unwritten rules you have to abide by in the Primera. Thiago is not a douche

Like he said and I've reiterated, we won't hear anything credible until after the Euros

As a Barca fan, would you feel as aggrieved with Thiago making that move as you did with Figo. Obviously Figo went as one of the worlds best, but Thiago goes as a Barca product.

On a side note I'm surprised people are in and out of this thread with pointless contradicting updates on a daily basis with very few words from the horses mouth. Nothing changes regarding transfers does it?

The only problem is for how much Fellaini would cost we want more the solid we want a player who will work well with Carrick and give us one of this leagues best midfields.

Why exactly is the cost important? PL clubs dont sell us on the cheap anyway and its the price thats needed to get a PL proven player.

I do love how anything suggesting he's coming here is disregarded immediately but when someone says a player is going somewhere else we all throw the towel in immediately

Erm...isnt that the same thing?

Figo was a foreigner, a mercenary if you will not a cantera player that also plays for La Roja like Thiago.

Truth is, the betrayal would cut much deeper than Figo

Footballers don't care any more. If Real offer him a shitload of money, he'll go.

So you think Cleverley or Welbeck would go to City if offered a lot of money?
Funny how people expect our players to stay loyal their entire careers, but players on other teams are just in it for the money, unless they come to United.

Theres 2 ways of looking at this:

If his main reason for wanting to leave Barcelona is because he wants to get into the national team for the World Cup, he'd have a much better chance of getting into the Spanish National Team as a regular starter for Real Madrid than one for United or City. Not to mention, Real Madrid would offer a great wage to secure Thiago even if one of the main reasons was just to stick it to Barcelona.

On the other hand, I can't see how a Cantera player, who grew up with the Mas Qu En Club mantra, would go to their most hated rivals. I think Thiago's of the same thinking as Fabregas, where he needs to leave to get regular playing time, but will return someday. If he goes to Madrid that would never happen.

When did I say all of our players were loyal? Thiago's either vying for a move or he wants a new contract at Barca, otherwise he'd put an end to the speculation.

People on here in general expect everyone on United to be loyal, even if they didn't come through our youth team. A lot of people seem to think that Madrid is his most likely transfer, but if it came to one of our players and either City or Liverpool were interested, we would just laugh it off and say no chance.

He wants a move because he isn't getting enough playing time, and that clause was in his contract for that specific reason. I don't think he would ever want to go to Madrid, like FcBarca said, its his father who seems to want him to go there. I don't think this has anything to do about money either.

I don't think they do, I mean how many times recently have players switched directly between say Everton-Liverpool, United-Liverpool, Spurs-Arsenal or United-City?

Tevez and Campbell spring to mind but both caused a fair bit of controversy and that's taking into consideration four big rivalries as opposed to just the one between Barca and Madrid, I'm not sure whether or not players have moved between other big rivals in Spain.

Has it ever even happened that a player that went through the ranks of one club went directly to their biggest rivals, apart from Sol Campbell? It's not something that happens at all, and to say Barca would be furious would be an understatement.

Of course the cost is important you want to get your money's worth. You don't just spend 25 million to buy somebody who is solid you want someone who will elevate your team. He would imo cost too much for what I assume you will get from him. You can get better players than Felliani for the same price so it makes little sense to me to pay that much.

I don't think he would ever consider it really. As for his father, not sure even he would truly want that for his son - I just think it's more douchery to pressure the board to cave on demands for his son. I understand the protection of his offspring but he knows little about the club and probably drawing more on his experiences as a professional rather than that at Barcelona. The kids understand what it means to play for the club, Rafinha & Thiago. They'd perhaps leave one day but they wouldn't Figo it

Ho far away is Rafinha from being a regular first teamer? More talanted then his brother?

I don't know where he's going, but there's no way Barca will sell him and Fabregas. Can't believe muppet season is over and it's only 1st of June.

He's being promoted this season to the 1st team but is likely to go out on loan. More talented than his brother? Personally, I don't think so. More versatile perhaps but no one is quite sure what sort of player he is or can be let alone where his best position is

He played in the Copa Catalunya match for the 1st team earlier in the week against Asspanyol and I have to say I was really surprised by what I saw - he was fantastic. It's hard to gauge with some cantera players due to how often they are moved around the pitch (Common La Masia tactic) and the ineptitude of a coach like Eusebio with the B team. He's looked ordinary at times and brilliant at other times. He doesn't usually have the confidence on the pitch Thiago does and is often guilty of deferring to others. Yet, everytime I see him get a run out with the 1st team, I am impressed by what I see

On Skybet he is 11/4 to join United. And evens favorite to join Madrid.

I'd be a little surprised if he went to Madrid, I can't really see them playing him much more than Barcelona do. Plus, isn't he a boyhood Barcelona fan?

I'm certain he won't join Madrid. I don't know the guy at all, but I'm certain he wouldn't join Barca's fiercest rivals. Not as if Barca has wronged him in anyway.

I reckon he'll stay, join us or join Milan.

Did he seem emotional after FT today? Anything different from the rest?

He was fine at FT it was all about Abidal in all honesty.

FCBarca what do you think of Rosell?

We're far less Més Que en club with Sandy. I have a laundry list of complaints with him and they are far from minor critiques. He's a corporate whore who is certain to improve the bottom line but he's not a true culé

Their CM options are limited, especially with Khedira follows Mou to Chelsea. There was also talk of Alonso leaving (doubt it) when they lost to Dortmund.
