Any guy that can help us with creative passing through the middle and to dominate possession more, particularly against the big teams is ok with me.

(That's not Fellaini.)

Why would Barca let this kid go? It'd be a game changer if we landed him. He'd be one of the best players in the league. Which says a lot about Barca's midfield if he can't get in it regularly enough.

They don't have a say.

Or it says something about Tito and/or the board, really

It's what that Andy Mitten said.he was at the last Barca game and spoke to Barca people about it. It seems Madrid are involved now though and I dont think Thiago would mind crossing the divide. It's game over for us now they're involved, you'd have thought.

I don't buy this. Only the boy himself and his father knows his intentions. Going to Madrid would create big problems, he have a talanted brother too and I don't think his father want's to create family problems.

It's either stay in Barca or some of the Italian giants or maybe us, worst case scenario would be City. Going to PSG or Monaco would be make economical sense but I hope they are smarter then this.

Thiago would fit perfect for us. I actually think he would become a world beater in our team. I just pray.

Why would it create family problems if he moved to Madrid? So they'd play for different clubs, rivals even. I think they'd get over it.

He's obviously worth a lot more than £15m and he would be a great player for any club in Europe, I wouldn't be surprised to see a good 7-8 times trigger his release clause. We was after him last year as well let's hope he's impressed with our pursuit of him, id break the bank to get him here he's got all the tools to be the best midfielder in Europe in the coming years.

Barcelona should loan him to Atletico or Valencia for a year and then replace Xavi with him but since he has an incredibly low release clause for a player of his talent, it's going to be out of their hands.

I don't think he'd want that. He's really beyond the point where he should be loaned out while waiting for a first team position, however good the loan team is. He's 22, and needs to be given a starting spot in a top CL team to make his own.

I don't know why but I don't see this one happening. Maybe it's because he seems quite different to the type of player we usually sign. Or maybe because of the set notion that a Mourinho or Pelligrini would attract players like this more than Moyes would.

He'll be a announced as a United player anytime after June 18th. I have this said before, this reminds of the DeGea deal.

Have a strong gut feeling about this one.

This is from 2011

The father of Barcelona star Barcelona youngster Thiago Alcantara has admitted that he held talks with Real Madrid regarding his son's situation.

The Spain Under-21 international was strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu earlier in the summer, but Thiago put an end to that speculation by signing a two-year contract extension at the end of June, which will keep him at the Catalan club until 2015.

After the gifted midfielder committed himself to Barca, the player's father admitted that Real Madrid had made enquiries, and he has now revealed that there were also exploratory talks when the 20-year-old's future was in the balance.

"I spoke with [then Madrid general director] Jorge Valdano at that time. He wanted to know how the situation was; if Barcelona wanted him," Mazinho told La Sexta.

Thiago's stock has risen considerably over the last two months, and though the player has aired his love for the club, his father has refused to rule out a future transfer.

Mazinho added: "He wants to succeed in football; it could be at any other club. You never know. Tomorrow he goes to another club, he scores goals, and joins another club..."

This is from today

Reports are suggesting that Real Madrid have already started talks with their rivals Barcelona for the possiblity of young midfielder Thiago Alcântara joining the Spanish club.

According to RAC1, the authorities are in advanced talks with Mazinho, the father and manager of Thiago, and it is also reported that the agent has given green light to Real Madrid to throw the offer at Barcelona.

The 22 year-old central midfielder will cost 18 million euros to Real Madrid as to activate the buy-out clause of the player, however the offer is only valid until the end of July.

The Real Madrid president has also openly expressed his interest on signing the Catalan's midfielder.

Like I said where he ends up will tell us a lot about him. He may go to Real they are the biggest club in the world but they are always a mess and long term may not be the best option and he would be under immense pressure immediately. They would most likely pay him the most also. Hopefully we attempt to get involved

seriously what is it with United and Real going after the same players all of the time (lately)....it's starting to piss me off, we already sold them a lot of our great players, they can feck off for once and let us have atleast 1 of Thiago/Bale.

Oh you guys.

The slightest bs story and it's absolutely on or off for good.

This is the Mundo Deportivo article. Pretty poor translation though.

Thiago Alcantara has no intention of going to Real Madrid. Barca midfielder, who until July 31 will have a buyout clause of 18 million euros that would 90 'kilos' if no one pays that amount before that time, indirect starred interview that Florentino Perez, president Real Madrid on Wednesday night gave the program 'Play of the twelve' (Cope).

The white president, to be re-elected next Tuesday to four years, left the door open to signing Thiago if the next coach is interested in it. "If there is a player who does not seem to me right Barcelona. If Barcelona does not care as we do, we'll go for it," said Perez, who said he had "only a war for the club with the signing of Figo" . The merengue boss explained, "then there was no president to talk".

Thiago said that "after the European Under-21 we'll see what happens," but if you leave the club, do not think of going to the Bernabeu. Offers that English football has (Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United) and Bayern are very attractive for him

Given our current midfield options, Fellaini wouldnt be half bad. I'd say he'd be a solid addition in fact, regardless of whether we also get Thiago/Fabregas.

The only problem is for how much Fellaini would cost we want more the solid we want a player who will work well with Carrick and give us one of this leagues best midfields.

I don't see why everyone has accepted he'll go to Madrid? He's been at Barca his whole career, and people think he'll just switch to their biggest rivals just like that? He probably wants to leave but I don't think the situation is that bad that he'd go to Madrid. He doesn't seem the type who would pull a Figo either. Still think we have more of a chance to get him than anyone, we just have to wait for the u21 championships to be finished to see any developments.
