Unfortunately the timing of the tweet is not included above. That was tweeted yesterday so he's referring to Thiago meeting Barcelona today.

Let's hope we hear something positive then. ;)

I am very hopeful. Although I suspect we wont hear anything until mid-week. If Thiago is truly concerned about more playing time and potentially getting a chance to get in the WC 2014 squad then I think he knows where to go.

Ferguson would've told him to feck himself with that clause.

At one point he would've old agents to feck off when they wanted to pocket a couple of million for themselves, then he finally accepted how things are going and gave into Mendes and co. Things change. And of course the clause is most likely pure fiction.

I thought Sport wasn't reliable? I remember jojojo saying AS is more accurate.

Fergie's greatest quality was to adapt with times. Anyway if Thiago signs I can't see this clause coming into effect.

In fairness, if he doesn't play enough that the apparent clause comes into play he'll have been a bit of a failure, considering our midfield.

Here is another thought. This really is clutching at straws however. I have to concede that. With Moyes coming into today, there may have been discussion about the clause with club officials negotiating the deal. Moyes possibly could have told them that Thiago will get enough playing time therefore making the clause void. Once the lad knows he is established, there's really no point having a clause anymore.

Shouldn't you be off enjoying your Summer and all that?

SPORT claiming that Moyes insisted the clause be allowed in his contract as to not jeopardise the move. Moyes' first day rating has gone up from 4/10 to 6/10 in my books.

I'm guessing that clause has some sort of provision for injuries. He can't play if he's not available.

Can you post/translate the article? Did Moyes do that today? He must really want to bring Thiago here. First day in charge and he ensures our midfield is strengthened. He's won me over!

With about 15m discount on his 'true' price, I think United would be a bit more relax with this 'playing time' clause.

Thiago escape clause
Thiago Alcantara has ended badly burned a season that has not felt important to Tito Vilanova. Since making his debut in the first team under the orders of Pep Guardiola, the progression of the squad had been hit, including his first appearances with the Spanish national team. Not to mention that two months was KO, was only 15th in minutes played in the league and has also had the feeling that too often the technician did not have it in mind in big games.
If we add that the technical secretary Andoni Zubizarreta, has been unable or unwilling to prevent the clause is only 20 million euros until 31 July (after that date will go up to 90), is already ' vox populi "that the elder brother Alcantara could leave the club for the forthcoming season.
All indications are that his fate will be Manchester United . Since coming to office, replacing the legendary Alex Ferguson, the new coach of the 'Red Devils', David Moyes has continued to insist that Thiago wants to have in their ranks to lead a very weak midfield with Paul Scholes farewell , the decline of veteranísimo perennial Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick physical problems.
However, the operation is stalled by a clause intended to include the squad in its contract with United in a show that it's more than possible departure does not have an economic profile so marked as to believe. Assuming that the United aims triplicarle the salary that currently at the club (we speak of 140,000 euros a week), Thiago is not willing to leave without first ensuring that you have a lot of continuity and will be a major player in the equipment.
So much so that the Spanish international in all categories intended to be free by a similar amount to the 20 million of its clause next summer if not dispute a number of meetings, something that United was reluctant at first. However, at the insistence of the player and his representative, British club leaders begin to grasp that the operation could be ruined if you do not accept the imposition of the Blaugrana.
As this is a request of David Moyes, very bad things would have to go to not to play. Despite this, the minutes are won in practice and neither the clubs nor the coaches often secure them to anyone.

I don't know... I'm much happier with a clause like that than with a player demanding more money etc. All it says is that he wants to be playing matches, and if he isn't good enough to hold a place in our team he'd rather go somewhere else where he can play. Not much wrong with that in my book - it's pretty much what he's doing at the moment (hopefully!) and I don't hear anybody calling him out on it.

If he's not holding a place in our midfield, why the feck would we expect to sell him for over £20m anyway? Look at Nani - he's meant to be going for £8m!

I'm guessing that clause has some sort of provision for injuries. He can't play if he's not available.

In Barca games that he wasn't available didn't count as lost matches. Pretty much he had to play for at-least of 60 minutes per match, in at-least of 60% of available matches (so suspensions and injuries didn't count as available matches).

Fergie was a lot more adaptable than most give him credit for. I wouldn't put it past him to accept that clause as all it says is that Thiago is desperate to play and is supremely confident in his own abilities.

I don't believe it. After 7 years of not improving our CM, we look very close to be making a step in the right direction. Sir Alex is making Moyes look really good. Part of me gave up on us improving midfield significantly.

Don't get too excited Platato. I reckon this is still about 60-40 against happening.
Really? I am at 90-10. This is the stumbling block Graham Hunter was talking about. With this recent development, I think we are set to sign the player. If we don't, it would be some surprise for me.

Release clause if he doesn't play enough. Lads why the worry? Of course he's going to play enough. Do you guys think he's going to sit on our bench?!?!

I thought opposite that if he was supremely confident in his own abilities he wouldn't ask for the clause!

The only worry for me would be an injury or several small ones and taking time to adjust. The release clause should become active after two years to give him time to acclimate, imo.

Release clauses don't work like that. I am sure we made sure it's independent of injuries.
